Rakai lay in the grass, bright green eyes focused on a complex ring puzzle in the dirt. His expression was one of deep thought as he mentally picked apart the rings before him. Within a short time he had figured out how one could separate the many rings that form the elaborate puzzle. Heaving a mild sigh he tossed his head, sending his silver mane into the air, before looking up at the blue sky through the leaves of the tree he lay beneath. The puzzle hadn't even taken a minute to solve and he didn't even touch it. Why was it so hard to find puzzles that could really give his mental muscle a workout.

Daria wandered into the meadow where she had seen plenty of apple trees around. Apples were her favorite. She loved the sweet, juicy, crisp taste they offered on a fairly warm day. Her blue hooves delicately stepped over small ant hills as she made her way to a large apple tree that looked promising. Her split tail flicked as she looked skyward at the tree, trying to pinpoint the best apple of the pick. Finding one, fairly high in the tree, she gave a small grin as she lifted herself up on her hind legs, making her tall enough to just barely grab the apple between her teeth and pluck it off the branch. Smiling to herself she quickly ate the juicy fruit, unaware of the stallion lying under a tree not to far away from where she stood eating.

Rakai heard Daria's approach but didn't so much as make a move that would hint he had. As she examined the leaves for a juicy apple he tilted his head to glance at her from around the tree trunk. Though if she looked he would be in plain sight. She was quite the elegant mare, her beauty only extenuated when she reared up to reach her chosen apple. He watched her eat the fruit, already picking up on who she was just by watching her movements and expression. He just lay there silently in the grass watching her with a mildly curious expression on his face.

Daria sighed and flicked her tail, each end slapping the sides of her flanks as she flexed her tiny wings and reached down to lick her foreleg and reposition her bracelet, which was getting tangled up in her ankle fur. It was only a moment before she looked up and around, feeling eyes watching her her. Her hide shivered as she saw the stallion staring at her with undisguised interest. She blushed and ducked her head shyly before nickering a hello to him. "Hello there." She called.

Rakai offered a light smile as she looked at him. His expression shifting to a charming smile. "Why hello there, miss." He replied smoothly to her greeting. She seemed like a nice Azrein and obviously a bit shy. It was kind of cute actually.

Daria blushed again as she looked away from the stallion, flicking her tail nervously. After a bit she walked over to where he was lying. "My name is Daria." She offered her name. She hadn't met many other Azrein lately and was a bit shy and nervous about this meeting. She had heard rumours of evil azrein, hurting others and was a bit nervous. But surely this nice looking stallion wasn't one of them so it couldn't hurt her to have a friendly talk?

Rakai observed her every move in silence, patiently waiting for her to respond to him. Judging by her actions she was a bit nervous and probably not used to casually chatting with strangers. Though he may be cold hearted and quite twisted, his vendetta was against humans, not his fellow Azrein. Though he did have a nasty habit of messing with Azrein who have bonded with humans. He would have to converse with her more before he learned if she was one of them. But even then it wouldn't mean he would act differently around her. "You can call me Rakai." He said silkily with a light smile, rising to his feet.

Daria smiled as she eyed the stallion's rather long mane and tail that lingered on the ground as he stood up. She quickly noted the ring in his ear above his intelligent green eyes. "Well its a pleasure to meet you, Rakai. Are you enjoying the apples here as well?" She asked, mentally scrambling for something to say that wouldn't sound completely stupid. He was a handsome Azrein, but something about him seemed.. off... She decided to play the cautious card, just in case.

Rakai twitched his ear, the golden rind glinting in the filtered sunlight. He gave her a charming smile. "No, no, the pleasure is all mine, miss Daria." He said, voice kind and polite. Shifting his green eyes to the apple laiden branches above he gave a slight shake of the head, his hair flowing beautifully. "No, I just came here to enjoy the peace under the shade of this great tree. It helps me clear my mind." He said voice smooth, but light and warm, looking back to Daria.

Daria twitched her wings and gave a small nod as she listened to his silky voice. "I can understand that. The sound of the wind in the leaves is very calming to me as well.. " She said with a soft smile as she noticed the puzzle rings on the ground. She cocked her head at them before looking back up into Rakai's green eyes with curiousity. "What's those ring things?" She asked.

Rakai looked down at the puzzle rings as Daria's question. He lowered his head and picked them up. The tangled set of rings jingled, hooking one of the rings on a small protruding nub on the tree's trunk he looked back to meet her blue eyes before responding. "It's a puzzle. The object is to figure out how all the rings come apart from each other without bending or breaking them." He explained in a sweet, natural voice. "I was hoping it would have been more challenging. Unfortunately it wasn't." He said with a light, disappointed sigh.

Daria studied the rings, figuring out in her head what she could do to figure it out. "May I try?" She asked. Without waiting for an answer she took the loops off of the tree and starting moving the rings around, solving them in a couple minutes. Perhaps a little longer than Rakai had taken to figure it out in his head, but still figuring it out fairly fast for an Azrein. "There." She smiled, hanging the rings back up on the tree. "They weren't that hard." She nickered. "I take it you do puzzles often?" She asked after a moment.

Rakai watched her as she studied the rings, a mild smile creeping to his face. It wasn't often that he came across another who seemed so interested in his puzzles. Even when he was young he was an amazing puzzle solver. "Why of course." He replied, voice silky and bright, even though she had already helped herself to the ring puzzle. He watched her in silence, green intelligent eyes picking up her every motion. He learned much about her just by watching how she went about solving the puzzle, how she analysed it and worked through it. Even her speed said a lot about her. He gave her an light smile as she returned the rings to the tree. "No kidding, I could do it with my eyes closed." He said lightly, his disappointment in the puzzle obvious. "Yeah, I do puzzles all the time. Though its more challenging to find a decent puzzle than to solve the puzzle itself." He laughed, finding it funny just how true that was. At least for him. Finding a conventional puzzle that could actually challenge him was difficult. Due to this it has become habit to make puzzles, so to speak, of others and relations with others and solve them, in a manner of speaking. Rakai tossed his head and focused his charming gaze back on the beautiful mare before him. "You like puzzle too?" He asked, though his words sounded borderline between a question and a statement.

Daria laughed as the stallion watched her. He was a very attentive azrein, if not a little cocky. "I enjoy puzzles every now and then. Occasionally I find one I'm not sure of but I eventually get it sorted out." She once again studied the stallion, from his dark blue hooves to the lightening that raced up his leg, to the gold earring once again. "Maybe life is your puzzle Rakai? Not every puzzle comes in rings and shapes." She said as she looked into his green eyes.
