Aiolos reached the small lake behind a clump of bushes and trees. Since arriving to these strange lands, he hadn't seen another Putti for a while. He assumed most were still off celebrating their victory. The ones who were around for his father's reign, anyway. Those older mares and stallions knew what it had been like more than Aiolos and the other youngsters did.

Aiolos, on the other hand. He really didn't like all that noise and dancing. The singing. The constant merriment. It had been a while since they had all moved to these new lands, yet he still didn't feel ready to seek out others of his kind just yet. Or to see what new wonders this land held. Dealing with all those herds together...That had been enough for him for a while.

The lake was being fed by a small waterfall. A small river broke off almost exactly on the other side of the water fall, making sure the little body of water didn't overflow. The pale blue stallion made his quiet way over to the fall. The beads of his headdress clicked together as he bent his knees to lay down in the cool grass besides the water, tucking his front legs underneath him.

Aiolos dipped his muzzle into the water once for a cool drink, bringing it back up to grab a clump of grass besides the edge. Munching, he closed his eyes. Letting the silence drift over him like a silk blanket.

This land was still withholding its secrets from the white female and she was beginning to get tired of having to question everything. Since arriving, she had been kept on high alert watching both the safety of the other Minicorn but also the health of most of their larger group. So many had come to her after eating foreign items that Asiya was wondering if even the grass was safe.

Now that she had a moment to herself, Asiya felt her face finally relax. The smile she kept softly on her face and the whispering tone of her voice was starting to hurt. Of course she dared not to raise a harsh word to anyone. Most came looking for comfort and that was what she would give them.

Yet as she walked from the trees and into the opening, Asiya couldn’t help but wonder if the trip had been worth it. At least, that was what she had been thinking until a rather familiar shade of blue caught her attention.

Quickly plastering the serene look back on her face, as was custom, Asiya had to hide a internal groan by kicking a rock into the clear water.

“Oh! Aiolos. What a pleasant surprise.” Asiya whispered the lie with years of practice. No one would ever know she was as she walked towards the Putti leader. “I had thought everyone was celebrating.”

The Putti's ears shifted all around him, listening to the sounds of the strange forest. Even a waterfall in unfamiliar territory was enough to relax him about the possible dangers that may lay around him. Near the soothing sound, he found it difficult to concentrate fully on the sounds of twigs snapping. The flutter of wings. Something scurrying behind a bush. For his small size, he should be taking more care. He knew this. He just couldn't help it.

Predators was, of course, something he wasn't looking forward to encountering in these lands. Maybe it would be best to ask around of the locals and find out what was dangerous and what wasn't, first. That way he could avoid a situation before it even started.

Then, again. He was a Putti. They were known for their speed. Unless the Kawani lands had something similar to his kind, he should be able to outrun anything it sent at him...Right? They wouldn't be used to running down something like him before. He should stand a chance.

He did hope nothing was as large as he heard these Soquili were. Twice or more his own size. They must look funny with those long legs.

The soft patter of hooves coming towards him caught his attention and he turned his head towards it, the patch of grass he had been chewing long swallowed. Ears swiveling around, he waited the approach of whoever it was.

Aiolos nearly raised a non-existent eyebrow at the white mare who stood before him. The Minicorn leader. The hair going down past her shoulders was quite different from the rest of her species. The Putti had always wondered if it was a show of age among her breed. Or just something else.

"Pleasure is mine, milady," was her response, a small trace of a smile touching his own lips just for show. It was a force of habit, now. Putting on the show of fake politeness. Not that he was displeased with seeing her. More neutral to it. "I never cared much for the noise of it."

Oh if only Asiya could have heard his thoughts about her mane equaling her age. That angelic look and manner she always had would have suddenly changed. She was rather young to be the leader of the minicorn and that was yet something else the elder members questioned. Was she really mature enough to do this?

Still as she slowly crossed the soft grass towards the flowing water, Asiya was smiling in the flickering sunlight. Her horn reflected the light down onto the water so it twinkled even more. That was what had marked her as at one time an heir and now as leader. She was a healer and the best in her herd. No one dare questioned that fact.

“I understand.” Her voice was musical in the tone as she responded and bent to drink. The cool water was refreshing and a welcoming change. Yet it was the plant across from the river bank that had her attention. A purple flower in a mass of green?

“It is hard to adjust to the joy of others so quickly but…” She started to say as her horn seemed to shine even more. “They desive to celebrate. We made it through so much.” The purple flower was gone and now at her side. Dropping her head down, she looked it over and sniffed.

“What do you think? Ever seen it before?” Her eyes looked towards the Putti with a smile. Alone was nice but being around him meant quiet felt strange. She might as well ask for his imput than have a staring contest.

While Asiya drank, Aiolos took the time to look around once more, folding his ear wings back against his head. They lay over his thick mane, unable to nestle inside the warmth of the hair. They were far enough away the sounds of celebration couldn't be heard. Which was the purpose. He didn't mind if they wanted to celebrate. They did have a good reason to. He just didn't want to be expected to join in. The Putti wasn't used to so many around him. He needed a long break.

The stallion glanced at her when she spoke, again, catching the glow of her horn. One wing behind his ear stretched out, as if eager to conjure up a gust of wind and show off what it could do. But it settled back down against his mane. Putti couldn't even hover with such tiny wings. Most they could do was create gusts of wind. It was a handy trick on hot days.

"A long journey for ones so small," he added, referring of course to all Minis. He still didn't know how tall these so called Soquili would be. He suspected, by the rumors, the Minis would be about the size of a foal to them. That could be a helpful misconception, if any of them thought them actual foals. It might keep them out of trouble. "I'm surprised they aren't too tired. But they can celebrate if they want. They do have just cause. I just never had a liking for it."

And he was tired. Mentally and physically. That journey was worse than just leading one group of Putti. If he had to interact with a large number of equines, again, he feared he would lose his quiet leader cool. Even now, his voice was a little strained with his tiredness. Once Asiya left-or settled down near him-he was likely to fall asleep.

When the flower materialized near her, Aiolos didn't flinch. He remembered seeing it before laying down, but thought nothing of it. Now he looked at it with slight interest, checking for signs of anything suspicious. He saw nothing. Though one could never be too sure in a strange land. The grass, at any rate, was fine. He felt no ill effects from it, yet.

"Looks harmless. Hard to say with all these foreign plants and animals. Can your horn detect poison?" Minicorn powers were not his forte. He knew they could heal. Asiya had just demonstrated there was more to it than that.

Asiya gave a soft smile before her tongue rapped around the strange plant and she took it into her mouth. Not all of it, mind you, she wasn’t that stupid, but she had begun to learn that if she wasn’t willing to take it, how could she expect anyone else to?

Kneeling down next to the water, the young mare only closed her eyes as she took in what the plant was doing. It was firm, yet broke easily against her teeth. There was something soft in the flower’s petals that added a rather sweet taste atop her tongue.

Opening her eyes again, she gazed over at Aiolos as a breeze shook her mane back from her head. One quick swallow and she was innocently smiling. “Sadly, I cannot detect what is poison or what is helpful just by looking at it.” Her eyes were staring at his wings. She had always admired the speed of the putti. It was a trait her people could have used back in their native lands. Even with the celebration going on just beyond the woods, she had to wonder how many more would not make it past the gate.

Dropping her gaze with the sad thought, Asiya watched a small ripple form on the water’s surface. “We learn through testing and experience what is poison and what is not. I would assume it is much like you learn how to run with the wind? We taste, we get sick, we learn. But from what I can tell you about this little flower is that it doesn’t seem to have any poison. The smell is soft and the color is pale. A normal sign that the plant doesn’t hide anything. It also has a sweet taste.” Glancing down at the remains of the plant, she pushed them towards Aiolos with her nose. “Try some. You appear as if you could use a pick-me up.”

Aiolos stayed quiet as the Minicorn tested the plant. He admired her bravery for a moment. He did know the importance of taking matters into your own hands like that, but still admired her for doing it. If her horn couldn't detect anything wrong with the plant, it could indeed be poisonous. She could be sacrificing herself for the sake of everyone else. Not a bad sacrifice, no. It made him wonder if he would do that so readily. Back in their homelands, he didn't think so. He would have gotten someone else to taste it for him. Or, if not him, one of the advisers would have set it up themselves.

The Putti showed little emotion when it turned out the plant was safe. Whether he was worried or not, it would never be known. Nor if he was relieved or not. He had nothing against Asiya. If anything, it was more a matter of it wouldn't change his life either way what kind of plant she had tasted.

"And I am sorry I couldn't give much assistance with figuring that out," the blue stallion said without much emotion. As was the normal when he spoke. "I guess your healing abilities makes it easier for your race to test things yourself."

His blue eyes had moved back over to watch the waterfall cascading down the rocks. At further mention of the flower, he turned his gaze back slowly. It was a pretty color. And it was true about his needing a pick me up. He would be tired after that journey for a long while, yet. Figuring it couldn't hurt, he scooped up what remained of the flower into his mouth, chewing it slowly as he raised his head back to its usual state.

"Thank you," was all he would say in return to the conversation. A little tiredness had crept into his voice.

Honestly, Asiya had never really considered the fact that the reason her race could find the powerful herbs was because most of the poisons did not destroy their stomachs. Sure several left one sick for a few days but maybe she had never fully understood the power her people held for themselves. If this was true, his simple statement had become an eye opener that...well...might need to be tested. But another time.

Shaking out that dark mane in response, Asiya finally let her eyes glance up at the waterfall herself. "No apology necessary." Her body slowly began to get even closer to the ground as she moved to rest. "I just hope it helped you a bit."

Asiya could quickly hear this tone. The male was tired and she couldn't blame him. She felt it as well. For each one that came to the land healthy, two more needed attention. She was physically tired as well.

As the waterfall continued to fall and the clouds moved over head, Asiya felt her eyes flicker shut and a restful sleep come over her for the first time in awhile.
