Chomo was quite glad to leave the conflict behind him, he had been too tempted to leap into a conflict that he wasn't totally in the know of. Still, it had seemed unjust that a lion should turn against their sibling in such a way, even if things had been circulating. If it was anything like the Firekin pride he once knew, coups were always in the works. What defined a ruler was not his or her parent's choice but wether they could hold the position in the face of the masses.

Didn't the weak lions used to be weeded out as easily by the Firekin as weak prey was weeded from the desert?

Chomo must have been gone too long.

As he walked across the sands, searing hot but unfelt beneath his thick paw pads, he spotted the old familiar cliffs, looming over the land, their shadow a cool place in which to relax.

He made his way towards them, remembering how huge they had seemed to him as a cub. Casting a glance over his shoulder, he spotted Nuri and finally spoke a little of what was bothering him "That exile was totally unfair, I think."

The injury she had days ago seemed to progress in the pass week from their little 'game' in the clearing. Traveling in the sands seemed quite a bit harder now than before, yet when Chomo looked back she lifted her head once more. Her mind was on other things at the moment, yet she just sent him a nod.

"Kwana...she is a true Firekin..." Her voice was shallow, the emotion all gone as she felt her eyes fall downcast. Something about her form, something was different than before.

"Chomo..." She whispered soon after, stopping from where they were making way, "...I need to ask you something." Her mind has always been back on that faithful night, when they went to bed and had...spent some time awake before resting. They were of course tired the next day, and didnt get to the sands on time, but afterwards they seemed fine.

Fine enough.

And yet...she knew.

Chomo nodded, agreeing with Nuri, but something didn't seem right with her tone. It concerned him a bit and he turned to face her, now most definately worried that something was up with Nuri. Being somewhat unobservant, his thoughts trailed back too far, wondering was the red female's perceived worry to do with the wildebeest which kicked her? Surely not.

He was no good at reading others, but his concern was very genuine as he nodded and said, in tones more gentle than they had been a moment ago. "Ask away, I'm listening."

Nuri just looked to him with wide eyes, his personality surprising her once more. She just blinked with thoes deep dark eyes.

"I-uhm..." She whispered and turned her gaze away, settling on her haunches, "...Chomo...something strange is happening..." She swallowed lightly and moved to step closer to him, so she only had to speak in soft whispers.

"Kwana, the set queen has been denied by her blood...and thoes under the leaders have pushed and been listened to...this isnt our home...and..." She just looked to her paws, a battle in her eyes.

"And...I am afraid that our...cubs wont be able to grow up like I want them to..." Did she just say that?

Chomo listened intently to Nuri, his curiosity silencing him. As she voiced her concerns he nodded in agreement, he did feel that the exile he had beheld was unjust, based even on first impressions. However, his nodding stopped and a single brow almist hit his forehead as Nuri's final comment sunk in.

"Our...cubs?" his tone was one of surprise, not anger or sadness, cubs were not something he would have thought of, being a typically dense male, but when he had time to dwell on the idea, they were not unwelcome.

He probably would have added that whatever was best for the cubs, he would support, but surprise had robbed him of his voice.

A slow snarl crossed her maw as he asked that one question, silence filling the spaces around them before she turned her head and moved to walk past him.

"Yes our cubs, though I am debating changing that to mine..." She did not mean it to sound so planned, but the steel in her voice clearly covered up any hurt she might have felt. Knowing from the moment they stepped into the lands that something was different, she realized soon enough and expected him to back out, being the male he was. Men never sought to raise the young, they put it on the women and left them alone until it was time to take them away.

At least, that was what vision she had in her mind.

Chomo would flee from her sights soon enough, and wait until her cubs had grown to follow his paws, taking them away from her and leaving her to be alone once more. Such a negative feeling built in her system, it covered up the real source, the fears of being alone. After learning and changing from the company she had traveled with, being alone seemed like being torn from the light of her goddess, and cast in the shadows to be cursed for eternity.

"I can easily raise them on my own, and when they are old enough, they will be able to find you." She didnt look him in the eyes, for she had lost confidence in her own, but her voice still held the bite that her scowl expressed. It seemed as if they were back to day one once more.

Chomo's reaction to this somewhat accusing reply, was not a typical male one. Most would have been happy to go on their way and leave the rearing to someone else, but not him. He took two steps back from Nuri, his posture very slightly submissive, his expression hurt. However, he quickly rectified this state of affairs and straightened up slightly, his expression resolute, his tone strong.

"I would never ask you to raise them on your own. Unless you desperately wanted to and even then I would argue. It takes two to tango and no way am I abandoning lives that I helped create."

He swished his tail and looked out across the lands. "And if you feel this part of the lands is not good for the unborn cubs, then I will come with you anywhere in the desert you wish to go until they are older."

The red lion was gentle in his mannerisms, that much was true, but in stubborness, he was a Firekin to the bone.

"Besides, I've kind of gotten used to your company and I don't half mind it." He gave her a reassuring grin "Wether or not I irritate the living daylights out of you."

From where she was moving past him, Nuri felt her whole being stop at his words, her ears flattening as her paw moved to settle on the ground from its lift. Not looking to him or even speaking as he respond, she felt slash after slash to her form, his assumptions clearly wrong. When he was finished, she still just stood there, time seeming to still as the air was thick, almost enough for her not to breath.

Soon enough she broke the silence as her legs gave out, and for the first time in weeks she showed true signs of weakness, the weight finally pushing her past her limits. While she lied there, her head lowered to the sands, one of her dark paws covering her maw as her eyes closed and she inhaled deeply.

"You dont irritate me, Chomo..." She whispered from where she lied, and never once did she open her eyes, for fear of his features, his reaction, and just for fear of what might come next. Word by word, this lion was breaking her down to her inner turmoil.

Chomo didn't know how to respond to Nuri's actions. He had never been good at holding his own in a conversation of any depth, growing up on his own at the oasis had robbed him of quite a few of the more subtle nuances of communication. But he did know that he was glad to hear that he didn't irritate the female, something he had worried was true from the moment they set out. He constantly felt as though he was unworthy of accompanying her on her way, he could never be as perfect as he perceived her to be.

Finding when words failed, actions usually sufficed, he padded softly over to where Nuri lay and gave her a friendly nudge with his nose.

"Then don't shut me out."

He wasn't sure what made him say it, but it seemed to fit better than any other sentence he could possibly come up with.

With his light nudge and his even lighter words, Nuri felt her eyes snap open as her vision blured. Lowering her head quickly, she tried to hide what she felt would be the first time she had ever cried, and soon enough she lifted her head again to just stare at him. Had she been able to see it herself, her eyes had all at once lightened to a brighter color, the rims of black setting them off against her dark fur.

"Chomo..." She whispered softly once more, his words shaking her as she could only lie there, starring up at his form before she finally was able to pull away. He asked for something that she had never even thought of doing, putting away the safty of her hidden intentions and putting all trust out in the open, as if they were...

...mates.

Sucking in a sharp breath of air, she moved quickly off of her stomach to stand, wavering slightly to bump her shoulder into his own, and she could only wonder how he had gotten so close.

"...I..." Her words had left her before she suddenly closed her eyes and took a deep breath, trying to grab what little control she had left, "...I-I don't know..."

Chomo met Nuri's gaze as she opened her eyes, as usual demonstrating an unflinching and gallant warmth in the face of uncertainty. His anxiousness was apparent but he wouldn't back down. He heard his name spoken aloud and put his ears back as though he was a cub being reprimanded for something, it was instinct.

He leaned in towards Nuri as she stood, ever so slightly so as to subtly offer her support if she lost her balance again.

"I'm sorry if I'm pressuring you. Say the word and I'll back off."

And if she asked, he would back off, but with a distinct reluctance, Chomo was simple in his emotions and he cared about Nuri, enough to know that if he wanted her to be happy, he would have to do as she asked him.

Nuri just stood silent a moment, their forms lightly brushing across one another as she said not one word. Stepping away soon after, she made one step closer to their goal, and turned to look at him.

"I fear of exile..." It was simple, and to the point that was put across before, "If they banish their own blood, what is stopping them from banishing the rest of The Blood now?" The topic they just faced was pushed away for another day, and now it was back to his words, and her responce.

"The future of our pride is bleak with that kind of ruling, and sadly enough, there is not much of anything left unless we gain a ruler such as the one they pushed away hours ago..." It was the truth in her mind, for the Firekins' had changed. It made her wonder every moment she was in the lands, just why everything was different, where was Finar-si and her faith?

(( Like I said FC, no worries <3))

Chomo understood Nuri's fear of exile. It had tormented him since his return here. A deep part of him that still held his cub-taught values boggled at how one of the blood could be declared stripped of their heritage. Surely Finar-si's blood ran deep, resistant to removal by some mortal king? That assertion was what kept his spirits up. He tried his best to articulate this feeling.

" I agree very much with you, the current ruler cannot be strong in mind if he thinks that mere fleeting words could banish the blood that runs in a lion's veins. Of the royal line or not, only death could truly sepearate a Firekin from our heritage, I learned that the hard way when I tried to forget this vast desert."

He shook his head "But as for the state of the pride, I'm not sure what we could do to change things here. I, as much as you don't want our cubs growing up learning that this false and stilted state of affairs is the norm..."

He looked for a moment completely lost in thought.

"And no solution really presents itself other than that it is up to us to show them what is right and true."

She just glanced at him with a sort of skeptical look, her teeth curling lightly back at the idea of their cubs. She was sure that they had more than one, that much was clear with her feelings deep within, and knowing that two or more would come out made her lose faith in the pride she used to trust and dream of.

"I think you are right, if our pride is unable to continue the teachings of Finar-si, that we must do it ourselves. If our cubs must be taught against the pride with their morals, than so-be-it, for they will never survive if they become blind and exile eachother." It was a grated out comment, one of truth and honesty and yet dark in itself.

"Chomo...we should go rest and speak there..." It was that idea soon after that made her remember just how alive the hills were. Had she been sure of it, she would have continued, yet she could not see if another lion was near by, "Who knows what they may assume from our words..."

Chomo nodded silently, in agreement with Nuri's words, if the pride itself was corruped, it would be up to them to continue the teachings the way they had learned them, untainted by the sibling conflicts and weakening of the old bonds all around them.

However, he was as aware as Nuri of the possibility that even the walls had ears. "I hear you in that respect. Lets get out of hearing range of those whom would harm us for our loyalty."

Smiling lightly to Chomo, though it was only a ghost of one, Nuri moved quickly towards the cliffs they had decided to stay at. Looking over her shoulder every so oftin, she felt the slight weight of her early pregnacy and the pain of her injury holding her down. Rest would soon be needed from all the traveling, and she was glad that it was coming now.

"At least we are not on our own, and maybe out there, there are others who also feel the same way we do, who do not trust this new pride..." If the king had heard her speek, he might not have even thought of letting her join, but alas, she was wise enough to whisper her words, so only thoes close enough would hear, and even than would need to make an effort.

"Almost there, than we can rest and speak without guard."
