The Battle In My Mind

It's just a dream...

I would tell myself.

It would never work.

They would find ways to make them seem real.

And I would truely believe,

It's not a dream.

I would finally wake up,

Back to the real world,

Finally glad to be able to say,

It was just a dream.

I was never strong, controlling my dreams.

My imagination takes over.

Even saying those four words,

I cannot in a dream.

The characters,

The world,

Everyone wants me to believe,

It's not a dream.

The horrible dreams we refer to as

Nightmares...

They haunt us all in one point or another.

Wishing they would just end,

But they won't.

Death was about to envelop me,

Though it didn't.

Because it was just a dream.

Though along with my mind,

I have grown stronger.

In my dreams,

If I were to be close to getting caught,

Or hurt,

I could get out of it.

I could pause my dream,

And leave the world,

My dream world.

I have always thought my dreams would never be under-control.

I was wrong.

They may have won the many battles,

But they will NOT win the war.

Because they're only dreams.
