Mandy was tired, and understandably so, she'd been up late last night dancing away with Aurian as was proper for Prom. So, the question was, what the Jack was she doing up at this hour? It too early to be up after a night like that, way too early. Though others may argue that seeing as Mandy defined too early as any time that day, she'd planned to spend the entire day sleeping thank you. But it felt kind of like she had forgotten something urgent....
With a thump Mandy fell out of her hammock with the realization that it was the tingle of obligation, and there was only one thing that could cause that.
He was back.
Hurridly getting up she threw together one of the simple meals she had prepared and was out the door before you could blink.
He was back.
Minutes later when she stood in front of his dorm door that revalation still felt like a dream; she'd hoped for days and days, always coming by and at the slightest hint of him returning she'd been filled with joy and a bit of rage. But now that she knew it wasn't just a flight if fancy....
Shuddering slightly she raised her first and knocked.
He was back and now she had figure out how to deal with him having left in the first place.

"Door's open," Barth said, bent over his workbench examining what appeared to be an icky stick. His Feslime, Cheezbooger, was also on the table, walking back and forth in front of Barth and generally leaving slime on things.
He was in black pajama pants and a very fluffy bathrobe. His waist was still wrapped in bandages from where Jingleberry had run him through, but that was healing, and he was in a good mood.
"Hello Mandy," he said without looking up. "...Have a good prom?"

Have a good prom?
Have A Good Prom!?!!?
He just leaves without a word and the first thing he can say is HAVE A GOOD PROM!?!?
Oh, well, her anger was defiantly back now. Stalking over to the workbench she placed the meal she was delivering down next to him before pulling him away and spinning him around to face her.
WHAM
Without a seconds hesitation Mandy had decked Barth hard across the face, probably leaving him with a nasty bruise.
She gave no explanation, just standing before him silently, face hidden by her hair and shoulders shaking slightly.

Cheezbooger scattered, leaping off the table and behind some boxes.
Barth looked at her, stunned, from the floor, as if unable to process what had just happened. He rubbed his jaw. Mandy...it was Mandy, wasn't it? Yes, it was Mandy. Even if she had come at him with something lethal next, the only expression he could have managed was shock.
"What...what was that for?"

The shaking in Mandys shoulders increased as she finally let out her first sound since seeing Barth again.
A sob.
Was Mandy crying?
"Y-You JERK! You left without telling me! I-I thought you where gone for good!"
I thought you had abandoned me, was left unsaid.

"I...what? Oh, here, don't..." He sat up a bit, still holding his jaw.
"It- it was short notice. My father...well, it doesn't matter. It was just a temporary business trip, that's all. Are...err, are you alright?"

Mandy didn't quite know what to say; with the initial outburst spent she was just left feeling... lost. Sinking down to the floor next to him she tried to find the words.
"I- I-" she paused, breath hitching. "D-Dont leave me too. I thought you'd left me too. Y-You didn't say anything. You could have called!"
Sniffling a bit Mandy wiped at her eyes, brushing her hair away so it didn't hide her and revealing, if there had been any doubt, that Mandy was indeed crying.

"Too? Who's left? ...What's the matter?"
Barth tried to discern what had caused such a strong reaction. He had left, yes, and he knew, well some people missed him. And he had missed his dorm, which was beginning to feel more like home than his Father's house. He liked the quiet, and space, and time to himself without the complete isolation that his first apartment had resulted in.
"I'm...I am sorry. I didn't mean to worry you. I don't err, I don't really check my texts, Christof usually- but he was here, he didn't say anything?"

By the way Mandy lunged at Barth, tackling him to the floor again and growling, that had been the exact wrong thing to say.
"ALWINE YOU IDIOT! YOU REMEMBER HER RIGHT?! ALWINES LEFT! HAVEN'T YOU NOTICED THAT SHE ISNT AROUND ANYMORE?!?!" Shaking Barth a little she stepped back in disgust, snarling and trying to reign in her temper.
"Christof didn't even know I hold a contract with you, I would have known nothing if I hadn't accidentally run into him."
Snarling softly she paced away from Barth, unable to look at him lest she hit him again.

Paying attention to things...or minipets...or people...especially in relation to time, or time between now and when he had seen them last, was not his strong point. He more or less assumed they would turn up at some point, and it was through this method of neglect that a lot of his minis had...well.
"I just...thought she wasn't in any of my classes," he said in a strained way, watching her pace. "I don't err, I don't really- get outside my dorm room much." In reality, he hadn't visited any other rooms at all, including demons, except for Riley, who was just next door, until a few days ago. He didn't even know what the interior of Christof's room looked like. "...Did- did something happen?"

That..... sounded exactly like the Sloth demon. It didn't mean it made Mandy feel any better about him, if anything it left a bitter taste in her mouth from how much it showed he cared about them, but at least she knew that he hadn't meant any harm. People rarely did.
"I don't know. She hasn't spoken to me since the island, just told me she was back and never contacted me again." here Mandy sighed, resigned, "Her Dorm room is always locked these days, I used to be able to get in whenever I wanted to."
Which led to the conclusion she had left. Just like he had.
"Dont you dare leave without telling me again."
She didn't want to go through the worry again, you could only suffer it so many times.

"A lot of people have been taking extended summer breaks...?" he said, uncertainly, "to visit with family, and so forth. But err, but you're right, Alwine is more..." he loosened his cravat nervously, still on the floor, "responsible. Than I am. But you're right. Sorry. I didn't realize...I'll make sure you know, next time."
Or that someone made sure she knew, at least. There would be a note. Or a text. Or something.

"Yeah... Summer break." Mandy kept her doubts about the explanation to herself, Alwine and her had been practically dating, but at least Barth was trying.
At his apology she froze in her pacing, turning to him, contemplating.
"Promise?"

Lies were easy to tell, as a demon, but Barth wanted to mean it.
"I'll try," he started, aware of his own unreliability. But it sounded weak, even as he said it. "No, sorry. I will. By whatever means. ...I promise."

At the words 'I'll try' Mandy internally deflated, ready to accept that as the best she'd get but still hurt and saddened. So when Barth correct himself you could call her a lot more than pleasantly surprised, the smile she gave him was positively radiant.
"Thank you, that's all I ask for."
All the tension Mandy had held upon confronting Barth had now disapeared and with gentle movements she picked up the food she had brought and sat down next to him, holding it out as a peace offering. She wouldn't apologize for punching him because then it would make the gesture pointless but she could at least make up for any sour feelings the action may possibly cause to feaster.
Barth was back and promised not to leave again without telling her so all was good if not perfect in Mandy's world so the least she could do is try and return that.
