If your going to sew, just make sure you plan, and measure everything you need. I have messed up alot of seing for my cosplays, and was forced to abandon them eek yup, that bad.
Although, sewing and fabrics arnt my thing. If you need help with armor, weapons, or ideas like that, Im the guy you need.

Start simple, then reach for the stars.
Don't assume you can create the craziest outfit from the start.
Always practice, and use the cheap fabric to do so.
That way if you mess up, it doesn't matter ^.^

Don't let people tell you that you can't cosplay on a budget, and that if you do, it won't look good.
When I started cosplaying, people told me that I would need a steady flow of income and a lot of extra money. So instead, I went out of my way to learn to budget myself and make a costume on limited amounts of money.
IT CAN BE DONE, and the results can be fantastic! You just have to practice!
Buy your fabric on sale, look for unconventional ways to make things, etc. You can make a brilliant cosplay on a budget-- I do this with everyone one that I make!
