The quick youma was turning out to be a good workout for the eternal senshi of magnetism. It was true the youma was outpowered, and there was next to no way that it was going to make it out alive, but the final blow hadn't come quite yet. With as quick as it was it had taken her more then a couple minutes and attempts to get a picture that was good enough to count for her contest.
And afterwards a few minutes of back and forth physical attacks and one loud clattering of metal left the scene as it was. Polaris had paused long enough to try and gather her breath, wiping the sweat from her brow with one hand while the other grasped at a pipe that had been blown into the street by her attack. The youma was lower leveled, far more tired than her and to the point of desperation. It was time to finish the job.
Lifting the pipe to her shoulder, Polaris ran forward to brace the distance between them, her fingers tightening on the cool metal. She just needed to dust this guy and it was early enough in the evening that she might even get lucky enough to find and dispatch another before morning lights touched the skyline.

Wolframite had been walking home, tired and done for the night. He had been doing some rather secretive business and the results had been proving very fruitful. He would feel proud at the moment if he wasn't tired, and he was thinking of the warm bed at home and a Caesar Salad he had waiting for him in the fridge. Maybe he'd spoil himself and rent a movie on his laptop.
It was then that he noticed the energy of a senshi, and pausing on a tin roof, looked over the side to notice a racing youma sprint down the road. It wasn't one of the stronger ones. It looked like a spikes armadillo with many legs, but it was running as fast as it's many, tiny legs could let it, bumping into cars and trash cans and rolling a few times into a ball before springing back on it's legs again and skittering along.
It was the senshi after it that made Wolframite stop. Polaris. He hadn't seen the magnetic menace in a while, and he wanted to kick her face in as she ran past, holding a pipe as if she was about to kill a bug.
While he might have just fought the senshi just because it was a senshi, a treat to a youma was a treat to a member of his own team. To know what the youma really were....well, he couldn't let them be easily killed.
He turned, running alongside the senshi on the rooftops above before jumping off the roof and onto a smaller one below, and then off that one entirely to the middle of the street between youma and senshi. If she got near enough, he was going to kick her in the stomach and make her drop that pipe. "Back Off!"

She was catching up, almost close enough, her hands tightening on the pipe. In the back of her head she'd noticed the spike in dark energy, but her attention was focused.
Until a dark figure appeared in her pathway, causing her to try and skid to a stop to avoid the sudden collision. She wasn't quick enough to stop though with her momentum, but Wolframite's heeled boot was happy to help with that. Polaris wheezed in surprise and pain, half richoeting half stumbling backwards from the force. It was in fact, the pipe that kept her from falling, a clink as she used it like a cane to regain her balance.
"What..." As the spots cleared from her eyes and the youma she'd been chasing was lost from her eyes she focused on the figure that had gotten in the way.
It was a familiar one. And one that had just been rebrought to her attention by a certain message from Pollux.
"Wolframite... What are you doing?" There was no love loss in her words, no place for talking this out. The question was vague.. was she asking why he was stopping her from attacking the youma, or was it something more?
The pipe was lifted again, tentatively at first before it was pointed towards him. "Get out of the way. I'm not letting one of those monsters get away to go kill or hurt another person." She wasn't afraid to go through him. Well.. perhaps a little.. but that was a senshi's duty, to forget that fear and just DO what was necessary.

The hard impact against the sole of his boot caused his mouth to twitch into a pleased smile, watching her clutch her body and stumble back, pipe more support than weapon now. Every pained expression from a senshi delighted him more and more these days. Like a tasty morsel that melted on his tongue, over before he could really savor it. These moments were brief, too few and far between. He wished they would come more often, last a bit longer, drag out and feed the hunger that only grew each day for those expressions. Those outer displays that could be printed on his eyes that he was recognized as some threat. He wanted to kick her again, over and over and over again. She spoke to him, dismissed him as she asked for him to step aside, and that made his features contort is distaste. I'm not here to be dismissed!
He didn't bother looking over his shoulder. He could feel dark energy move away, and heard the youma leaving. "I'm protecting a comrade." He said, eye narrowing as she stood before him and as he blocked her path. She would not be harming that youma or any other in his presence. "For you to call them monsters shows you have no idea what they are. You underestimate their importance, and you think that I would tolerate their destruction, of even one of them, without offering my assistance." He didn't summon his weapon. Not yet. He stood there, firmly in place. "And what of me? You want me to step aside? You know I could do more damage than that youma could, don't you? Ah, but not just me. If you want to play around with a youma, then all you had to do was ask one of us. I have a friend who would be happy to defend one of it's own."
He lifted a hand to the empty spot to his side. "Isnt' that right - Aragwain!" He called out, commanding but being mindful to being respectful these days. After what he learned, what he knew, he regarded his youma now as any other officer. A creature of the past, here to fight alongside him.
As a captain, his youma had grown with him. Aragwain, the knight. The shadows formed beside the smaller officer, towering above him as they condensed and started to glisten into black armor and green ruins etched into the plates. Eyes under it's guard narrowed, empty voids of violent neon green that wafted and smoked beyond it's sockets. It's body, hardly visible through the gaps in it's protective armor, was leather hide of deepest black, and as one arm was in a gauntlet, the other was a long, sharply pointed lance. It stood beside the captain, adjusting it's body into a fighting stance.
"Aragwain. This senshi was going to beat a youma in with a pipe and asked me to step aside." He said, making small talk. "How do you feel about that?"
The creature raised it's lance, positioning it's body more in line with the senshi. "Oh, I don't think he liked hearing that. How about you tango with THIS youma instead?"

The youma had gotten away, which annoyed Polaris, enough so to let a sour expression cross her face for a moment. It was a face that steeled when her attention turned back to the captain taking note of the sudden speech.
He might have been happy to know that he'd misinterperated her reasonings. She hadn't dismissed him for any reason of thinking him unworthy. More so it had been out of confused morals. It was so much easier to take out the youma.. the shadow monsters that were nothing more then monsters. They didn't bleed.. they didn't speak.. did not have families. They simply killed and destroyed.. and puffed into dust when finally dispatched.
Human targets on the other hand... Polaris had found herself shying away from them when possible. Unless they proved themselves worthy or her punishment. And Wolframite certainly had, both through the past and through the recent message or rather threat he'd sent out.
The old eyed captain was as much a monster as a youma. Just as likely to kill and maim the innocent for seemingly no reason. He was a force to be dispatched, and Polaris wasn't afraid to bloody her hands for the right cause.
His words though? What? His confusion was cutting through her anger, her words nonetheless laced with irritation at having lost her pray. "Enlighten me then. If they really are anything more than blood thirsty, stupid, life destroying monsters then I'd love to know." Comrades!? Clearly he was nuts.
"I'd be just as happy to take you on too, I just wanted to finish the job first."
She would have snapped something about not attacking him directly purely out of mercy... or about her stance not to attack unless attacked first.. but something was happening, something that shut her mouth immedately. And Polaris subconciously leaned back a little as the youma was summoned.
The creature that appeared was different from other youma she'd seen in the past. Humanoid in form.. both his power and mere appearance a little daunting. She'd gotten rather cocky with youma in the last few months but this one.. this one drew forth some genuine trepidation. They could just call them at will like this? If that was the case why had she never run into it before?
Her teeth clenched nervously as 'Aragwain' seemed to respond to the captain's words, shifting in a stance that was almost human. "I'm not afraid of you OR him" She offered bravely nonetheless. Foolishly perhaps.
Her pipe was lifted once more, held out in front of her like a sword of her own, but she didn't make an attempt to move forward, letting the pipe do all the work for her, shooting quickly towards the chest of the large youma. "Super magnetic field!"

Wolframite looked to Aragwain, smiling as his comrade before looking back to the girl. With Wolframite going captain, he had noticed his youma had also grown in power, and he was happy that he could upgrade his friend along the way as a reward of being alive, faithful, and useful. He would have expressed his appreciate for the youma more if several attempts previously had only received silence or the occasional ex-haul hunt that sounded that a deep 'hmmm' of thought. Despite rank, Aragwain remained more of the silent, stabby type - something Wolframite wasn't against as he was also just that type.
It did bring him a great deal of pride and excitement to see Polaris take a step back to really take his youma partner in in all his armored glory, and while Wolframite knew that armor and magnetism might be a bad idea, he had to wonder how it would pay out. Take it as a test on his own youma against a senshi who dabbled in a sphere that could be bad for him. Still, he hadn't brought out Aragwain out too often and he was sure the knight felt rather anxious to kill a senshi. Pent up in the Rift was bound to make anyone and anything stir crazy. Ladon couldn't even stay in his apartment too long without wanting to go for a walk.
It was then that the senshi decided to attack, and using her own magic, raced at him like a magnet to a fridge. However, being attracted to something meant she was going straight for a knight who was pulling her in, and had a massive lance. He knelt and held out hsi lance, waiting for her to speak herself. It was pipe against lance and Wolframite stepped back to see how it would play out.

It was perhaps unwise to send herself hurtling at the enemy.. especially considering the weight advantage.. and the large and ominous lance it wielded. So as she drew near her hands released the metal pole, falling to the ground even as the pole continued on it's way.
Unwise was kind. It was really very stupid. The pole had lost some of it's momentum between her weight and the sudden release losing some of the power it would have already had. And her legs? A sharp pain shot momentarily through her ankles and knees as she hit the cement, bracing herself with gritted teeth before she stood up and lifted her hands defensively before her again.
"I don't even understand why you stopped me before if you've got a youma like this in your back pocket."
"I mean their just shields for your inadequecies right? You guys can't take on the sense or gather energy yourself so you've got to get monsters to do it for you." The words were biting, unkind, obviously trying to strike a nerve. Maybe if she was lucky he'd be proud enough to send the monster away.

Aragwain shot out his lance, but the senshi moved before he could pin her like a butterfly, and he remained where he was, watching as a pole hit his breast plate and stayed there, the pole magnetized and sticking to his chest. Looking down, the youma knight grabbed the pole and held it for Wolframite to take, and after some tugging, the officer pulled it off and tossed it far away. He didn't want it to be used again.
As Polaris got up, Aragwain gave a low Hrrrmm as he was insulted, and held his lance up, taking heavy steps as he moved towards her.
"Aragwain is not my pet. He is my partner. Deserving of the same respect as any other officer. He's not like the wild youma you meet on the streets. No. He's a higher class, and holds far more intelligence than the youma you pick on. The ones that are his brothers." His comrades in arms. All youma had worked for Earth as soldiers once after all. "I don't bother him when dealing with someone as annoying as you, but I think he'd be happy to educate you on the matter. He hates senshi as much as I do. You all did make him what he is after all." The heavy lance rose up and shot out at the senshi.

The lance was large and deadly, and Polaris both estatic and totally lucky that she's missed it. She was silently thanking her lucky stars as she shifted again. Wolframite had thrown the pole out of her line of vision... which meant if she wanted to use a power it'd have to be the weaker one or spend the time looking for a new weapon to focus on. And right now she really didn't want to turn her eyes from the giant beast. Nor was she keen on the idea of sticking herself to either the knife wielder or youma knight.
She was watching the youma wearily even as the captain spoke, and for a moment she debated tuning him out... because it was probably the same old stuff they all spouted. Only it wasn't.. and for a moment her eyes did flick to him, eyes narrowing. "WE made him?"
"I'm pretty sure you guys started this." She huffed indignently, kicking a bit of rubble towards the monster. "Youma and negaverse start stuff and we senshi have to clean it up not the other way around." She'd heard that they were wrong before, but that they'd made the youma how they were? Ha! That was new and deluded.

The rocks that were kicked up only flew and dinked on Aragwain's armor. The knight did not move. Did not attack. He stood there and let the rocks hit and then drop to the ground. He stood up once more, adjusting his land to point up again, as if considering his next move.
"You seem to lack a history lesson. Your Queen punished the people of Earth. She -" And then Aragwain moved and held his land out, pointing it at the general. Wolframite stepped back, looking up at the youma and the lance pointed at him. It seemed Aragwain wanted him to shut up. Wolframite got the message.
Aragwain then made another low huff and returned his lance to point at the senshi. Wolframite watched Aragwain warily and continued.
"We didn't start fighting until you showed up. The war only started when senshi arrived. We HAD peace until you showed up. Do you recall a long history of senshi hanging out on Earth and there being peace? Reports in the news? No. The second senshi arrived, That's when the mess started. If you want a good example, what about that sleeping mess you all did that killed innocent people? That was magic. NOT the negaverse."
Aragwain leaned down, and then rushed at her, pointing the lance once more at the seneshi.

Whether it was actually history or simply 'history' it wasn't a story that Polaris had heard, a huffed "What..?" escaping her. Whether it was true or, more likely, a lie that the negaverse believed (and therefore useful in understanding their motivation) it was more than annoying to have a tidbit of information offered and then subsequently ripped away.
"I can tell you very well that I started nothing. Nearly every senshi I know of, myself included, only awoke to their powers because they were being attacked by one of your monsters." She meant both the youma and their human companions.
And she had a LOT more to say.. only the large knight suddenly lunged, and living became more important then trying to argue.
He was bigger and very likely stronger, so standing him up head on was not an option. Her best bet was to attempt to dodge, hopping and side stepping as quickly as she could manage to the side opposite of the captain. Maybe it was slow enough that it's back would be it's weak point. She could hope atleast. What if these big special ones didn't HAVE a weak spot?
She was frusterated, uncertain, which ended up some annoyed banter as she tried to locate something to hit the beast with. "If you guys decided you needed to fight against us when all we did was be born on a planet then I hardly see that as us starting it. We aren't the ones harvesting innocent civilians like cattle and trying to justify it."
"We aren't the ones sending monsters around to destroy the city you claim to care so much about. I'm not killing innocent people or stealing their energy as if it's mine to take."
Screw it. Her teeth were gritted with irritation and the venom of her words, no longer wanting to wait or strategize. She just wanted to lash out at him and the monster with more than just her words. She had heard of the things Wolframite had done.. she'd seen some of them herself. And he would insist she was the one in the wrong?
"Magnetic field!" Her weaker, but more chaotic power sent a shower of metal towards the knight youma from all directions. It wasn't a secret though that she hoped the captain might be hit in the process.
