Clarus Arbor was a place that for all is quaint modesty, Emelia found herself sometime envying those who lived closer to Moonfall, her hometown. But when given the choice of the hustle and bustle of the city, of the freedom and ability to just stretch her wings time to time? Much nicer. Still with the situation going on about some witch eater stealing an powerful Alchemia's heart...It wasn't as free as it used to be. More witch hunters were around these days, grounding Emelia.

Ah well, she'd rather keep her feet grounded then end up dead. A today was shopping day. The clothing store would have some fashions on sale, the carts would have fresh fish as always, and the fruits and sweets? To die for. New stock meant new fun things, and best yet, new books on exotic fruits she could try to grow. Picking up a small plant she debated getting it. She'd wanted to try growing a lemon tree, and the tiny sapling would need a lot of care. And magic. But the payoff would be delicious.

It wasn't often that Kiarei made her way to the market, but she had found herself a little low on a few crucial herbs and, thus, needed to venture forth to see if she could find bulbs or seeds for them. To keep herself a little inconspicuous she had donned a white cloak to cover her ears and conceal her tail at least a little. That done she had strode to town, offering hesitant smiles to those that looked her way and gave a double-take; it seemed that despite her efforts she looked a little out of place still, but she wouldn't let it bother her.

She began to browse one of the outdoor kiosks, looking curiously from one plant to the next before biting her lip and smiling a little. Well, she supposed that she could always get a few things that she didn't necessarily need as well. Kia picked up a few items as she browsed the shelves, surprisingly finding everything that was on her list. Turning she headed for the woman that owned the cart only to stumble and bump into a pink haired girl, causing her to gasp and begin apologizing immediately.

"Oh no! I'm s-so s-sorry! Are you alright?" Kiarei gasped out, tears of distress rising in her eyes. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to run into you!"

It was an occasion that didn't often happen, the occasion being running into people when standing relatively still. Jolted, Emelia almost dropped the tiny tree to be. A small jumble, and luck on her side, the the sapling remained safe. Looking at the girl, (was it a girl?), Emelia'r lips pursed, ready to yell and her when a string of apologies was slung her way. Oh? Well-

A laugh bubbled up from her chest at the girl's rapid fire apology. "Eh, it happens. Nothing broke, no harm no foul. besides," A grin, pink eye narrowing with a mischievous glint. "I was just read to- Oh hey" Was the girl crying under that hood? "Why you crying? It's not you did anything wrong. ." Shrugging her shoulders, the pink haired heart eater was curious about the hood. "Why you hiding anyways? It's not like you're going to be attacked." Not like she would be if she pulled out her wings.

They were just wings after all.

Kiarei blinked a little when the girl before her seemed to forgive her easily. Biting her lip she swallowed thickly, lowering her eyes before blinking when it was mentioned that she was crying; she supposed it was rather obvious. Quickly she lifted her hands and wiped at her eyes, quickly brushing the forming tears away before they could fall.

"I-I..." She stammered at the next question, flushing a little. "I-I'm not really hiding... Just... I get cold a little easily and..."

After a moment she bowed her head a little, her ears drooping beneath the hood of her cloak. She wasn't certain why she bothered attempting to lie or fool anyone considering that she was horrible at it. Never mind that it was really not a kind thing to do and... She was upsetting herself again. With a quickly wipe at her eyes again she looked back up, looking a little shy.

"W-well people... Tend to stare at me... When I go out... Because... I look different... so..."
Kiarei admitted, lowering her eyes once more. "S-so I cover up..."

A smirk rose as the hooded girl dried her eyes, meaning Emelia had one less thing to worry about. That and a girl crying always drew such attention, if not from strangers, but from guys looking to be the macho man. "Hiding under a hood won't help your cold. Sunshine on your skin however, the smell of a rich full garden, a bowl of fruit hand picked? Now that helps with a cold. Better then any magic as well." Unless you were hungry, then magic was delicious.

Tilting her head to the side, Emelia scowled as she got the real answer for the hood. "Seriously?" Bending she peered into the hood and smiled. "People stare because they don't understand. And in being different, doesn't that just make you more precious?" She lifted up a small yet to bloom rose. Handing the stall's owner some quick pocket change, she brought it towards the girl.

A simple spell, and the bud unfurled, red and white petal glowing from the magical jump start. "My name is Emelia, Emelia Erost" She held out the flower. A small peace offering.

Kiarei offered the girl before her a sheepish look when she noticed the scowl on her features. It wasn't very polite to lie to people after all, though she wasn't certain why she had decided to cave so quickly and simply offer up the truth. However at her words she blinked, tilting her head a little, ears flattening; perhaps they didn't really understand, but that didn't mean she didn't want to get stared at.

"I... Well... I guess there isn't anything wrong with it..." Kia began before blinking at the rose that was presented.

Slowly the bud began to unfurl itself before her eyes, causing her face to immediately brighten in delight. She reached out to take the rose, staring at it for a long moment before looking back to the girl that had offered it to her. At the introduction she smiled brightly and nodded her head, looking rather pleased with the flower she held.

"My name is Kiarei."

A grin as the girl offered her name, and the witch eater considered the day to thus, be a success. A name and a smile. Good things she could dwell on later. Did it really matter? Hardly, but getting a name was always a good thing. "Kiarei huh?" Emelia gave a curtsy, offering a bit of mischievous smile. "I like it. Well Miss Kairei, what brings you out the fine markets on this day? Shopping I hope." hands clapped together. It's what I intend to do. Shop, get a few needed things, spoil myself with new shoes or some make up. Maybe even a nice novel to curl up with later."

Giggling she added on. "But not one of those romance ones. I'm more a mystery girl...but a bit of fluff in always nice." She looked at the witch. If she was lucky she might get a little magic meal. Might not be a heart, but..hey, a free meal would be free after all.

Hesitantly Kiarei returned the other girl's smile, slowly lifting her hands to lower the hood of her cloak, revealing her slightly drooped ears. Usually she didn't really like shopping with them exposed but it was a little easier to do so when she had company. That way she could focus her attention on someone and ignore the quiet murmurings. Emelia was a good distraction from the rest of the market-goers and she appreciated that; it was a little hot to be wandering around in a cloak anyways.

"I... Yes... I'm shopping a little... For herbs mostly." she murmured, her voice soft as she cast a look down at the small basket she still held; she'd been about to pay.

At the mention of the things that Emelia was shopping for her eyes widened a little and her ears perked. Beneath her cloak her tail swished a little, showing her intrigue concerning the subject. Perhaps her childhood hadn't been all that normal, especially not considering that she had read few, if any, fictional novels, but she did love hearing about it. Kiarei had always wanted to pick up a piece of fiction on one of her trips but she always seemed to forget. Perhaps this girl could serve as her reminder in a way.

"Oh... I don't really read any..." she murmured, biting her lip and averting her eyes. "Maybe you can introduce me to some?"

As the hood was lowered Emelia's reaction was almost instantaneous. The ears and the colors had her giggling. "Oh Gods, you- You're-" Laughing she wanted so badly to reach out and rub them. "You're absolutely adorable! Ohhh they're cute. Can I touch them? Oh er- that is, if that's not rude. They're just so cute!" Even as the seller looked a touch uncomfortable, Emelia paid no mind, grinning at Kairei like she was best thing on the block.

"So those are why you wear your hood then? Bah, don't you dare hide them. Aughhh, I can't get over it Kiarei, you're just too sweet for your own good." Grabbing her hand, the majin was set in her plan now. It was girl time. Or rather, shopping time. "Herbs, you have. But oh have you ever been to the local shoe seller, or the hat store? Oh oh, I will just have to take you to the most lovely garden tea house. After we pick you up a few books, of course." Her own choice plant was forgotten. She had a new fixation, and it currently was right in front of her.

"Oh look at me you've gotten me all excited now. Ah i just do love shopping days."

Kiarei at first shrank back a little at the laughter, thinking she was being made fun of yet again. However when Emelia finished what she was saying the Mononoke blinked slowly, a wary hope filling her. Hesitantly she offered the other girl a smile before nodding her head a little. Not many people asked to touch her ears and, well, just like any wolf, it felt rather nice to her, almost like a massage.

"Yes... You can touch them." she shot a small smile at the clerk before averting her eyes, feeling slightly self-conscious still.

At the compliment she flushed a little, looking away shyly; she really wasn't used to such kind words. Her tail flicked beneath the cloak as she resisted the urge to wag it. After all she wasn't a dog and it wasn't very lady-like to behave like one in any form or fashion. It was just surreal to have met a stranger as kind as Emelia was turning out to be. She blinked at the barrage of questions before giggling happily, gently squeezing her new companion's hand.

"I actually... Don't ever really go shopping..." Kiarei admitted softly, biting her lip. "Maybe you can teach me to like it."

So far Emelia was quite charming and seemed rather knowledgeable when it came to shopping trips. Hopefully she did not end up boring the poor girl, especially considering how shy she was. Despite her doubts she found herself excited to go 'shopping'. She could afford to spoil herself a little, she supposed, since she never did.

"I think I'm a little excited too."

Giddy was a good term to describe the way the witch eater felt. She'd come for one thing and now, had found something even better then the original. Reaching out and rubbing Kiarei's ears as she walked, Emelia was going to hit up her favorite shop first. That shop being the shoe shop. A girl could never have too many shoes after all. "You don't go shop? Ha! Well, I'm sorry my dear but with me around that just isn't an option."

Happy to drag her new friend into the shoe store, Emelia dashed over to the display, already pulling off several things. "Try everything at least once, because you never know if you might just have an outfit to match!" Looking at her companion's feet however- "Errr...do you know you shoe size? Uh..."
PostPosted: Tue Oct 11, 2011 12:15 am

While she couldn't understand Emelia's exuberance over something as simple as shopping, it was certainly infectious. She found herself smiling and laughing softly as she walked alongside Emelia, leaning a little into the gentle stroking of her ears. It wasn't often that anyone really seemed to want to touch them so much and it was oddly pleasant despite despite its strangeness.

"I-I suppose that it can't hurt..." she breathed, following the other girl closely through the crowds. "If you enjoy it that much, I mean."

Thus Kiarei followed her new-found friend into the shoe store, her eyes a little wide as she peered about the shelves. Most of what she owned was rather modest and came from the local leather workers in Clarus Arbor, thus she had never really seen anything like these shoes. They were tall, short, some with heels, others without, many of them with ribbons or bows in a rainbow of colors. She was so distracted that she almost missed Emelia's question, blinking owlishly at her before offering a sheepish smile.

"Erm... I... No... I've never really... Had a chance to find out..."

A sin, a cardinal sin. Gasping and waving over another woman, she huffed. "Well, you're going to find out. And then- we'll try on as many shoes as we like." As the woman began to measure Kiarei's feet, Emelia was busy pulling boxes and lining them up.

"Okay, what type of show do you think you'd like? Strapless? Something with some lacework? Embroidery? Once we know you shoe size we can take our pick, order some up." Pulling out the first shoe, it was dark pink and purple sandal. A bit more towards Emelia's tastes really.

Kiarei flushed a little as a woman approached them and gently ushered her into a chair where she had her sit. The woman went about measuring her feet, causing Kia's ears to droop a little self-consciously. Was it really so strange that she had never really had a reason to purchase fine shoes like these?

"I... I'm not sure..." she breathed, looking shy. "What do you think would look best?"

Her gaze fell to the boxes that Emelia was pulling from the shelves, feeling more than slightly overwhelmed. She was glad that Emelia was there to help her figure this out but it still felt... Strange. After all she had never even considered wearing heels in her entire life; they were far too impractical.

"I... Those are very colorful." she murmured, smiling a little. "Though... Maybe something more... Plain? White maybe?"

Emelia smiled as the woman found Kiakei's shoe size. Peitite feet indeed, she'd be able to wear some of the cutest things! "Personally," Emelia began, "I like a little bit of lacework. Something colorful but not too bright. And heels. A girl can never have too many heals." Looking at some of the shoes on display there were not that many white ones but- Pulling one over, she showed it off. A small flat, white with a small red leather flower.

"How about this one? Not the most fancy, but very cute and probably very comfortable."
