Enekpe was absolutely ecstatic. What wasn't to love about parties? There were lots of people, and lots of people meant lots of attention for a cute little things like her...although she had had one person try to catch her, thinking she was some critter to be snapped up like the rainbow flooxes running around. But other than that little incident, it was fabulous! k**e was even allowing her to eat to her heart's content, giving her a break from her little 'diet.'
Which may or may not have been a good idea, because the pooka was making up for lost time - and weight - by stuffing her face with just about everything in sight, with the assistance of helpful individuals who could actually reach the tables. Most recently, one had supplied a most excellent solution by just putting her on the table.
It was glorious!

Tien passed the table to pick up a few strawberries when she spotted something small-ish and furry scurrying along the table. Its coat was too dark, and body a little too round, to be a floox. It reminded her a bit of an (overly large) squirrel, albeit without the poofy tail. The critter seemed to be nibbling on a bit of everything that it passed on the table, lingering longer on things that tasted pleasant to it.
"Hungry little one?" Trickery had no idea if the creature was intelligent enough to understand her question, let alone answer it. At the very least it wasn't a true nuisance or it would've been shoo'd back into the gardens away from the festivities by now.

She'd heard a few things along the line of 'what's that doing on the table?' but had largely ignored them, or else piped up with an answer for the ones that seemed most opposed to an animal walking around and eating from the plates. It usually shut them up. Besides, she was perfectly clean! Galitzi gave her baths sometimes.
Enekpe paused in her grazing when she was addressed, lifting her attention from a tray of little desserts to see who spoke. What pretty green wings she had! "Not really," she admitted, "But it's soo good!"
Hungry or no, she would almost always eat when presented with food.

Tien laughed, politely covering her mouth after a moment. She had expected the creature to understand but not talk to her. Very few animals had the gift of speech to something other than their own kind.
"Indeed it is." She smiled softly, her wings fluttering. "So it is the feasting that brought you out to this festive occasion?" This was the largest gathering she had heard of since the ritual that was performed in hopes of bringing back Creation. So many familiar and unfamiliar faces! So much mischief to make, if time allowed that is.
She extended a hand to the little creature. "I'm Tien and you are?"

"Well, I'd've come anyway, but I do like to eat!" Enekpe watched the goddess flutter her wings and stifled a longing sigh. They were like hers had been! Well, sort of. Just enough to make her even more jealous than she was of people with feathery or webby ones.
"I'm En," she answered, and raised a little cloven hoof to meet Tien's extended hand with. "Enekpe." The pooka snuffled at the woman, nose wiggling. "Are you a goddess?"

Tien nodded as she shook Enekpe's hoof politely. "That I am, En. As to who, I'm sure you'll find out with time." Her smile widened, expression turning mischievous. Such a smile from her usually meant a prank was in store at some point, but the pooka wouldn't know that of course. Treats that didn't taste as they appeared perhaps? Something small, meant to be amusing but not outright cruel.
Trickery let go of Enekpe's hoof after a moment and tilted her head. Something was familiar about the little creature, despite the fact that they had just met. "Did you just come for the celebration or are you a...?" Or are you a host, was what she meant to say. It seemed to be a delicate question to ask, everyone seemed to react differently.

The creature flicked her ears with curiosity. Was this a game, then? Was she supposed to figure out who this goddess was? Hmm...
"I'm a host!" The reply was enthusiastic, as En was quite happy with her situation; it was not only an exciting adventure filled with friends and food, but appealed to the very core of her. Sacrifice was a part of her. She puffed out her chest to emphasize the gem set there. "She's Kikechum, and she's Animals."

Enekpe was free to guess if she wished, but it might be difficult until the list was narrowed down somewhat.
Tien hadn't been sure, with so many other divine around. A willing host too, that didn't seem to be a common case among those she had met. "I thought that might be the case. My greetings to her as well then." She couldn't recall any memories of the lady of Animals, so perhaps they hadn't met before now.
While they spoke, Tien mentally sifted through the list of animals she and Morgan had seen in their lifetimes and come up empty. "Pardon my curiosity, En, but what sort of creature are you? Neither I, nor my former host, has seen anything quite like you before."

"I'm a pooka! An evolved one. There aren't many of us, so that's probably why you've never seen one - I haven't either! Except for me, of course. In the mirror." En peered at the goddess, trying to decide what she looked like the goddess of, but there didn't seem to be a lot of hints.

"The only Pooka, huh? Makes you pretty special then, I should think." Tien grinned. "Shall we nab some goodies and find a place to lounge in the gardens until something more interesting happens?" Something interesting was bound to happen eventually with so many others around.

"Thanks! I think I'm pretty cool, too." After all, how many other housepets could talk, and how many of those were hosts to goddesses? She was pretty special, if she did say so herself!
"Sure! Is something interesting supposed to happen?" And, just as important a question, "Can we take some of the little strawberry things? And some chocolate ones?"

"Of course." Tien set about looking for a little dish or something to collect some treats on. After a moment or two she was able to find one and picked up a few of the things En had indicated, plus a few others that the goddess had liked or simply wanted to try. "Not sure what, I've heard little pieces of rumor. It seems something is likely going to happen, after all how often are so many of us in one place at a time willingly?"
She paused a moment, shifting the plate to her other hand. "Anything else you would like me to get?"

"Do you not like to be together?" Enekpe looked quite perplexed by Tien's revelation that the gods didn't often gather 'willingly.' They were all gods, they all lived in the same place...why wouldn't they do things together? It was lonely not to, after all!
The host quickly turned back to the matter of food, though, and surveyed her surroundings before determining that what she'd already asked the goddess to pick up would be enough...for now. She'd already sampled most of this table. "Nope, that's good!"
She was going to be one sick pooka later, but until then, she was quite happy to continue stuffing her belly full of food.

"Mmm...the best way to describe it is like a big family. Some siblings you get along with, some you don't. As for myself, it would be too easy for them to find out if I were up to something so I spend a lot of time just with my aodei or mortals." Tien chuckled and held out a hand to the pooka. "Able to make it through a crowd, would you want me to carry you so you don't get trampled underfoot?"

"Really? But what would you be up to that they shouldn't find out about?" And why would the rest of the gods mind? Was it something bad? She seemed nice, though! Her ears flicked with uncertainty.
"Could you carry me?" she answered, apparently not suspicious enough to go running in the other direction. Besides, she did so like to be carried!
