L'été Au Cirque Summer is here, and Le Cirque du Soleil has created a new show - Gaia style! The name of the show is Eté soleil. The story is this: IntroductionYoung siblings, the boy, François, and the girl, Madeline, play in a summer meadow. A sunbeam touches down to the earth, becoming solid, creating a bridge to a magical romantic journey that takes the children through the entire history of the sun mythos. From ancient Egypt, through the sun worship of the pagan people, to the history of ancient asian lands, the children are presented the wonders of the universe, and the pantheon of human solar mythology. In honor of the new item: Le Carousel, and as a dedication to summer in every land, GNA presents: Le contest de l'été! Use tektek to create an avatar and storyline that would fit with the introduction. Use your own creativity and imagination, to create something completely magical, or tap into the stories and mythologies of ancient lands (aka, do some research) - however you do it, it's entirely up to you - with a few provisos, of course: The Rules:Create an avatar, using tektek.
Create a storyline, or description, to go with your avatar, that fits with the Eté soleil theme. ** This doesn't mean, to write a story, more of a synopsis - not more than 3 paragraphs, please. **
Submit all avatars, to this thread, with their storylines, by August 3, 2011.
Again, I will be the sole judge of the winners. The prizes:First, second and third prizes will be awarded.
The prizes are: Le Carousel, Summon Barnacle Fluff, and Double Rainbow.
The first place contestant will get first pick from this list, second place, the next, and third place, the remaining item. Good luck and enjoy the contest! For more about le cirque, visit the Cirque du Soleil, site. smile

First to post! And I have a question. What kind of storyline are you looking for? Like a back-story to a character?

Clover_IceQueen First to post! And I have a question. What kind of storyline are you looking for? Like a back-story to a character? Anything that fits with the main idea, exploring the lands/mythology of the sun. You can make up your own idea, or borrow heavily from mythology. For instance, my current avatar has kind of an Egyptian theme. My description could be: The mother of Ra the sun god, Neith, was met by the two children in the two lands of Egypt. Followed by the the cat, the ultimate worshipper of the sun, Neith represents the bright sky with gold for the sun and feathers, and hints of the underworld in the starry sky of her skirt. The children stay for a day and a night, in the land of the Egyptian sun. Though, it doesn't even have to be that long. I could write: A summer sky and a starry night capture the romance of the Two Lands of ancient Egypt. Feathery hair and golden accessories are the sunny sky, and the skirt and cat represent the night. So, a synopsis/story, or a short description are both fine. I just want to see that people thought about the costume in terms of the theme.

Submission: the avatar I am wearing. Title: Ra's Twin Sister Story: The Egyptian god, Ra, was celebrated as one of the most important gods of Egyptian mythology. Still, no one knew that he had a twin sister, Re. She was born abnormally pale and very weak, so she was hidden from society so that the gods would not be shamed by her. Throughout all her years of hiding, she has prepared herself to one day break free and take her revenge on those who had locked her away. Older, stronger, she makes a triumphant return. Now, she rules the sky as the pale and gentle dawn, while her brother Ra rules the afternoon in scorching, gleaming light.

Submission No. 2: Title: Lady Pancake Story: Once, there was a little girl who had no parents, and she didn't know her name or where she came from. One day, she was playing outside when, suddenly, and tree fell and crushed her legs. Thankfully, someone came along to save her, and that person was a highly respected lord with a lot of money. He was able to pay for skilled doctors who were able to save her life, but her legs were forever flat and crushed. From then on, she was the adopted daughter of the lord and was known as Lady Pancake because of her flat legs. Soon, she came to an elaborate-looking tent and wondered what it was. She asked her new father if she could see it, and he said that she could if she returned by suppertime. Unfortunately, it was a circus tent, and the ringmaster had taken a liking to her fair features and freakish legs. She was kidnapped and forced to stay in the freak show for the rest of her days and sleep with the ringmaster for the rest of her nights. That is the sad tale of Lady Pancake. (Also one of my dream avis.)

Submission: http://www.tektek.org/avatar/45298120Title: Ignored Beauty Description: Polaris is the most ignored patron in the circus walls. She has been a member of the circus for about fifty years. When she first joined, she was the star of the show. She had the power to make light out of darkness, and cold into heat. Because of her being showed up from the others, she sits in the corner, remembering what was. Her heart has turned black, so everything around her has turned to a deep, cold darkness.

My submissionMeet Huitzilopochtli, the god of war and the sun to the Aztecs. He was born full grown and wearing armor, and cut off his sister's head, who was about murder their mother. The Aztec people cut out the beating hearts of captives in sacrifice to Huitzilopochtli, believing that he and the sun needed human sacrifice to survive. Some sources say that the sacrificed individuals were sometimes eaten as well. My greatest inspiration came from http://www.ehecatlart.com/Huitzilopochtli.JPG and http://www.citizenmoose.com/images/aztec/huitzilopochtli.jpg, with much of the information coming from http://www.windows2universe.org/mythology/huitzilopochtli_sun.html, http://home.freeuk.net/elloughton13/huiz.htm, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huitzilopochtli and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Human_sacrifice_in_Aztec_culture.

I really love this, and the Aztec theme is a big one, for me - I love the new world civilizations and find them fascinating. I'm sorry to tell you, though, that the contest ended yesterday. sad I'll be having another in about a month, though. Watch for the guild announcement! <3
