Primary Weapon: Lux Ferrum
This is Tabarias’ favored weapon, and the one that he has based his path on. He tried wielding this blade before when he was a normal Shadowmaster, but every time he drew it the blade burnt away his shadowy armor. Combined with his desire to be prepared to surprise the monstrous being who came from his bloodline’s past, this blade prompted his decision to figure out how to wield the light instead.
His blade was found enshrined in an ancient Paladin’s tomb. He doesn’t know how the blade managed to be left in the tomb, but it was obviously powerful even before it’s ability was activated. Then when the Lux Ferrum awoke, he found his armor banished. He has trained himself to go for extended periods without the parasitic armor, hardening himself. Eventually he woke up the abilities of the sword.
First off is a technique that covers the surface of the blade in a field of shimmering light. This allows for the next techniques to be used. The second technique is a technique that sends a wave of shimmering light rippling outwards. While this is extremely effective against Shadowmasters and Gunslingers, it can also be used against other bloodlines for minor damage.
The third technique is a devastating attack against any opponent. This causes a spear of hardened light to lance outwards from the edge of the Lux Ferrum, though once shot the light cannot turn until it returns. This attack allows for the light to return from the blade, making it different from the other light attacks of the Lux Ferrum.
The fourth and final technique of the Lux Ferrum, at least of what Tabarias has figured out so far. This attack is where the blade slams the blade into the ground. A ripple of light flows out across the ground, similar to the second technique. This ripple of light shoots outward in approximately a seven foot arc that travels for thirty feet in the direction facing outwards from the user of the blade.

Secondary Weapon: Masamune:
This is a blade that Tabarias took from an opponent who tried to kill him in the Wastelands. The battle came just as Tabarias attempted to leave the Wastelands to travel to Sol Solis to join that nation, and was actually perpetrated by Tabarias’ best friend, another Shadowmaster. The two men had had a a falling out – Skriner was of the mind that a certain man should be woken up, while Tabarias felt that he was meant to sleep forever. When Tabarias left to join a nation that would focus on keeping that man asleep, Skriner felt that he had to stop Tabarias.
After a long battle that lasted for hours between the two former friends, between Tabarias’ Lux Ferrum Skriner’s Masamune. At the end of the battle both men were covered in wounds that had pierced through their living armor, and both blades had cracks covering them. But there was one major difference – Tabarias’s blade had pierced through Skriner’s heart, while the Masamune was trapped under Tabarias’s arm. As Skriner died he demanded that Tabarias take his blade with him, to use it however he deemed fit – the other Shadowmaster felt that might makes right, and from Tabarias winning the fight what Tabarias hoped for was the true path to take.
The Masamune has a few techniques; most of which are control over blood. The first, primary thing is that when a small amount of blood is leaked onto the blade, the sword begins generating more. This allows for the attack of the blade to be used. This attack is a crescent arc of blood that lances outwards to strike anything in its path. The second attack that this blade can perform is to cause thin spikes of blood to shoot up from any puddles or pools of blood – meaning even if an opponent dodges the blood arc, the blood that splashes around them can be a danger.

Armor:
Tabarias’ Shadowmaster armor is not like the normal parasitic armor of the Shadowmasters. Because he has focused on wielding the light, his normal armor no longer works – instead, he has found an Alchemist, centuries old, who was able to modify his parasitic armor into something that is Light based. Because of this, Shadow attacks like what normal Shadowmasters use would have an enhanced effect on him, while most others are normal or weaker. Light based attacks would actually repair damage to the armor.

What else do they have on their person?: Crossbow, made of mahogany.

╫Fighting Style╫

Tabarias is like most other true Shadowmasters – a slow, heavy hitting powerhouse. Despite his slim frame, he is slower than most of the other bloodlines on Saegarath, possessing no real advantages over his normal brethren. However, as some Shadowmasters have experimented and found out, he has learned how to manipulate his armor to an abnormal degree – he can create temporary blades and spikes on his armor, similar to those used by the second skin bloodline. However, this lasts for a much shorter time than those people – a single attack at most. He also has a few techniques involving light, from light grenades to blind opponents to a kind of light shotgun – an attack that collects a large amount of light in the palm of his hand, and coalesces it into hardlight, similar to his armor. This hardlight is then shot forward in a scattered pattern, similar to the blast of a shotgun. He has also refined this down to a single hardlight ‘bullet’ that he can fire from the tip of a finger, though this does take time to charge. He is constantly experimenting with the uses of hardlight, to expand both his peacetime and warfare capabilities.

Calcipher
Calcipher is a rare creature – a Lunar Phoenix. While he is a Light-oriented creature, instead of the typical blue or red flames, Calcipher’s are nearly black in hue. He can speak to those he chooses to through a telepathic medium – but he generally does not do this, as most people except for Seers and the one he is bonded to, Tabarias, suffer an intense headache after only a few minutes of talking to him like this. He has a variety of abilities in addition to this, from sending out thin waves of flame that can sear nearly every substance, to shooting out burning feathers like kunai. There are a few others, but he has not yet used them near Tabarias.

╫Background Information╫

Tabarias was born a normal Shadowmaster, in the depths of the Wastelands. As he grew up he proved to be an avid student of history, devouring every scrap that he could. He even managed to learn of the ancient Seeress in her cave (See home page) and learn the history of the world from her. When he realized that Rafale was still alive somewhere, and might one day be awoken again, the young Shadowmaster decided then and there that he would do everything that he could to stop that from happening, and if he couldn’t stop it, well then he would have a surprise for the ancient Shadowmaster which he could never possibly see coming. With that thought locked in his mind, Tabarias journeyed to where he knew an old Paladin had been buried in the Wastelands, a remnant of the Great War.
Once he reached the tomb, Tabarias explored every chamber that he could find. After dealing with minor pests, he found a chamber in the tomb that looked to be some kind of a library. In this he learned of the exploits of the Paladin, what he had been searching for – a list of things the man knew, and how to fight as he did – using the Light as a lethal weapon. Unfortunately at the time Tabarias could not use his new-found knowledge, as a Shadowmaster trying to use the light like that would kill him. Instead he continued searching through the tombs – and found the Paladin’s sword.
A giant broadsword made of a silvery-white metal with a shining blue hilt of some indiscriminate material. When Tabarias picked up the sword, he was shocked quite badly when the blade became encased in a brilliant light – bright enough to burn away his armor. He quickly sheathed the blade and suffered through a few minutes of agony as his armor recovered from the burning light, but a seed had been planted in him, though he didn’t know it, the seed of an idea.
He began hunting and searching, learning everything he could about the parasite armor of the Shadowmasters. That is when he found out just what it was made of, and why some things burned it away while others did nothing to it. With that knowledge in hand he began experimenting on how long he could go without his armor attached to him, gradually finding the upper limits of that time, and then doing everything he could to extend them. Eventually he was on the verge of figuring out how to alter his armor – when he realized that he had to leave. There had been someone else with him when he visited the Seeress, his best friend, Skriner. Another Shadowmaster, though he wanted to bring Rafale back as opposed to preventing it from ever happening as Tabarias hoped to do. This was causing tension between the two, causing Tabarias to decide to leave.
Of course, this was not to be. The day he left, as he neared the border of the Wastelands, Skriner caught up to him. There was no time for Tabarias to try talking to his old friend – the moment Skiner came into range, he pulled out his blade Masamune and started attacking, forcing Tabarias to defend himself. The battle between the two was long and painful for both – two friends, separated only by a single ideal. At the end though, Tabarias stood the winner, with Skriner dying by his hands. Distraught, Tabarias tried to save his friend, only for Skriner to give him his katana, and tell him to make sure he stopped Rafale from ever returning.
After burying his dead friend and spending a short time mourning – even as a Shadowmaster, the death of someone you grew up with was hard to handle – Tabarias left the Wastelands, entering the Holy Nations. As he traveled, he happened to find an incredibly old Alchemist – one who, from the way she talked, might have been old enough to have been around during the Great War. The two talked for some time, as the Alchemist showed an interest in the Shadowmaster armor. When she learned what Tabarias was hoping to achieve with it, and the skills that he had already come to possess, she decided to help him with his task.
And so the two spent months, if not years, together, working on altering the Shadowmaster armor. It was an incredibly painful time for Tabarias – the constant burning away of his armor, then the renewal, and repeated burning, caused his body to change slightly. No longer was he a massive warrior like a normal Shadowmaster - his entire musculature had become impossibly dense, somehow putting over four hundred pounds of muscle onto a thin and lanky frame. But that was not the only change that After intense questioning about why a Shadowmaster was joining the Holy Nations , he was accepted into the ranks.
For a few years, Tabarias kept his true nature hidden, instead working with the Masamune to keep the nation safe. As time passed his dedication and reliability began impressing his superiors, who would work with him for a time, grooming him to take their positions, then promote him and leave, taking well-deserved rests. In time he was given a position on the King’s Royal Guard – the nation did not discriminate on bloodline, only ability.
The King was an old Paladin, powerful in the Holy magics, but nearing the end of his time. And unfortunately, he had no heir to his throne. Before he died though, something happened – a powerful monster of shadows attacked the nation, tearing through the defenses and decimating the forces. The Paladin-King went to confront this monster, using the last of his powers to begin forcing the monster out of his kingdom. But before he could succeed, his powers faded completely, leaving him dying there before the monster.
Cue the Royal Guard. These noble souls rushed out to try to save their king, only to be tossed aside like ragdolls before the shadow-monster’s power. All that is, save for one. One of the Royal Guard was wielding a blade of burning light, and wielding that blade and attacks of solidified light, he was able to drive the beast out into the fields surrounding the kingdom. There, with the Royal Guard catching up in time to see it happen, this man slew the monstrosity. Then they received a terrible shock – the man, when he sheathed his blade and the light faded, was revealed to be the resident Shadowmaster, Tabarias! But in a seemingly impossible feat, his armor remained despite the fact that the light from his blade should have annihilated it.
Tabarias was forced to reveal his secret to his King, who was now on his deathbed. The Clerics were doing everything they could to save the ruler, but there simply was not enough life left in him. He proclaimed Tabarias his successor, and spent his last few days teaching the man everything he could about ruling.
This had not been part of Tabarias’ plan, but now he had the might of the entire Holy Nation behind him – if the worst happened and Rafale returned, then he would face immediate assault. Tabarias has for the most part left running the nation up to the Chancellor, who had been helping the Paladin-King before him; while he travels around and does what he can to combat the darkness and evil rampant directly. He is a King who is for the most part unknown – when he performs his official functions as King his armor retracts into something resembling normal clothing, for he knows that people hate being ruled by a face unknown. But when he is traveling or doing anything else he is clad in his hardlight armor in its glory, masking him to those who do not know who he was before.
