The travel through the Wastelands can be dangerous. The climate varies drastically and it is easy to lose your way. Definitely not a trip that one should make without a guide or damn good map. Criminals roam this area frequently so the threat of dying of sun stroke is only slightly less than the near certainty that you will be soon handing all of your money to a masked stranger.

Proceed carefully, and keep your money in your shoes.

Looking around, the sunrise was still a ways off. It would remain cool for a few more hours at least. The area was lit by a moon, not full nor half but in between the two. The stars were beautiful here, every one of the twinkling lights visible without any light to distract the eyes. The area was spacious, flat but with other rocks and bushes. The sand had turned to rocky ground, but still easily picked up by the wind. At the time, there was no wind, not even enough to move a strand of hair. It was dry but comfortable for him. There was enough light around to see movement from afar and to see if a bush was truly a bush. It wound be dangerous if this area was any darker though. Thieves and bandits were worse out here than closer to the market. The mountains to the east were where he called home now, being high enough for Codeal to enjoy himself without them being caught. It was here, however, that he resorted to when traveling, thus it was well kept.

The tension between the two of them was growing but it would flush out the criminal in either of them. If either had it. It was always good to be cautious of who you were around. Especially a complete stranger. However, Teiros was not one to hold a bad mark on everyone just because he didn't know them. Codeal on the other hand hated anyone being close to him and where he had to put out a bit of trust just to know who and what they were. Teiros was just as curious in the man before him as Codeal was, but it was Teiros who had the guts to stretch his faith in the good of people rather than distrusting everyone in sight.

As the man before him spoke, Teiros felt himself relax. It wasn't just because they were talking about trust and what not in the bar that had him speaking softly, he was a soft speaker. It brought up many questions, especially when he couldn't see the man's face. This man didn't wish to harm him either. At least they were on common ground. His hands relaxed a bit, as his natural smile returned to his face. If neither wished to harm the other, then mutual ground was achieved. However, both were unsure about each other even if there was mutual ground. Looking over the cloaked man before him, his eyes were both soft and calculating.

"I can say the same for you. While I enter the market only when I need too, I have not seen anyone like yourself." 'It makes me wonder just what you truly are. What blood to you call kin?" Teiros never let his eyes off this man either. Without introductions, he couldn't completely say who this man was nor what this man was. Neither could the other. Some how, he felt as if the man before him was more afraid of him than he was of the cloaked figure. "I have food within this outcropping, and information that you were wondering about. However, I have a curiosity of my own. Maybe we can share tidbits?" He tilted his head slightly to one side with a sweet smile larger than before.

This part of the wastelands Reteni tried to avoid at all possible. His usual home was at the base of the cold mountains that also made their home in the wastelands. Heat was not something he tolerated well. The dry slightly warm air even bothered him. The morning he dreaded seeing. If he was still here by then then he would have to stay with this man until night fall. That thought made him a bit nervous. It was still cool at the moment and he did have a while till the sun rose. Perhaps they could finish this quickly and he could get back to the base of the cool mountains.

He found him self looking around as they walked. Every few seconds or so his eyes would wander back to the strange man but another few seconds and his eyes wandered to his surroundings. Thieves and bandits had never been much trouble for the Vaypers. In fact, it was from thieves that he got most of the money to feed himself with. When the man mentioned that he shared the same curiosity as to the identity of the other he couldn't help but crack another small smile. It was amusing.

At the mention of food, especially better food, Reteni found himself hungry. Although he had eaten just moments before he never wanted to pass up a good meal. This one was hopefully free as he assumed it was. When he said he himself had questions he tensed. What sort of questions did this man have for him? So far he had proved himself trustworthy. For now he'd see where this led. Instead of a spoken answer he simply nodded his head and tried to offer a wider smile in return. If this man was relaxed and felt he was just as relaxed then maybe things would run smoothly.

Warriors laughed at his easy going attitude. They mocked him for being weak before eating their own words. He may be relaxed and easy going, but he was never one to mess with. Even without Codeal in the back of his mind, even without the dragon's support and strength, he was a warrior. A strong and talented one. He hated to brag. So why do so in the first place? Codeal offered him strength of a second form but it came at a price. He had to deal with the b*****d's attitude. An attitude that was the opposite of his own. Such a shame to be forced to live with such a death eater.

His attempts at getting the man to open up to at least his name had failed. However, it didn't mean that he had lost the conversation. The body spoke more than the lips when it came to new meetings. It was the main reason why he kept his form light and relaxed. Why stress out at not knowing what was under the mask when he himself was wearing a mask? His human appearance spoke nothing of the monster within him. If this man was the same, then maybe they shared more than curiosity. He hoped to meet someone like him. He had always hoped that he wasn't the only one living such a life. Maybe someday he could find someone that had a mental voice within them, a second soul to them, and a power that often times spooked even him.

The mention of food was accepted with a silence that spoke the answer. Turning his back once more, he placed his foot in a crack in one rock before placing his second foot a bit higher. His hand was on another crack, all of which perfectly spaced and just the right amount of room for what they were meant to be used for. The three points allowed even the shortest man to crawl up with ease to the top of the first rock. Once on top, another handhold allowed the climber to enter a crack that was big enough for a man in full armor to slip in with ease. All of these looked exactly like the marks on the rocks around, but were so perfect it was unnatural. If one were to look at them even up close, they would seem like regular erosion marks. But if one were to follow them, it would lead directly into the heart of the rock pile. Within the rocks, it was like stepping into a shadow on a hot day. It was cool but warm enough one didn't freeze. The space within the rocks was enough room to comfortably fit three to four people. The rocks made a roof about three feet higher than Teiros standing, and lead to a midsized hole in the top. Smoke marks were evident as well as the smell of cooked meat. In one side of the hole was the fire pit and to the side of that was the meat rack. Jerky lined the walls while a pot of water was hanging over the fire.

"Welcome." Teiros stated, his voice echoing slightly. Going over to the fire pit, he moved the meat around for a few second before pulling down three large strips of jerky. "It may not look as pretty as the bar's food, but the taste is twice as good." handing over one and breaking the second into half, he gave the one full and half of one to his guest. Sitting down in what was apparently a sitting spot, he tore apart the meat of the half. Swallowing, he waved his hand to the spot across from him. "Please, sit."

Following the man proved much easier than it seemed at first. He waited till he was almost to the top before he decided to follow. Considering the man had turned his back to him it showed he trusted Reteni but still he remained cautious.

The location up top seemed comfortable. Inside proved him right. The coolness was perfect for him and it made him feel much better than he had earlier. Although he was trying very hard not to show it his nerves were spiked. Since they had climbed he wondered how far it was he would fall if something were to go wrong here with this stranger. Planning escape routes was always the first thing that he focused on when ever he was around others.

"Thank you"
he said quietly then,as indicated he sat down, meat in hand. The smell that came off of them made his mouth water and for a moment he forgot that he was not alone in this strange place. Once his teeth sunk into the dried meat he felt his taste buds erupt into absolute bliss. Never before had he had anything that tasted so good. If anything it was this that relaxed him enough to speak up.

"You said you have questions?" he began, his voice still soft,"I would prefer if you asked yours before I find my answers" When he spoke his face was angled down so that he could not even see his mouth. Until he could find out just how much he could trust this man he would never show his face.

Turning his back to a possible enemy was risky, but it showed that he was not only prepared to take the risk but willing to trust. A dagger to the back could possibly kill, but something about this man stated he wouldn't attack unless forced to. It was a weird feeling in such a rough land, but that was how the aura around the cloaked man felt. A really weird feeling when he knew Codeal wasn't enjoying the idea any more than he. They rarely agreed on anything other than when the right time to fight, to eat, and to sleep.

Once inside, the path back up to the entrance was clear. There was no need to hide the markings on the inside. The walls were as smooth as the wind worn rocks could be, and the only other notches in the rock were filled with herbs of sorts and vials of colored liquid. They weren't poison only flavored water from different herbs. Looking around the rocks, he remembered the last time he was here and the plans that he had for this place. Creating this place took a lot of time, especially when a dragon scratching at rocks was very strange to see.

The meat was filling, much more so than the food at the bar ever would be. The chunks of jerky were large enough to be held in two hands just to look at, and though they were thin, took up a lot of space in one's stomach. It also helped keep one full for longer. Tougher meats always lasted longer. Though they were harder to get, they were better in taste as well. He wanted to chuckle as he looked back at his guest. He was glad that someone liked his cooking. Living out here in the sands, one had to learn how to cook. This stranger would be the first besides himself to taste his cooking.

"My questions are simple and it is up to you to answer. my curiosity doesn't have to be filled if you wish certain things to be hidden." Teiros stated softly before taking a bite of his meat. "My first, so that I don't have to consider you as a stranger, is a name I may call you by. Mine is simple. Teiros." As a proper person should when asking the name of another person, he put his name out before ever getting the other. No one of importance knew his name, so there was no chance that this man if he were to be an assassin, could tell if this man was his target or not. "My second is why you keep your face hidden when we are away from danger and public's eye." In other words, Teiros was willing to keep what ever it was a secret if this man were to even show him a bit of what's under the hood.

Reteni munched on the delicious and filling meat as the other spoke. While he did feel relaxed due the the lovely food he was munching, he still kept a keen eye on the man. Every so often he would look away to tear into the meat then look back up. He wondered if this man would let him take this with him. It would definitely last longer than what he currently had in his pack. That question would have to wait for later.

He swallowed his last bite then looked down. He knew he was dragging out the silence far too long but he didn't care. Both questions were on things he found precious. Not many had ever seen what his face looked like. And no one knew his name. He had to choose something though. Reteni could sense a deep, hidden anger within this man and he did not want to meet it. Especially before he got his own information.

"I will not tell you my name Teiros. That is reserved for only one person.I am sorry " he spoke in his soft tone. After this he went silent again. Saying this meant he was to show his face. "But I suppose as a thank you for your generosity I will show you my face." his Vaypers mind was screaming at him to stop and he wanted to with all his might. Yet he owed it to this man.

When he was being raised by his mother, Reteni had always been a bit more curious than your usual Vaypers. His mother found it charming but it also frightened her. This curiosity of his seemed strong enough to bend the walls that kept them from getting too close to anyone. Vaypers can make friends, they just choose not to due to their trust issues. When a Vayper does fall in love with someone they meet its a rare occurrence but the connection lasts a lifetime if the other party agrees to it. What made Reteni odd compared to his race is he was much more open to friends. It was not a large difference compared to his race but it was enough that any other Vaypers would find it odd.

White, shaking hands moved slowly up to his hood and lowered it just as slowly. Empty white eyes looked up at the man before him. In them was a mix of fear and curiosity. His white skin reflected the fires glow in the way the sun casts a pink glow on an evening cloud. The same followed with his hair. For a moment he said nothing as he awaited the mans reaction. He wondered if the man even knew what his kind was. As far as he knew no one really knew their kind. Yet none of his kind had ever looked into that sort of thing so he could not be sure.

"Now that you have seen my face, what do you think?" he spoke a bit softer this time. The nervousness had tightened his throat slightly and made it difficult to get anything louder from it.

"I do not show my face to the outside world because I do not want to be seen. It is as simple as that"
he said answering the mans question concerning his looks. It was true for the most part. There was no way he would ever tell him of his mother and of the men who took her.

The silence that was stretching out was both something he was used to and something that worried him. Had he asked the wrong things? They were simple questions weren't they? To strike up a conversation, one went for a name to call the other by and some other simple question. The weather, a common conversation starter, was something too stupid to bring up in a situation like this. The weather was like it was yesterday and the day before. Hot. So he went with the next leading question, something that has been on his mind since he met this person. The fact he kept his face covered even in a safe haven like this. Was there something hideous or wrong with him? Was it scared flesh or was it a marking that he was hiding? What if it was like his markings? Something that he didn't want anyone else to see but was apart of him? There were too many questions building up in him.

"I understand. Keep your name, but I do hope to find a nickname for you if you don't mind." Teiros stated softly. His patience was stronger than he had first thought it would be. If this man's name was saved for only one person, what is the reason behind that? Why save a name? But he kept his questions to himself. There must be much more to this man than what he was telling. And that was not stating much. This man hardly spoke at all. When the man before him stated that he would show his face, Teiros waited in kind silence. If it was something that this man was hiding, it must take courage to show him. As he waited, he felt his fingers gently playing with the silver buckles on his arm.

What was shown was something that caught both Teiros and Codeal with surprise. White and empty eyes, albino skin, and white hair. He had seen many different types of blood, each one different. Each one special. He had never seen any like him but it must just come with time. Looking at this man before him though, he could see why he kept himself covered. The sun must kill to be out in. The blood though. What did he call kin? Who did he call kin? Was he alone in this world or did he have a home to call his? More questions built as did Codeal. Neither had seen someone like this before.

"I see why you keep your face hidden. You look like a ghost. And if you don't mind, I think that is the nickname that I will use. Ghost." Teiros stated with a small chuckle and a sweet smile. he didn't want to be offensive or scare the man, but he had thought it was a darker, more horrid secret that was under the hood. "What I think about it though, is that I know what its like to remain in secret about who you are. I cannot say I know what blood you call kin, for I have never seen one of your likes before, but what you are and what's under your hood is safe with me." His curiosity was satisfied. Even though he had tons more questions to him, he wouldn't ask them. Obviously just showing his face was hard enough. "Now, for your questions. I shall do my best to answer yours." It was only fair.

He felt strange with this man looking over his face. The gaze was almost too intense for him to handle and so he moved his eyes to focus on some stones behind Teiros. Considering the shock and awe that the man showed, Reteni figured that his kind was not known to this man. Perhaps he had not run into another Vaypers while living in the wasteland. Another factor as to why this was was his location. Teiros had his home in a desert location. Because of Vaypers aversion to heat it would make sense as to why Teiros had never seen one.

After Teiros was finished Reteni felt a bit calmer with him. Much of the nerves from before had been pushed back. The tug to run was still in his mind but he was able to keep it back far enough for him to show some courtesy to his host.

"Thank you" he said nodding politely to him. For promising to keep his secret Reteni felt more than just grateful. If this man meant what he said then he knew he could trust him with other things. Yet trust takes time to build and he had only known this man for a few hours.

"My kind can die if the sun touches our skin."
he explained,"and heat can make us deathly ill. " he said hoping that this small explanation would help Teiros understand him even more. "Ghost, that is a strange name but I will accept it"

Again he froze when Teiros gave him his turn at questions. He had so many but where to begin? Which were appropriate and did he even have the guts to ask them. Nervousness began to creep back into the front of his mind.

"I wanted to know what you meant about the mountains moving in the snowy land that is so far from here. As my kind prefers the cold I had felt interested in this place." Reteni felt it best if he asked the first question that had formed in his mind earlier on in the pub. It had been such as strange saying and he wondered if the man meant literally. Slowly he moved his eyes to look into the deep, powerful ones in front of him as he waited for an answer.

It was rare for him to move outside of the desert without some kind of curiosity fueling him. The mountains and places close kept him interested. There were a few places where he never went too but he had only explored the areas that touched the Wasteland, and nothing further. His home was the desert. It was the safest place for him. Especially when Codeal got it into his mind to take flight without allowing Teiros to argue him down. Such events had Codeal forced into doing heavy work when he did force a change, as a form of punishment. The added strength and claws that the form gave him were very helpful for creating things like this hideaway.

"It is my honor to know this secret so I shall repay it by keeping it." It was a saying that his mother taught him. For knowing the secret it was his job to help keep it. Trust in areas like this was hard to come by and when you were a light hearted fool, many thought he was a free tongue as well, speaking everything that he knew without restraint. He only spoke secrets when they were no longer secrets and he was never one to break it first. When a secret had been given to him within only a few hours time of seeing someone, he was hard pressed to show that he was trustworthy. And to keep what little trust was already between them. This man seemed as if he needed a friend more than anything else and living with an abnormality himself, he was more than willing to become a friend.

"I have seen a few who cannot go into the sun. Shadowmasters are known for that. Such weird beings. Living in a world of shadow. Do forgive me, I tend to ramble on a full stomach." When not being able to talk to people due to Codeal's attitude, it was hard to keep from thinking out loud when he had guests. "I am glad that you accept it. It might of been hard to come up with another."

From idle talk to what they came here for. Reaching over to his right, opposite of the fire pit, he grabbed a small bag. Pulling it closer to him, he pulled out an old man with a series of markings all over what seemed to be a face of a mountain range. "The land is cold indeed, and I can tell why your kin likes the area. Few people try to go through there and when they do, they are more unprepared than when they come into the Wastes." Laying the map between them and placing two rocks on each side to keep it from rolling back up, Teiros looked over as if to get himself situated with the map. "I was both trying to scare the fools and telling them the truth. Snow storms, avalanches, and series of scores that I can't explain keep the paths through the mountains shifting. On one day you can find the trails going like this," Teiros stated, pointing with his finger to a set of blue lines on the map. "But they can be moved to other locations as well, as seen in the red. these trails, all eighteen of them were recorded in just one week and in just this one section too. These trails though.. The entire line of mountains are filled with them and I've not been able to trace them once you get within the first set of mountains. But the land is very interesting." Teiros stated, his voice sounding very interesting in the subject of these mountains.

Shadowmasters. Reteni had only heard of these beings in passing while in the market city. The did sound rather frightening and he hoped to never come across one.

He flinched lightly when the man moved to grab the bag. It had happened so suddenly that he had not expected it. Before he pulled out it's contents, Reteni tensed wondering if it was going to be a weapon he'd pull from the small bag. When instead a map was produced, his muscles relaxed yet again. Without realizing it Reteni leaned in closer and over the map to get a better look. For being alone with a stranger it was odd for him to willingly get so close.

As Teiros spoke he found himself getting lost in the map. It looked like a wondrous place and with his ability to phase through things he knew he'd be able to find caves and such that many others would miss. Slight excitement crept on to the pale face as he continued looking over the map.

"Where else have you travelled?"
He asked in a bit of a distant tone, his eyes never leaving the maps surface.

Being unused to someone else in his hideaway, Teiros didn't even think of his suddenness until he felt a shift in the back of his mind. Codeal often times disappears, goes to sleep as Teiros thinks, and then reappears when something goes fishy. Or if he gets bored. Codeal was like his own personal body guard, only thing was he couldn't watch the rear like a true guard could. Only break apart what Teiros senses brought in. Ordinary things that his mind ignored were caught by Codeal and analyzed. When he grabbed the map bag, Codeal alerted him to the shift in Ghost. It wasn't noticeable by Teiros nor was there enough of it for more than a yellow flag, so to say, to be up.

As he talked about the map, the two looked over the map with such interest that it was obvious they shared yet another thing. Maybe that was why Teiros felt as if this man was like him. Cursed within life but sharing his interests. Codeal however noticed something else. Something that Teiros, previously ignorant to thanks to the distance, needed to know. This man wasn't solid. "Watch his body, its alive! No, not alive, not there. No.. Its.. Moving. Fading. This isn't right." Teiros looked at the other now before rubbing his chin. It was at the same time that Ghost asked another question. Where else had he been?

Reaching over, Teiros patted the bag. Jiggling the edge of it slightly, more brown rolls slid out slightly. "I may not be a Rune Writer or anything that deals with these, but they are all my creation. I can't do true detail or even come close to the maps people buy, but they help pass the time." Seven maps in total, for seven of the areas that he had gone too. "But in all of these areas, I have not seen anyone with your likes. I believe my nickname Ghost fits you more than what I first though." He was even more curious now as he brought out another map, laying it on top of the other. If Ghost signaled that it was alright for him to ask more upon what Ghost was, then he would.

Reteni smiled a bit wider as more maps were produced. He could feel the excitement and thrill of travel grow in him. Many times he had this feeling but never acted on it. He knew he would get to the border of his land then turn back. The only way he would ever leave would be with someone he loved and trusted completely. As he studied the current map and even opened a few others he felt eyes on him. Slowly he raised his gaze to find Teiros looking down at him. He rose up and looked back. What was it he was looking at so strangely? When he mentioned how his nickname fit him better than he had first imagined, Reteni looked down at himself. Just barely he could see the constantly shifting skin on his arms and neck.

"Oh, you mean my body" he said in a dazed like tone. "you probably would not find my kind anywhere else. We stay here mostly here in the Wastelands." Reteni looked down at the odd mist coming and going on his skin. He had always been used to it but it was with this new stranger that he really was forced to observe it.

"You will barely find us here as well. We rarely meet up with each other. In fact its amazing that our kind still has children with how shy we all are, even amongst our own kind" As he spoke his words were soft as usual and his eyes looked this way and that. Although he was talking far more than his race found normal, Reteni was still very nervous speaking with the stranger. This nervousness though was beginning to waver as the minutes passed.

Every time he brought out his maps, Teiros felt himself smiling. He enjoyed his work, even though when compared to other maps of the same areas his lacked in quality and perfection, but they were his work of art. There were a lot of memories in the maps and he couldn't help but feel proud that they all made it to this point without being stolen or lost. Even though his maps were out, what Codeal brought up held his attention more than his creation. Shifting skin. Skin that wouldn't hold still in the correct form. Skin that turned to mist. Like a ghost. It was interesting, watching as the mist swirled and danced in the place of skin, but it was also weird. Anatomy of mortals do not allow that.

When Reneti started to speak, Teiros payed attention very closely. His kind was also rare. There was clearly more than just a few but they were only here. Wasn't this the worst place for him though? Within the heat, the direct sun? It didn't make sense to him. Nor could he understand what he was seeing before him. He wasn't afraid just startled and interested. It was like showing a child something shiny but not telling them what it was, even if it might be dangerous to them. The soft voice made the image before him stick more solidly than his body. A Ghost. He was talking to a ghost, a living ghost.

With a gentler move, he reached once again into his bag and pulled out a thin notebook. Opening it, Teiros flipped to a page empty of any writing and jolted down the information he had already. "I assure you, that what I am writing is only for my eyes. These maps and this book have only been seen by you and by me. I am just interested in everything that I like to keep records." Teiros stated as he wrote. A ghost. It was such an interesting idea! "Are you solid or is your form and being made up of mist?" He felt like a fool in a way, not knowing what his guest truly was. But that is how people learn. Questions. "If you don't want to answer, you do not have to. I'm just so curious."

I have a different idea about that.

It amused Reteni slightly as to how curious Teiros was. It made sense considering he had never seen a Vaypers before. But how to answer? Answering this question should not be a problem. As long as he did not tell him of his ability to vanish and phase through solid objects he believed he would be alright.

"I am solid. My body shifts between mist and solid constantly and will increase as I get nervous"
he said silently. The last part of his sentence came out more embarrassed than shy. By admitting this, Teiros could now tell just how nervous his guest was. If it were not for the cloak covering the rest of his body, he would have seen much mist floating off of him. When he finished he sat still and silent. Again the air became awkward. To distract himself he focused back on the maps.

"What other place is good to travel to that my kind would be welcomed" he questioned as his eyes descended back on the map, his long, white fingers slowly tracing one of the colored roads. While he did this he imagined himself walking along it far from this place of stress and worry. Even now his nerves rose at the thought of traveling alone. At least he could have his dreams.
