Ophelia set foot into the open field outside of Clarus Arbor. She clutched a hand-written note in her fist, which spelled out her mission to defeat the witch eater spotted near the village. Taking a deep breath, she materialized her scythe and swung it a few times to get used to the motion. The reaper still wasn't confident in her offensive abilities, but hoped she could weaken the witch eater enough for that not to matter. Humming to warm up her voice a bit, she scanned the fields for sight of the witch eater.
((Each player has 5 HP, first to zero loses, though not necessarily dies. Randomize 1-3, 1 being a miss, 2 being a hit, 3 being a critical hit. Each hit knocks off 1 hit point, and a critical knocks off 2.
Intro posts roll 1-10, higher number strikes first

It was a siren's call for her, the field of flowers not quite yet in bloom. Soon, each one would come and unfurl their petals, and blossoms of color would glitter the ground like gems. It was here she had flown, tiny wings carrying her just onto the edge, Her eyes not yet noticing the reaper, focused far to much on the flowers.
That all changed when the whirl of a blade in the air, and the hum of a woman's voiced reached her ears. "Reaper." Emelia hissed out. So much for just enjoying a day in the fields.
(I have to roll as well after all, I mean, if I get a 1 then it's you're first shot IMO lol)

As the blade whirled, Emelia, wasn't going to waste anytime. She certainly wasn't going to let herself be taken down this day! "What brings you out here girlie?" A cruel smile was on her face as the witch eater raised a chunk of the earth, levitating it in the air before sending it the reaper. "Not here for lil ol' me I hope?"

Ophelia's eyes darted up at the sound of another's voice. Seeing the flash of pink hair, she immediately recognized the witch eater described in the note. Heart pounding as she dreaded the oncoming battle, Ophelia had no time to guard herself against the majin's earthen attack.
As the earth struck her, the reaper slid against the meadow, destroying flowers in her wake. Hurrying to stand, she said, "Actually, I am here for you."
Clearing her throat, she began a slow, dragging tune, humming loudly as her voice was magically amplified to reach the witch eater's ears. It would make her lethargic, like trudging through deep mud. Ophelia then took her scythe and made a hit while she could.

Many things had their place in battle, and flowers were not one of them. Yet as there were crushed and trampled, Emelia felt more sorry for them then she did the reaper. "And just what have I done that warrants a fi-AUGH!" Clutching her head, a noise rattled her, and she groaned trying to fight it off. Why the hell couldn't she move? More then that, why couldn't she-
The scythe got her, and the pain was quick. "b***h!" This was just why she should have stayed inside today. Grabbing a leaf, she sent it at her opponent, the tiny thing acting like small throwing knife.

Ophelia yelped as the thin leaf sliced her shoulder, sending streams of blood trickling down her arm. Clutching the cut as it stung, the reaper replied. "You're a witch eater, you've already done wrong and it's my duty to stop you."
Scowling now, Ophelia rushed in for another swing with her scythe, though the slowing magic from before was beginning to wear off and her scythe hit the ground fruitlessly.

Scrambling the scythe narrowly missed it's mark, and Emelia could feel the magic begin to fade. "Wrong? Wrong? Oh you mean eat a witch's heart, do what is only natural for my kind?" This was why majin were better then humans. They didn't just kill for the sake of it. "We don't chose to be what we are. Those of use who become witch eaters?" Grabbing a weed, she plucked a thorn, casting the same magic as before, tossing the plant like blade at the reaper. "We just stopped pretending to be something we're not."

The blade struck Ophelia in the stomach and the reaper collapsed. "You're...wrong.." she coughed, a small line of blood trickling down her chin. "There are...other ways.." she added, remembering what Phil aspired to do. Looking at her dizzying wounds, she decided it would be wise to pay him a visit.
Taking one more look at the witch eater, Ophelia knew she couldn't beat her this time, and took a few steps back, still watching the pink-haired majin just in case.
(Emelia wins :] lol Ophelia you fail reaper)

Emelia glared and huffed in smug satisfaction at the reaper's retreat. She had won this fight, and her ego was blossoming. In fact, looking down at the flowers around her she cast a small spell, and the flowers began to unfurl early; the magic hastening them along. "I am a majin." She pick up a flower twirling it in her fingers. "I ate a heart and did what was only natural for me. For my kind. To condemn me for this simple fact is like killing the wolf for slaying the sheep. It is our way."
Arms crossed, she dared the reaper to come at her again. "If some wolves want to pretend to be sheep, I say let them, but don't be surprised when wolves do what they are born to do."

Ophelia couldn't understand the majin's logic. Well, she could, but it was still wrong. "Sheep deserve to live without fear, though. And you do yourself injustice by comparing yourself to a beast. That's all you witch eaters are. Mindless barbarians that can't even control themselves..." she said, daring to stand despite wincing from the pain. She held her stomach where the leaf-blade still stuck out from.
"Why senselessly slaughter when the food can be shared peacefully." she said, lingering in place for a moment.

Emelia waved her off. "Please, a wolf is cunning. They know when to strike, how to herd the sheep, pick the right targets, how to work to bring down the strong." That grim smile. "As for sharing food? You think it's so simple? You are the food for us. The source we need. Perhaps a better comparison might be cattle."
Walking up to the reaper, Emelia stood just out of the weapon's reach. "If I didn't have control ...then why haven't I just killed you or eaten your heart already?" Her laughter bubbled up, pink eyes judging the reaper, the witch eater's head and ego flaring up.

Ophelia opened her mouth to respond to the witch eater's first comment, but closed it again when she couldn't think of anything to say. What -could- she say that would convince her to change her ways? Was it so hard to live peacefully without having to kill each other? For a moment the reaper mused the thought that perhaps the two could have been friends if it weren't for this...
The moment passed quickly as the majin continued on, and Ophelia's eyes darted up in cautious curiosity. "Yes....why haven't you killed me?" she said. It was clear that the pink haired witch had won this battle. Ophelia could easily be dead by now. But why would the majin let her enemy live this long?

Emelia was a flighty thing, but more then that she was determined to make a point, as self delusion as it was. She was the witch eater after all, the big terrible monster that all need to fear. A notion and illusion she really thought was more suited for others. Like reapers. Now those..they were real monsters in her eyes.
"Well consider what we just spoke about control. I kill you they send a stronger reaper, thinking I'm nothing more than a violent heart hungry majin. I let you live? You, a weak little thing I could have killed yet I let you walk away? What message does this send? I'm a dangerous criminal, oh well, that is a matter of opinions now isn't it?" Her grin was wide, and for a moment her lip twitched. "No, letting you live, letting you go shows I'm more then a beast. I'm the wolf that herds the sheep. And you've strayed from your flock." A hand waved in dismissal. "Now go on, shoo. If you really do want a simple answer on why I didn't kill you though?" She giggled.
"It's more fun this way."

Ophelia watched the majin carefully, but found herself continuing the conversation. "But how do you know they won't send a stronger reaper simply because I failed? What will you do then?" she asked, her brows raised in question. She grew slightly annoyed at the witch eater's 'shooing' and straightened her shoulders defiantly, despite the sting of her wounds.
"And I am the shepherd that protects her flock." she replied, standing her ground. This woman was strange, intriguing, even, as Ophelia had never actually had the chance to speak to a witch eater before. She wondered, "Is this what all witch eaters believe? That humans are no better than livestock? Is that really all we are to you? You can't simply lump us in among sheep and cows. We have sentient thought, we can speak, we can fight back for those we care about that have become nothing more than fragments of who they once were because of the selfishness of majin like you!" she ranted, raising her voice. "Is there really no peace in this?" she asked, her voice softening as she remembered Phil's dream of curing the majin's eternal hunger. Was his dream all for nothing?

Emelia shrugged and pulled out the ribbon in her hair. "Who ever they send, I'll just fight. And win, naturally." As she tied her hair back up, the witch eater didn't react too much, seeming to have gotten bored.
"It's all metaphorical." An eye roll was given before a scrowl was darkening Emelia lips. "Stars and suns, you think you get off saying I can't lump all humans into one block? that calling you food when really, that is a simple fact of one attribute of what you can be?" Pink eyes narrowed. "Then take your own advice. Don't lump all majin as the same. Some want to live side by side I let them. They only stave off the inevitable. Majin and humans are as different as night and day. Did you ever stop to think that some of us majin regret? That we don't wish different fates for ourselves? That some witches might have-" She cut herself short, pain flickering in her eyes.
"You call me selfish?" The look she gave the reaper was one of regret. "No, to let myself die after what I did would be selfish."
With that, wings unfurled, and the witch eater took to the sky, no longer wanting to talk.
