So, we get suggestions for off little User Interface additions all the time. I can't imagine them ever being a priority, but a number of them would actually be worth having. What's more, we don't have a lot of incentive for getting our developers to add them - they're really focused on adding the things that will keep the game around longer, namely Buddies and new content. And who could blame them?

I've proposed the idea before of having the PDA expanded to include some of these 'apps' - much like the Pokétch that appeared in Pokémon Diamond/Pearl. It would retain its default functions (Local/World Map, Active/Completed Quests), while gaining a number of new tabs through... Other means. User Image

Cash, anyone? sweatdrop

Do you think people would be willing to pay 49GC (or the Marketplace equivalent) for an extra UI function? Essentially, I'd expect them to work similarly to the Headstart Tickets - the first copy soulbinds, and having one present in your inventory simply gains you access to that feature. Perhaps add an in-game feature for 'Salvaging' one (i.e. deleting it, despite being soulbound), if you think that'd be necessary.

In the same facet (and rather undeserving of its own thread, I think) would be Cash emotes. Those, though, could (not necessarily 'should') be more similar to powerups, and actually carry a limited usage count - though that does make them awfully undesirable. Perhaps we should save Powerup-form emotes for silly event drops (seasonal emotes at Christmas, Hallowe'en, Easter, etc. - something I recall seeing in PWI), and leave any Cash emotes as permanent fixtures.

Aaand, I'm rambling - time to cut me off. Thoughts, ideas, opinions? sweatdrop

There are things I'd be willing to spend 49gc on, like stealth mode...I presume if I had it enabled, it would then affect everyone else's map, not just those with the app tho. However some things, like the easier buff check panel, I think should be basic for everyone.

I really like the idea of event powerup emotes!

Funny; I was thinking just the opposite. Your Stealth Mode suggestion (while I did consider it for this) seems like something everyone should have available; we have the option to freely hide our online status on the site, and it only follows that we ought to be able to do so on zOMG!. The buff check panel, on the other hand, is clearly intended simply to make things easier - I'd be much more comfortable selling that in the Cash Shop, than the other.

Generally, if it's a matter of convenience (the Buff Checker, Stopwatch/Timer, and possibly up to gataka's Crew Billboard suggestion) I think it fits well in the Cash Shop - if it's actually new in-game functionality (like Stealth Mode), I think it's better offered for free...

I think it comes down to which things are universally desireable, and which are going to be wanted by only some players. There are probably many people who don't buff check, don't lead, and just wouldn't care about a buff check panel, so you may be right. 3nodding

And certainly I have no objection to free stealth mode! xd

If it's a simple matter of desirability, we ought to be charging money for the ones people really want to buy... wink

Not so much about how much we want it, as about how many want it.
We don't want to see it turned into a situation where you can't effectively play without spending money. That would drive too many away.

Which is why I relegate the convenience-bits to the Cash Shop. There should never be such a situation that lacking a merely convenient feature will make you effectively unable to play. Anyone can play without a Buff Checker, Timer, or Crew Billboard - in fact, you can even buff check, time runs, and form crews without them. So long as that's the case, I believe, it's perfectly acceptable for the feature to see the Cash Shop - and the more widely desirable it is, the better. 3nodding

One point to note is that duplicates would be useless; thus, the only way to really make money on these is by offering popular features - if everyone's only buying one, you need those 'ones' to add up... sweatdrop

bronstahd is, which is why we started sending out Guild Announcements, for a while. [ JK ] has Guild invites turned-off, but I did show it to him when I first made it, and have sent him links to relevant discussions in here a couple of times, since. swarf received an invitation, with no response... redface

Hopefully JK checks it now and then, although he may find it actually depressing, since he's unable to implement the great ideas.
