Mikaru, for the lack of a better description, was annoyed beyond belief. Not only did he just encounter an infuriating mare that thought she was a princess, but that same mare kicks his ego back in his face. He was utterly shocked at first, her biting words to him, and that shock then festered into the annoyance he now held as they separated ways. It was so damn infuriating Mikaru couldn’t help but leave the safety of the plains and into the wooded trees. He had no idea where he was going but right now he just didn’t give a damn. He just wanted to get away from that mare as much as he could.
Was it dangerous? It probably was.
Was it smart given what could be lurking nearby? It probably was not given recent rumors of a skinwalker up and about in the lands.
Did he care at all right now? Not in the slightest.
He ruffled his red feathered wings and huffed. This just wasn’t right. A part of him wanted to get back at her. Another part wanted to crawl under a rock and never come out again. Never before had he been shot down as absolutely as she had done. It bugged him greatly. As it was he wasn’t necessarily looking where he was going and almost rammed himself into a tree.
“Stupid tree. Next time move!” he growled out with pinned back ears.
He was talking to inanimate objects again….lovely. That just meant he was really pissed off. Mikaru couldn’t help but feel bad for the next soquili to come along and annoy him.

Her week had proven to be a quiet one, with little in the way of soquili that she needed to save. Admittedly, she had spent a great deal of her time in pursuit of various other animals and had performed a sufficient level of ceremonies, but all in all it had been largely uneventful. It was for this reason that the blue feline had been afforded a brief respite - the maker had granted her a period in which to rest and recuperate. Ever thankful, she hadn't questioned his wisdom and instead, she had taken that opportunity to hunt and replenish her energy levels. The next call she received on behalf of the Maker, would be one that she was well prepared for.
This call would arrive sooner than expected, in fact, it was to arrive almost immediately... As the feline continued to snap on the limb of an unfortunate deer, stripping the flesh off length by length, the wind elected to brush gently against her face. In response, her nostrils flared and while she had expected the predictable scent of forest critters, she had not expected the scent of something much larger. Decidedly musky in quality, it had all the makings of the scent a soquili carried.
She dropped the deer leg.
Peering out from her place within the ferns, her quarry was not immediately visible, however, the Maker had ensured he would slip up and sure enough, Mikaru soon gave a mild ruffle of his wings. The flash of red would have been more than enough to alert her to his location, but the fact that he soon issued a shriek of irritation merely reinforced it. It had always amazed her - the fact that the Maker hadn't moved sooner to rid the world of such failed creations, they were all exceedingly foolish.
Alas, it was with this in mind that she slowly and silently slipped from her position in the ferns and trotted after the stallion. Paws silent against the numerous layers of rotting plant life at the base of the forest floor, Mikaru was highly unlikely to detect her until it was too late...

The stallion was so busy paying attention to everything else he knew little to nothing about the danger that he was warned about lurking nearby. His feathers were too ruffled to really think about anything else but what annoyed him. It wasn't very smart to be honest. As Mikaru made his way deeper into the woods and further away from his normal grounds he did little in terms of being careful of where he was actually going for destination. So when he finally did come to and look around, he had no idea where he was.
"This...is not very good," he mumbled to himself with a small eye twitch, "Not good at all."
He looked up to the tree tops to try and find some sort of visual of where he could be. Now, he would indeed take to the sky if he could. However due to the dense tree cover currently over his head it wasn't very safe to do so. So, for the time being, Mikaru was stuck in the small clearing he stopped in. He may not have been the brightest stallion his mother gave birth to but he wasn't that stupid. All the while he still did not pick up any sort of danger coming ever closer to him as he settled his wings one more time. They were a bit cramped still from the flight he had taken earlier.
