Amjad wasn't accustomed to being out on his own. No family, no friends, no pride members. It was him and every stranger known to feline kind. Fierce women, sissy men. He was finding it hard to find anyone who wasn't automatically weary of him or outright aggressive and it was beginning to try his nerves. Right now all he wanted was to go home, curl up next to his mother, and have his mane groomed thoroughly to calm his nerves.
"I am at the least a failure of a man," Amjad muttered to himself, wallowing in his apparent self-pity.
Unlike back home, he'd been striking out quite nicely with all the womenfolk in the Rogue Lands. The only lady that had even been remotely interested in him was a Wild Dog, and that was because he decided to be nice and shared his dinner with her so he wouldn't be so lonely. Damn he felt pretty pathetic right now. He couldn't return home without a woman on his paw, he'd be the laughing stock of Pads everywhere.

Tandotti was rather enjoying her time alone. As an adult, she had finally struck out away from home and left her two father's behind. Oh, she still adored them, but she was old enough that she really wanted to feel like she was an independent adult. Of course, not everything was that simple. She'd been kicked out of her den by a larger, grumpier and more aggressive lion the night before, so she was exhausted.
She gave a large yawn as she moved, her usual bouncing steps slightly sluggish and slow. The lion had been so mean to kick her out but perhaps he needed it more? She sighed. Either way, she was tired.
" I need a nap," she mumbled quietly, glancing around, in hopes of finding a den.
There was none in sight and she wouldn't risk sleeping during the daytime alone - especially as a female with no fighting skills. Huffing, she longed to scurry back to her fathers and curl up for a nap with them, but she wouldn't, she decided firmly. She couldn't!
...Oh, but it would be nice, she thought, and continued on her self designated path.

As Amjad's pity party managed to summon some rain clouds in the heavens, it wasn't a strong enough party for him to completely miss the giant yawn that managed to linger through the air. His black ears perked up through shockingly-blue mane and he lifted his head to look around to find the source of the yawn.
It didn't take him long to spot the dark lioness off in the distance. Feeling a little less than his smug self he dunked down in the grass, not wanting to be seen. A lioness off her guard was much different than one on her guard, and for all he knew the sweet looking yawner was a fierce little brawler who would rip a few claw marks across his handsome face.
"... Do I talk to her?" Amjad mused aloud, peeking over high grasses with his bright red eyes. "I talk to her."
And with that very... eloquent deliberation, Amjad began to quietly stalk through the grass in attempts to get as close as he could to her without being seen. Little did he know, this was possibly the worse idea to do to a lone lioness in the history of forever.

Caught up in her sleepiness, Tandotti didn't noticed the male in the distance, and after he had ducked down into the grass, it would have been quite hard for her to spot him, so she continued walking unaware of his approaching. She stifled another yawn.
"Stop that," she scolded herself, but only caused yet another yawn. Wonderful. She was going to swallow bugs if she kept walking and yawning, she mused, and gave a small laugh. Yuck.
Flickering grass in the nearby distance caught her attention for a moment, and she paused, peering at it curiously. It shifted and rustled but she shrugged it off. Must have been the breeze, she excused, and sure enough, a gentle gust of wind floated passed her, making her smile. Her tiredness was merely making her paranoid.
Still...she cast a suspicious glance at the grass and continued onwards. Her fathers' would be proud of her cautiousness, she mused, smiling.

Amjad stopped moving when Tandotti looked his way. Had he been spotted? No? When she looked away he had his answer, but for some reason he was pretty sure she was still looking. He'd have to be slick and quick in his movements.
With quick mini-sprints through the grass, Amjad managed to get within twenty-five yards of the black lioness, now being able to see the pretty purple and pink that adorned her coat. She looked as if she could be related to his family, save for the markings on her. They didn't look like they matched anyone's in the pride either, which was good.
Wait... Why was he even thinking about that? He didn't even know her. He didn't know her name, or her personality, he couldn't tell whether or not she was someone who was sweet, or someone who was sour. It made him feel like he was like other Pads. The ones who forced girls back with them, whether they wanted it or not. He didn't want to be like that. He sighed.
Taking a deep breath, Amjad decided to pick his head up and speak to the black, purple and pink lioness. He only hoped she was nice, "Stop what?"

Tandotti, while still suspicious of the grass, had tried to put the paranoia aside and focus instead on finding somewhere to nap - so she had been completely unprepared for the brightly coloured mane to poke up from the grass, revealing a male's face as well. A black and blue skull face, with red eyes.
"Ahhhh!" she shrieked, stumbling back in surprise. She tripped over her back paws and landed on the ground on her rump, squishing her tail painfully.
Her heart was racing a mile a minute and she could take comfort in the fact she certainly no longer felt like sleeping! Her eyes were wide as she stared at the figure only partially revealed in the grass. She knew there was something off about that grass! She knew it!
Why hadn't she trusted her instincts. Now this skull male was going to jump out and kill her! Her eyes were wide and slightly glossy as she stared at him, waiting for him to attack. She'd never see her daddy and papa again, she realised, unable to hold back a sniffle.

Amjad couldn't help but shriek in response to Tandotti's shrieking. Her response had startled him and he shrunk back down a bit, his black ears pinned to his head as the scared lioness looked up at him fear struck. Oh god, he scared her half to death hadn't he?
Stupid, stupid!
"Uhm. Uh... D-don't cry? Please don't cry," Amjad said, laughing nervously as her approached the lioness cautiously.
He unpinned his ears and tried to give her the best grin he could, but honestly he was nervous. He had startled her, and now she probably thought he was a jerk or trying to kill her or something equally untrustworthy. Man he was bad at all of this.
"I didn't mean to scare you...," He laughed again nervously.

Tandotti's heart continued to race, even after noting that he'd shrieked too. Perhaps that was his battle cry? Oh no, she was going to die! She squeezed her eyes shut, waiting for the blow to hit her but none did. Instead, she heard him telling her not to cry.
...Killers didn't say please, did they? She opened one eye to peer at him, taking note of his nervous laugh. His ears, which had been pressed against his skull, returned to a normal position and he smiled. It looked startling, underneath those skull markings, but not bad.
Certainly not evil, that was for sure. She relaxed a little and opened both eyes, her heart still thudding in her chest. She shifted and rose to her feet.
"Didn't mean to..." she mumbled, before huffing. "Then why did you jump out like that? I didn't even know you were there!" She paused, thinking of another question. "Where were you doing in the grass in the first place?" She had sounded grumpy at the start of questions, but by the end, she just sounded curious.
He didn't look like he was going to attack her, at least, so what had he been doing hiding.

"Well...," Amjad said, giving off his own huff as he tried to rummage for an explanation to his poor choice in behavior thus far, "What... What if you were mean? And instead of saying 'Hello' or anything like that you just decided to attack me? I gotta make sure I don't get hurt, you know! Or else my Mom will go nuts and I'll get scolded like I'm some silly Pesar."
Smooth, Amjad. So smooth.
Not only had he now made himself look like a fool and a Mommy's Boy, he had referenced terms from inside the pride in out of pride speech. The poor girl probably had absolutely no idea what he was talking about and there was no way now for him to go back and rectify what he had said without making it both confusing and pathetic.
"Uhm," Amjad stalled again, "I was just... To be honest, I don't know but tall grass seemed like a good idea at the time!"

Tandotti stared at him with a bemused expression. So...he had scared her and made her think he was a bad person and going to attack her, because he thought she might have been mean and going to attack him. 'Pesar' was an unfamiliar term to her, but she got the general idea - clearly being scolded like one by one's mother was a bad thing.
"So you scared me, because you were scared that I'd attack you?" She clarified, unable to stifle a laugh. Her posture relaxed further and she shot him a wide grin. "I promise I'm not dangerous - but you were probably wise to be cautious about strangers." She winced a little. She hadn't really gotten involved with too many strangers, but the male who had chased her out of her den the previous night had certainly been frightening!
"Scaring people isn't a good way of making a first impression though," she pointed out, in case he wasn't aware of that, and smiled lightly. "What are you called anyway, when you're not scaring people?"
