Daria was lying down by the river bed, watching the water ripple past in a calming stream. Her eyes closed to slits as she let the wind blow through her mane. Her split tail was tucked up beside her left flank, her right foreleg dangled just over the running water. Birds flitted above her in a frenzy as they went about their business, building nests and such. Daria turned her gaze skyward as she watched the tiny winged creatures flitter about, flexing her own small wings.

There was a sound of splashing thunder just downwind of the winged mare. In the distance, a built mare that seemed to be blazing through the water was coming closer. Her markings were that of a zebra, and yet the coloring was mostly of fire. A jewel hung around her neck swaying with her rhythmic running. Her gold eyes barely noticed the white form laying close to the river. Pheonix had to mentally slow herself down causing more water to dance and splash. The mare stopped a few feet in front of the other getting a better look at her. She'd appear to be the polar opposite of her own coloring and markings which made her all the more intriguing. Pheonix took in her scent as she breathed, slowly exhaling to calm herself from the hard run. Still she had said nothing to the mare and just simply stared.

Daria flinched as the black and red mare came galloping towards her, splashing the water in the river all over the place, before coming to a sudden stop, making a small wall of water fall over Daria, drenching her in water. Daria stood up and shook off the water before looking up at the other mare, studying the strange creature before her, for a mare with split hooves couldn't be a horse? Then again.. Daria had wings sooo... Daria and the other mare stared at each other for a moment or so before Daria finally spoke up. "Uhm.. Hello." Daria said, offering a small smile.

Pheonix's eyes snapped slightly as the female's voice brought her to. "Oh. Hello." She simply stated before coming forward a little closer to inspect her. "Oh. I got you wet. My bad." Pheonix's sentences and words were pretty short and sweet - much like a bird. Her eyes searched the female's body again as if searching for something. It was noticed that this mare was very "furry" in a sense. She had a lot of hair and her feathered wings added to the mix. She was a bit of a bird really...almost like Pheonix. Just not as cool. Soon her gold eyes fell to the mare's blue one's. "What's your name? My name is Pheonix. What is this land?" This was her first interaction with another. Might as well find out some things.

Daria continued to study the odd little thing as she flicked her tails and listened to the... almost chirping like tone of her voice. Strange that a creature would not know where she is? "Hello Pheonix. I'm Daria and you are in the Floating Isle of Azreth. She flicked her tail to indicate where she was talking about next' "Those are Borrow Hills, south of us now. If you go North East from here you'll find King Azreth's castle and the Greater Herd." She answered.

The mare's ears flicked as she listened to the information she was receiving. "Floating Isles..? Azreth?" Her head tilted a little, nostrils flaring in thought. Pheonix came forward a little closer to the female coming from the water onto land. "King Azreth and the Greater Herd?" She blinked a little as if registering and remembering these names. "What else do you know? Can you take me to the castle?"

Daria gazed at the red and black mare quizzically. "Well... I've never been there myself... And that's about all I know. I'm pretty new here myself..." Daria shifted her hooves uneasily as she looked North-east, towards where the King's castle was. "I guess I could take you there... Might as well..." She flicked her tails as she looked back at Pheonix. "Are you sure you wanna go?" Daria gazed wistfully at the apple trees that she had been grazing on for a few days, before asking.

Pheonix quirked her head a little, eyes studying the female. She seemed hesitant and very shy. And the fact that she was as new to this land as she was didn't help. "No. You are obviously not fit to go. I go by myself. I'm sorry I asked." Her tail flicked, the feathers rustling aggressively. "You gave me insight by looking toward the castle, and then you further proved my diagnosis by gazing at the fruit tree. You are too hungry and unsure of yourself to go. Therefore, I go." Pheonix stated again before starting forward. "Thank you." She reared up on her hind legs then kick started herself forward, her split hooves digging up the terrain, mane, tail, and feathers flying behind her.

Daria's eyes widened in surprise as the strange azrein started galloping off, obviously upset by Daria's actions. "Now look what you've done, you fool azrein." Daria berated herself as she shook her mane and started after the red and black mare. What a strange tail.... She mused to herself as she caught up and began cantering next to the other. "My sincerest apologies. I might as well go with you, I'll need to make the trip myself anyways." Daria called to the other azrein.

Pheonix came to another halt as she caught back up. Her head tilted watching the female and listening to her explanation. "Intriguing. You change mind quickly. Fine then. If you wish, follow." The red mare started back up her canter, ears perked forward as her eyes gazed at the castle. "You have a name yes? What is it? I think that's how I ask." Pheonix's neck shook as she stretched in mid canter.

Daria stifled a giggle as she cantered alongside Pheonix. "My name is Daria." She answered as she pondered over the short, staggered sentences. Could this azrein not complete a full thought? Had she not been raised by another azrein? Why did she talk like that. "May I ask why you are in such a hurry to see the king?" Daria asked after a bit of silence.

"Daria. Pretty name. I am Pheonix." The mare gave a bow of her head in respect, at least that's how she thought it was done. "He is leader of this Floating Isle. He knows all. I search for my mentor." Her ear's flicked a little slowing down just a tad. She was starting to judge the distance and the weather and the sunlight. "We may only get halfway to the castle. Daylight burns fast here."

Daria nodded as she stopped beside the red mare. "Mentor?" She asked quizzically before Pheonix continued on. "Its a two and a half day's distance..." She said as she shook her mane out, getting some of the sweat on her neck to dry. "I suggest we bed down for the night. We can continue in the morning when we have more time and rest..." She suggested.

The mare had paced herself for most of the day and for some reason this body was used to the aggression she gave to it. The stamina was incredible and so was the strength. If only she just understood better. Her ear flicked as she slowed to as top at the suggestion. "That far? Hmm. I misjudged the distance. Then yes, we rest for the night then wake early." Pheonix gazed the area before she trotted toward a small patch of trees toward the west. "This won't take us off chart too bad. We should rest here." Her head turned toward Daria as if for affirmation or just simply following.
