Demons are baroque creatures that seem to aspire soul collection as their reason of existence. They possess superhuman abilities as well as the skill to transform into their own unique creature pertaining to their demonic aura. They are known to form Faustian contracts with humans in order to eat their souls when the human's wish has been fulfilled. In YML, this specific class does not begin as Demon Butler but starts with the master (who has not yet formed a pact) as the first stage of evolution. In this sense, the staff also refers to this class as D.Butler, Master/Butler, as well as simply "Demon". RETURN TO PETS ✦ WIKIA

FAQs Q: In the Kuroshitsuji series, demon butlers are more or less invincible. How is there conflict in this B/C IT if they’re technically flawless? A: Demon butlers may have the advantage when it comes to physical/aggressive situations. However, this RP is strictly plot oriented. Your demon butler is expected to be confronted with conflicts that do not only adhere to physical ones, rather, even internal ones due to their masters. Their masters themselves should be conflicted in some way, be it inner or outer turmoil (otherwise a pact would not have been formed). The growth of your characters is dependent on how they overcome the main plot hurdles as well as their personal ones.
Q: Does the master have to be an orphan? Does he/she have to be a child? A: While the Kuroshitsuji series’ Alois and Ciel are both young orphan boys, YML’s masters’ ages can vary. They are also not always necessarily male (refer to Hannah). However, logically speaking, the masters wouldn’t sell their soul to a demon unless they felt utterly alone in this world to the point that they could trust no other person with it or that they had nothing to lose. Most importantly, the would-be master would need to have prior knowledge of how to summon demons in order for he/she to have formed a pact at all. How they came to obtain that prior knowledge is up to you!
Q: What's it like to form a pact? What does the pact look like? A: Pact forming can be in the form as an extremely desperate cry for help to a demon (no fancy spells/rituals required) to chanting ancient spells that are used for devil summoning. These "spells" have a poetic form with no specified pentameter and each demon has a unique one pertaining to himself/herself (there are no two summoning chants that are alike). The images of the pacts are usually associated with the demon's symbol located within a circle. ICly, you are free to describe its appearance in whichever form you wish, this will help Pistolsys design its artwork for you later when you get to the solo RP in which you will explain the forming of the pact itself. The pact's seal is depicted on the back of the Demon Butler's hand (kind of like a tattoo) and an identical image is also located elsewhere on the Master's body, usually in a place that can be hidden and revealed with ease (ie: Ciel's eye ; Alois's tongue).
Q: Can my demon influence my human character on the subject of which faction the pair will join? A: Logically speaking, the demon butlers are most likely to obey their master's intentions. The fact that the two already formed a pact suggests that the demon should not be the authorative figure of the two. However, if it is more sensible to your character's development, you may have your demon somehow indirectly persuade his/her master's decision.
Q: Do all Demons have black hair and red eyes? A: According to the canon, the hair and eye colors of the Demons vary. Frankly, pistolsys thinks too much red and black would depress her because emo isn't all that fascinating.
Q: How old are Demons? A: Demons have been around since Angels have. Their ages, like Shinigami, vary from as young as in their late teens to millions of years old. However, they appear to look quite young physically.
Q: In what ways are Demons unique from one another in YML and the canon? A: Demons differ from one another in personality majorly (which your magnificent brain is the potter of), the image of the Faustian pact symbols each use (each demon has one designated to his/herself), and their animal familiar forms. These three elements are tribiotic in that they are representative of each other and work off each other.
Q: Can Demons identify other Demons, Shinigami, or Dolls? A: Demons can definitely identify other demons because they share the same aura, though they might not know the other's name (if they'd never met before); whether they choose to let anyone else know that the other is also a demon is up to them entirely though. It is variable whether a demon can identify a Shinigami and more difficult due to the Shinigami Office's recent augmentation on disguises; in the canon, demons can through their prolific sense of smell. However, ICly, it is more difficult. It is impossible for almost anyone (demon or not) to identify a doll since their physiognomy is so lifelike.
Q: Will my demon be able to transform into his "true demon form" like Sebastian did in the canon? A: While all demons in the canon and YML have adapted human appearances to fit in the human world, the staff discourages transformation of any sort UNLESS it is his/her animal form because we honestly can't think of a reason of why a demon would face an opponent so powerful. This is discouraged until there is an event that allows it otherwise.
Q: What is an "animal familiar" form? A: Demons always appear to the human who summoned them for a pact in the form of an animal (ex: Sebastian is a crow; Claude is a spider). In the anime/manga, they seldom transform sans the moment before their pact was formed. All animal familiars are of black color, according to Kuroshitsuji tradition. For the sake of diversity, we would appreciate if you chose one that has not yet been picked.
Q: How is a Demon's name determined? A: It is important to note that the master gives the Demon a human name/surname and appearance. However, for the sake of the artist, the demon's appearance is pre-determined so that all your master is responsible for ICly is naming his/her Demon. You will need to explain the naming process in your pact prompt.
Q: If Demons devour a human's soul once the contract has been met, is my demon allowed to fulfill the contract's requirements? A: Technically, yes, but we would rather you never do that (for the sake of the ability to do more RPs) but you are more than welcome to do so after reaching the Prominence stage.
Q: But if I do, I'll just have a Demon. What do I do with him/her? A: Logically, the demon has no purpose of remaining in the human world after a contract has been fulfilled and therefore returns to Hell. In shop terms, you would have to return him/her to the staff UNLESS you quested for another human who is a staff-approved second partner. In return, your demon's appearance would revert to his/her Stage II (basic butler costume). He/she is also eligible for a new name/surname at this time (because it is up to his/her new master to name him/her).
Q: So I could technically rinse/repeat this process? A: Yes. Demons are a never-ending evolution so long as the masters you give him/her are stamped and approved.
Q: Okay, so my Demon cannot share a romance with his/her master. what about any other character? A: None of the Demons in the canon have exhibited clear, romantic feelings (we ask that yaoi/shounen-ai fangirls courteously refrain from correcting this). Because of the canon, we strongly discourage it until the canon proves otherwise (fangirls cross your fingers). HOWEVER, the canon DOES suggest that if the Demon's master's orders somewhat indicate that his/her Demon is required to feign romantic interests, it is allowed so long as it deems the situation appropriate (ex. Sebastian and Beast).
Q: What is the Prominence stage? A: If your Master/Butler are prominent figures that have become influential and useful to their factions, their factions will recognize them as prominent.Literally, it means they have become so important that they gain a complete costume redesign in which if you've done a good job, Pistolsys will allow you to influence the next costume.

PERKS & ADVANTAGES & DISADVANTAGES DEMON BUTLERS HAVE THE MOST GAINS OUT OF ALL THE CLASSES!! - outfit redesign upon reaching prominence (custom made if you’ve really done a good job!!) - family seal art (more than one depending on how many cycles your demon goes through) - pact art - major inclusion in plot - counts as 2 characters (so if you have a butler/master you cannot gain any more characters) - endless evolution cycle (see FAQ) as long as you are proficient enough to produce custom humans every time that the staff approves
