Welchenos stood on the beach with his brother, Oceanus, not far away. Their parents and family stood farther up the beach, ready to watch the two brothers preform the Rite of Ba'Ushufo. The tide would begin rolling in in a few moments, and then the brothers could wade out and prove themselves as adults to the pride.
Welchenos knew what he wanted - as soon as he was an adult, he wanted to train as a Mwani for the pride. His experiments in his youth had lead him to love the arts of healing, and he was ready to serve the pride this way.
Welchenos looked at his brother and grinned, a slightly manic expression that his friends recognized from when he was about to do something dangerous or exciting.
"Ready, Oceanus?'

Oceanus had been spending a lot of his time preparing for now only this buy also what he wanted to do in the future. He had been wanting to be a Nyangumi for a long time and today was the first stage into getting into what he wanted to do. So he was ready to go he was ready to become what he wanted to become and that was all to it. While he was a guard he could still wander near the beach as much as he could and that was one of his favorite parts. He loved the water and the fact that he could see it made him really happy.
He paused for a moment as he looked toward his family then back at his brother. A few of his siblings had gone missing recently he was sad because of that. The Tsunami hit hard and there were loses in the pride and although that made him a little nervous when it came to getting into the water right now he knew it was part of life and he knew that it was coming and he wanted to be considered a full member of the pride so he was going to do it!
He looked toward his brother after looking at his parents. He nodded to his brother as he started to move closer to the water. "I'm ready Welch." He said as he looked at his brother and then looked at the water getting ready to step into it and step into his future. He was going to wait until his brother joined him however. They were supposed to do this together and thats what he wanted to do.

Decisively, Welchenos stepped into the water as the tide made itself known by moving up the beach. He waded out as far as his shoulders, knowing he could go out a bit farther if needed to feet his feet lift up from the sand. There was nothing to fear; his brother was with him and their family was looking on. The great wave had already delayed their rites, but Welchenos was determined to become an adult today.

Oceanus turned to his brother and watched as he too started to wander into the water. There was one thing for sure and that was that Oceanus wasn't goignt o wait any more to become an adult either. He really was tired of waiting everyday he was going to be an adult. He had been waiting forever but with everything going on he knew for a while that he had to wait, and no matter how much he wanted to do this he knew that family and his pride came first.
However things were starting to calm down some and he could do this and he knew that he needed to concentrate on this he had to do it, he could do it. He moved a little closer and closer heading holding his ground as the waves began to crash harder and harder into him closer and closer he moved deeper and deeper into the water.

Following his brother, Welchenos moved out into the water, squinting his eyes against the invasion of the salty water and keeping his mouth closed so he wouldn't inadvertently swallow any. It didn't take long for him to get to the point where his head was just above the water, and soon, he knew, the tide would start lifting him off the bottom of the sea.

Oceanus glanced toward his brother for a moment as he tried to move as carefully and quickly as possible through the water. He was holding himself together the best he could.He was a little nervous, he loved the water so much but he wasn't used to being this deep into the water and paused looking at his brother once again before moving forward a little more the water moving up further and then he slowed down for a moment and allowed himself to get caught upin the water, as he thought about it more and relaxed more he enjoyed the water more and more.

Before Welchenos could have prepared for it, the waves hitting his face were joined by the water swelling up under him, and his feet could no longer touch the bottom of the ocean. Welchenos began the swim back; it took longer then he was expecting it to to reach the sand, but he was glad he had. He shook the salt water out of his mane, and turned to wait for his brother, as an adult.

Oceanus too spent some time swimming out of the water looking around and then paused for a moment, taking some time to wait and then he turned around swimming back toward the shore and then looked at his brother. he was proud of not only himself but his brother that heenjoyed spending time with, they were both adults now and this was exciting, extremely exciting.

When Oceanus reached the beach after him, Welchenos gave him an enthusiastic head bump. "Congrats, brother. Look who're the latest adults in the clan!" He's excitement was tempered by the family members that were not present, but not enough to keep his smile down.

Oceanus tossed a look toward his brother. He too had a small smile on his face instead of one that he really would have. It was upsetting that he couldn't have the company of his parents and other family members there. He wasn't that sure of where they were at all and it made him upset but him and his brother were adults now and even if they were the only two that were happy that was better than nothing that was for sure. HE paused for a moment as he nodded at the male once more and then nudged the other lion. "Congrats bro." He said with a small chuckle, shaking the water off of his coat before then nodding at his brother once again. "Good work for you too." He commented back to his brother, he was pretty proud of how they did.
