Just keeping the window of her bedroom door open had been enough to get the massive amount of fog that wanted to take over her room at ebb. Shehk had tried to close it at one point, but that had just filled her room up all over again. It somehow managed to replicate on it's own. So open the window had remained. Sadly between visibility and room temperature, the visibility had been her priority.

Not that there was anything for her to trip over if she couldn't see in her room. That...had been her first order of business. What did a proper ghoul decorate their room with? Well....

It had been out into the woods with the Pricolici, romping joyously in her natural form with the trees. Shehk appreciated trees a lot more after her ten weeks in the forest of Shady Hollow. What was she looking for out there thought? Well...
...

wood! It was a strange choice in decor, but Shehk was sure bringing a bit of the nature into her room would just spruce the entire place up. She'd dragged a fallen sapling in there a few days previous, so now..
....

now it was trying to find something bigger. Most of the trees were up on their own, and for the most part the woods were well tended to...sans some rot. Rot and mushrooms.

There were a lot of those!

Never the less, she'd done some searching, trying to find something she could drag along..and possibly up some stairs by herself. It took a while, but eventually she did. It was beautiful. A tree had fallen probably quite a long time ago and had broken to pieces over time. It was starting to grow moss and other things on it, but it smelled fantastic.

Shehk immediately went over to investigate, sniffing and shoving her nose into it.

Jove had been pushing himself hard all summer. Between studying, private lessons, and training, he had been exhausted more often than not. He had been bruised and battered, worn down to little more than the wispy essence of his natural form, and still spent all night focused on his heavy tomes so he could better prepare himself for the upcoming semester.

It was no surprise that he would take a day every now and again to chill out. Lately he was removing himself entirely from the temptation to work and study, in favour of a walk in the woods, followed by a short nap out in the peace and quiet. Whenever he found a nice little hollow to sleep in, surrounded by the earthy scents of decaying vegetation and the sounds of birds and bugs humming and chirping, he always slept much more comfortably than in his own room.

Today just happened to be one of those days. Jove wandered out on his own, mid-afternoon for one of his naps, and found himself a beautiful log to sleep in. It was thick with moss and forest scents, and just the right size for little ghost to crawl right in. With the wonderful scent of earth and the muffled sounds of the forest all around him, he curled into a little ball of ethereal fluff and went right to sleep.

He was so peaceful and comfortable, he didn't even wake up when the larger canine drew near, and began sniffing at his hiding place.

Shehk had deemed the log to be a rather nice one with some further investigation. However, the real problem she could see in it was her ability to get it to budge. It was old enough that the earth itself was holding tightly onto it, partially buried. Shehk paced about the log and nudged it with a shoulder. It didn't move. She huffed once and nudged it a bit harder. It barely shifted.

The pricolici growled and a puff of fog floated out through her teeth. Moving to one end of the log, she shoved her head underneath it and jerked her head up, trying to lift it. The log budged with a groan, but not happily so. Another huff and another puff of fog huffed out of her mouth. She pulled her head back out.

She paced to the other side of the log and pushed her body against it, aiming to dislodge it. She wasn't rough with it, trying her best to keep all the nice and natural moss in tact as she moved it. It wasn't making things easy for her.

Shehk didn't even know there was a little fox fire ghost inside of her choice in decor.

Jove was still half asleep when the log started to tilt, but it righted itself before he gained full consciousness. He blinked sleepily in the dark. Had something wandered by? It made little difference to the pup, he just put his head back down and huffed a contented little sigh.

Was this what wild foxfires did all day? Pet foxfires? Life would be simpler with only toys to play with and sleeping places to be slept in, no classes or training to worry about... But he wouldn't have so many friends if he just napped and chewed on things all day...

The pup slipped back to sleep in an instant.

Shehk shoved her head into the log again and lifted it, shifting her weight to slowly ease the one end of it out of the hollow it was sitting in. Phew! It stayed and Shehk sighed a breath of relief before she rounded the log again and pushed one of her canid shoulders against the side of it to further shove it out of the little bed it had worked itself into. Her claws dug into the dirt as she worked at it, slowly shoving it out. It nearly rolled onto it's side, but Shehk yelped and ran around it again to keep it settled on that nice rotten bottom.

She paused, sniffing at the insect infestation that was in the burrow she'd pulled the log out of. Immediately she threw herself into it and rolled back and forth in it, sidling from side to side on her back and huffing. She seemed to be enjoying all of the earthy scents that came with her new acquisition. Rolling back over the pricolici chomped up a mouthful of creeping bugs and worms, chewing on it a bit before swallowing it all down. She seemed pleased with her momentary romp. Then it was off to work on moving the log again.

With a pause, she ducked her head into it again, eyes flickering on with an eerie glow to peer at the inside of it, checking for unwanted passengers..
...
.....

What she found was a fox fire. Her tail whipped from side to side as she eyed it, but she didn't growl. She actually seemed more surprised than upset at the discovery.

Jove was startled back to wakefulness as the log shifted under him. That was not something passing over. He stirred and turned his head to peer, blinking, over one shoulder. And came face to face with a giant, undead creature with glowing eyes and a bare, bone muzzle. Fog washed over the little pup.

He immediately scrambled to his feet and plastered himself back against the solid end of the log, his own glowing eyes wide with fear. What was this monster? Was it going to eat him?! With that bony nose his sharp teeth wouldn't be much of a defence, and the fangs he was up against were longer than his own muzzle. He could only hope he was too far into the log for the creature to get him.

The little ghost was terrified, but he managed to flatten his ears, bare his teeth, and give a tiny, pathetic little growl.

Anndd...why was it..doing..that........?

For a moment, Shehk didn't realize that her undead skullface of a canid body was actually pretty terrifying to wake up to, regarding the small fox fire that was growling back at her with a sort of curiosity as Jove backed up against the further end of the log and growled back at her with a sort of pathetic defense against her.

Not that she was planning to eat the little guy. The idea he could possibly be food had barely passed through her mind.

She soon realized what he was doing, however, and laughed. It wasn't a 'WHAT A PATHETIC ATTEMPT AGAINST ME, MU AH AH AH AH' laugh, but rather a more friendly sounding noise as Shehk pulled her head out of the log, stepping back a few steps before laying down on her stomach and peering in towards the smaller canid again.

"Are you going to come out or will I be dragging you back to my room with this log?" she said, her maw barely moving, almost in an opposite pattern of the words she was speaking. Then again, her canid mouth wasn't actually made for talking.

Jove was relieved when the creature withdrew it's head, but he braced himself for an assault at the log anyway. It was hard not to expect the worst when you were little more than fluff and anxiety. But instead of trying to thrust it's head further in and snap at him, the thing... laughed.

The little pup's growl trailed off into a whine, and he even forgot about baring his sharp little teeth as it- she- spoke.

Then all his anxiety returned in an instant. She was going to take him back to her lair. Then she would probably crack the log like a giant leg of crab and gobble him up. But that fate was preferable to coming out of the log willingly, at least if he stayed in here he could put up a bit of a fight, or wait for the right moment to escape. He could only hope she didn't run as fast...

The little growl started up again, fluffy little brows furrowed as if to say "No way, I'm not going to make it easy."

She's tail twitched from side to side as it seemed what she was said was...not trusted. She had to assume that was what had just occurred. But the pricolici watched him for a moment before she shrugged, stretching out her body before she got up and walked around the log to the blocked off side and threw her shoulder against it to start pushing her new acquisition along. Was Jove coming along for the ride?

Possibly so.

The first thing that would be noticed was that Shehk was not strong enough to push the log in a steady motion. Instead she would push for a while, stop, then push for a while longer, then stop. It was a bit of a rinse-lather-repeat gesture. After about ten minutes of it the pricolici huffed and walked back to the other end of the log, poking her head back into it and seeming to frown, despite her actual lack of lips.

"Seriously, you can come out." she huffed, another puff of fog snorting out of her nose before dissipating into the air. Not that Jove getting out of the log would have made it easier for her to transport, but it was still an option.

Jove thought he had braced himself when the beast disappeared, ready for it to suddenly thrust her nose back in and snap at him, but he hadn't been ready for the hard shove that sent the log forward a good foot. He fell onto his fluffy side and nearly rolled right out of the log. Maybe that was her plan, trying to knock him out so she could devour him whole when he was flailing about off guard.

He growled and spread-eagled himself against the bottom of the log, just waiting for the perfect opportunity to run. But he could never be sure where her focus was, not with the way the log would move, then stop, and start moving again. It was erratic, so he stayed where he was...

And growled.

Every time the log shifted a little growl would echo out from the log's open end, but he wasn't brave enough to zip out. And is fears were only reinforced when that giant head once again poked itself into the log to coax him out. So he just growled.

It probably didn't help Shehk's case any that there was dried blood on her teeth. From squirrels, yes, but dried blood none the less. However, Shehk's patience wasn't as omnipotent as Jove would have suspected. If she'd been wanting to eat him, she would have dragged him out of the log by that point in time. The growling was testing that limited patience quite well.

Shehk's tail twitched a few times before she shoved her face right back into the log and began to growl right back at the small pup. It was a deep rumble and somehow the fact she didn't have lips to curl back and bear at him just made it all the worse to listen to. There was the barest part to her jaws and fog began to billow out from it, the flickering glow of Shehk's eyes flaring up brightly.

She hadn't been intending to be terrifying earlier. Now she was actually trying at it. Did that make it worse somehow?

"If you won't play nice with me, I won't play nice with you."

Jove's growl died in his throat, little blue eyes wide and frightened. He had no doubt this creature would make good on it's threat. Not that being dragged off to be eaten was playing nice in the first place, but the pup was sure there were many ways to be eaten, some worse than others.

He held his breath, and hunkered down against the back of the log.

Okay, no more noises. He would have to beat it out of there soon, before she got tired of hauling the log around and decided to just eat him right there on the spot.

Shehk made this noise that didn't actually sound angry, but more exasperated. She pulled her head out of the log again and walked around it to nudge at the back. Considering it for a moment, Shehk nudged the log a few feet before she looked at the end of it, looked at the log's other end, then sighed.

"I'm going to need hands for this..." she said with a sigh, shaking her fur out before her bones crunched, shifted length, position, and moved to support a biped. Shehk stretched again in her human body, before walking over and crouching to pick up the end of the log, lifting it so it was well above the open end.

"Alright, little guy. Up up up. I need to get this log back to my dorm." she said, making a face. "Well.. rather, I would like to get it there without having to fuss with you the entire time."

Jove's little eyes went wide as he listened to the terrible sound of the creature destroying SOMETHING out there, beyond the confines of his safe little log. He didn't know what it was she had caught, it sounded much larger than a squirrel or rabbit, but how had she caught it? And how did she destroy it so easily? The pup's little body started shaking.

Then... He felt the log start tilting.

With a frightened little whine he tried to brace himself against the edges of the log, digging blunt little claws into the decaying wood as the floor's angle shifted under him. If he fell, he was gonna die all over again, he just knew it... Somehow he managed to get himself wedged in just right, his little legs splayed against the inner sides keeping him safely inside his shelter.

"............"

Shehk rocked the log a couple of times as though that would help dislodge the little ghost that was trying to desperately to stay inside, her lips tightening and tapping her fingers against the log. For a moment she considered her options before she set the end she was holding up down again and instead walked to the other end to lift it up and peer in, eye still glowing in this humanoid body of hers.

She still looked annoyed.

"Dear Sweet Jack, if you end up just being some stupid little animal and not a student at the school, I might end up eating you with how much frustration you're giving me." she said, the intention of possibly eating Jove clearly stated now..
...
...
in a voice that said it wasn't an option before. After a moment she set the end of the log she was holding down again and just grabbed one of the old branches of it, splintered and slowly petrifying, and used it to her advantage in her change-in-body to drag the log along.

It was a much less bumpy ride..except when it hit rocks.
