User ImageRhys yawned and stretched his young body to its limit, blinking his golden eyes and squinting against the early morning sunlight. The pup was not incredibly fond of mornings. It was not that he had anything in particular against them, and the sunrises were pretty enough, but he did not actually enjoy waking up at such an early hour. Better to doze a while longer and allow wakefulness to gradually come to him in gentle, languorous waves. Alas. It was not to be; for he was blessed with two brothers and two sisters, each of which seemed to be considerably fonder of early morning hours than he. Of course, his parents were the alphas, so they were obliged to have early starts, as well. It appeared that fate was against him.

Naturally, he did not hate his siblings or begrudge them anything. Rhys had good parents and a loving family. As such, he loved and cared for his siblings, as well. It was simply that they were so much less mature than he. How could they run off chasing bugs when they could be learning about the world and the way that adults interacted with it? He just did not understand. But back to the point. Their zest for playtime tended to lend itself to those early mornings, amongst other annoyances, to the point that even on the rare days when they did not wake him their yapping, he still awoke far earlier than he would have liked from sheer force of habit. Such was this day.

Rhys sighed and glanced around to see who else was still there, wondering if he could get away with going back to sleep for a little while.

Lounging outside of the entrance of the den Loxley was enjoying the quiet of the morning. Mother and father were busy at the moment but there were plenty of other eyes around the den to make sure the pups stayed safe. Currently his two sisters were playing a bit off in the distance, and not long ago his one brother had gone off to play with spend time with one of their many family members in the pack. That left only one sibling around for him to do anything with. Rolling onto his side Loxley gazed into the den to see Rhys moving a bit. He knew his brother wasn't particularly fond of mornings but surely it was late enough now that he would get up.

"Rhys." He whispered into the den, not wanting to wake his brother in case he had simply stirred in his sleep. "Are you awake yet?" Loxlet narrowed his eyes to see into the darkness of the den and try to determine is Rhys was in fact awake or not. He could have sworn that light had just reflected off of his brothers eyes.

The grey and brown pup stilled at the sound of a sibling’s voice. Could he fake it? His brother did not seem to know for certain that he was awake, yet. Surely he could still get a few more minutes of sleep. Just a few. But…it was Loxley. At least this sibling had the decency not to deliberately wake him when it was at all possible to avoid it, and he knew that his brother must be bored, since they seemed to be the only two in the immediate vicinity. It would only be fair to return Loxley’s courtesy and have the decency not to pretend to be asleep.

Wistfully bidding his dreams farewell, Rhys sighed and got to his feet.

“I’m awake,” he affirmed and padded over to the entrance to sit near the other pup. Never one to initiate unnecessary conversation, Rhys remained silent as he observed the nearby wolves.

Giving his brother a smile as he emerged from the den Loxley looked out towards the trees for a moment. "Bedivere went with father and Allegra and Terrene are visiting Aleutian and her children." He explained before returning his eyes back to Rhys. Honestly he could have gone off with his sisters to play with the older wolves but he had opted to stay back at the den and relax. Besides someone had to stay with Rhys, even though there were plenty of adults around Loxley took it upon himself to keep an eye on his brother while he got some extra sleep in. It would be nice to spend time with just Rhys for a while. Loxley loved all of his siblings but the bond between brothers was a bit stronger than with his sisters.

"You want to do something?" Loxley wouldn't be put off if Rhys just wanted to sit around the dens but he decided to ask just in case. Who knows maybe his brother would want to do something now that he was awake.

Rhys nodded as Loxley explained where everyone was, not that he minded it just being him and his brother. Of all his siblings, he felt closest to this one. Loxley not only understood him, but he also respected his somewhat odd personality. It was nice.

“Sure,” he replied to his brother’s question. Now that he was awake, there was no use going back to sleep. They might as well make the best of the day. But…what to do? On his own, Rhys might shadow one of the older wolves, but would Loxley really enjoy that?

“We can do something you want to do, today,” he offered, not having any real preference. Who knows? It might be nice to change his routine for once.
