To discuss art principles and practices, and doodle together in paintchats and fun stuff like that. But most of you are into anime art, which I despise. sad Discuss this feeling.

YOU. ARE. MY. FRIEND.
Haha, I'm sorry, did I come one too strong? It's just that Gaia is just so full of weeabos that if you want to get more than a pittance for your art, you're practically forced to draw anime. It's irritating, to say the least.

Most of my friends are artists. It's fun sometimes, but most of the time I just want to shove my fist through their faces because they're all the snobby kind of artist who thinks that just because you don't live, sleep, and breathe art, you don't know anything about colour theory or art history. It really takes away from being able to draw near them. :/

Well, when you blog/reblog something, to the right of the screen is a little sidebar that allows you to type in tags. Most artist put in "my art" or "art" or something of that sort or their art posts. When someone wants to see the person's art tag, they'd enter in the sidebar "www.username.tumblr.com/tagged/my_art" or whatever an tag may be. Make sense? (:

AntoniaMaxima I don't have many art friends, and the ones I do have are pretty casual about it. Are you in art school? Nope. Not even remotely. I took an art class at college with one of my artist friends, whom I met in elementary school, and ended up befriending a bunch of people in the class. They were really cool for a while, but now they've all become obnoxious about it--especially when it comes to art history. I emphasised my history studies on the Italian Renaissance, so I find it pretty offensive when people who take one art history class run around pretending that they know more about the period's culture than I do. It's probably just my group of friends that's like that, though.

I found it's better to just look for interesting people and there you find artists, otherwise you end up finding snobs at any end of the spectrums: the OMGANIMEFTWs, the people who only will revere Titian and Rembrandt, the people who love and praise Georgia O'Keefe's 'feminist paintings of vaginas' and the idiots who think Dali was a colorist sad
Good places to meet artists are coffee shops, musics stores, junk and thrift shops, libraries, comparative mythology classes and bus stops.
Unlikely places tend to be art forums and galleries sad

I'm considering a Classics major, and it irritates me so much when I get into a discussion and someone cites, say, the Hercules movie. stare

I've just stopped talking about art with them because it is so so so frustrating. Otherwise, they're cool people (for the most part). They only get really bad when this one particular friend of mine is around, and most of the serious artists I've met on Tumblr are really awesome.
