Cael was wandering, he had used up most of his herbs helping out one soquili or another. So he was wandering, keeping an eye out for any herbs, he could decide when he found them if they were of use to him. His eyes going up to his antlers where his familiar was perched, the owl looking right back, having nothing to contribute at all. "You know if you were looking too we might have a chance." But the owl still just looked at him before flying off, it wasn't much of a talker. Though it did come back after a while only to vanish off again, though this time Cael followed it and found it on a tree branch by what looked like a garden.
Wandering in he looked around, wondering if this area belonged to anyone as he had started to spy some of the plants he needed. He really would have to start planting his own garden by his cave. Looking around, calling out. "Hello, does anyone live here?" He wasn't sure why but he didn't want to yell too loudly, it seemed like a place where such noise was out of place.
Freezing and gulping as he spies a mare asleep by some bushes, she had little wings and was vivid against the green. This must be the owner, but waking her rudely then asking for use of some of her herbs was even to him clearly against social rules. So he carefully stepped back, away from her, trying to make as quiet as exit as possible. However the twig he stepped on had other ideas as it snapped with a loud crack.

Tawingo lay napping under the high summer sun. The warmth of it's rays, absorbing into her dark coat. Nothing could be more peaceful and relaxing. These sun naps were only good for a short while, before she would move under shade. For right now, it served to relax her. The smell of life from the bushes around her, helped to lull her into a peaceful dream.
As she lay there dreaming, the sound of a voice broke her thoughts. She rolled her head against her ankle ever so slightly, not waking, as if it was part of her dream. Tawingo wasn't a deep sleeper, but the nap was blanketing her senses momentarily. It's that state between having just fallen asleep, and sunk into a dream. In her dream, she began to gaze around with perfect, ice blue eyes. Never did she suffer from sight loss, in this land.
Nerves jolted as she heard another sound, this time, definitely not in her dream. Her head snapped up, and her eyes popped open. She forgot to roll her eyes before opening them, but luckily, her eyes did not get damaged. She had not been asleep long enough for the eyes to suffer from waking. The delicate eye condition changed with the layer of cells and the amount of moisture in her eyes. If they got dry, the cells of her eyes stuck to her eye lids, and could be ripped upon opening her eyes. It's what effected her vision on a daily basis.
"Wh--Who's there?" she called out slightly shaken, but still ever so gingerly. Her eyes adjusted, but the day was bright, causing her to blink quite a bit against the light. It hurt to try and focus her eyes to see, but it was something she tolerated well. Nobody would notice the aggravating pain, but the blank whites of her eyes, were of no mistake.

Cael had frozen when the twig had snapped, wincing his eyes having gone to the sleeping mare. She had woken up, shame shot through him, but then so did fear as his familiar landed in his antlers again, his eyes shooting up and giving the bird a glare which it subsequently ignored. Looking back to the mare, his mouth going oddly dry as she called out, shifting a little closer so he didn't have to shout, a little puzzled that she hadn't seen him.
"I'm sorry, my name is Cael I was looking for herbs and stumbled over your lovely garden. I didn't mean to wake you." Guilt literally dripped from his voice, though other than that he sounded friendly, his voice having a warmth and gentleness to it, kind of like the sunrise. "I was just going to leave... I don't want to disturb you." He groaned inside his head, that sounded even worse, he might as well have said he was going to run at the sight of her... Well he kind of had but not because of how she looked. He was then struck by mortification as Hute picked that moment to say something.
The owl had been watching this all with some amusement, it was not often that he got to see his friend squirm so terribly, and while he didn't wish harm on his friend there part of him wanted to turn the screws a little. "He's not offending you my lady, he runs from all the beautiful mares." Looking down at the once again frozen Cael, his expression kind of smug, then evolving into amused as the pink stallion went an even darker pink.
Cael looked back to the mare, wishing the world would kind of swallow him up at that precise moment. "So... heh... Nice weather we have been having huh...." He was lost when it came to social cues and conversation. as it was he was frozen to the spot, part of him wondering how to go about killing his familiar, the other part praying for that hole, or a bolt of lightning, the poor mare, not only had her sleep been disturbed but now she had to deal with his babbling.

Her stance and mind eased as she heard a non threatening voice break across the warm air. At least it wasn't the occasional animal that liked to come and eat her garden. She didn't mind a light supper by some of the lands critters, but sometimes the vegetation and flowers took so long for her to repair.
Soft blue fetlocks whisked the grass below her, sensing and touching the ground, as she rose to her legs. They served as mild antennae at times, and she depended on them to help her feel her way. As she stood, she called back curiously: "Please, I welcome you here." She spoke directly to the first voice, as he attempted to offer up words of a hasty retreat.
Tawingo startled slightly at the sound of another voice. Her left ear twisted to the side, wondering if the second soquili had been standing there the whole time. Her ears must be going bad, for she had only heard the slight approach of the first voice after waking. The thought of her being beautiful was amusing to her senses. She knew what her parents looked like, but not the image of herself. It wasn't something she thought about.
As she was about to thank the compliment about her looks, her head tilted as the conversation broke to a new direction by the other visitor. His voice seemed to of changed, and she wondered if he had been in the heat too long. She wasn't accustomed to awkward niceties at all. "Umm...yes, it is as you say, the weather has been nice. Be careful in the heat though, as it can take its toll on any soquili."
She turned her head to the side, to a wise old tree that branched over the garden, shading a more delicate vegetation that would scorch in the direct sun. Her gaze seemed as if she was looking at nothing in particular. "We can move into the shade, if you need."

He glared at the owl that was still perched on his antlers, Cael was not one prone to violence or even glaring for that matter but he was so mortified that he was debating turning the bird into a pillow and some two leggers dinner. Looking over at the mare. "Oh! Don't worry about me miss, the sun never bothers me really, but if its a problem for you we can find some shade no problem." He still had a faint edge of nervousness to his voice, but his genuine niceness was starting to come out a little now. Looking around, not sure what it was she was looking at if anything. Hute's voice had seemed to startle her though, this got him wondering a little.
The owl was holding tight in the stallions antlers, and was pretty sure that said stallion would quite cheerfully shake him off if he wasn't such a nice male. And Hute knew he had been pushing it, but it was so funny to see the stallion struggle with social meetings, especially with other grown soquili. Besides he wouldn't get any better if he kept running away. Deciding to speak up again. "Introduce yourself air head." The owls tone teasingly obnoxious, the name calling more in reference to the pattern on the stallions pelt than any lack of intellect.
Cael gritted his teeth a little, he had forgotten the most basic thing, that was probably what the mare was waiting for. Here he was a grown stallion babbling like a fool, if he wouldn't blame her if she dismissed him as one either. "Right! Yes... Sorry!" Looking at the mare again taking a small step closer. "I'm sorry miss... My name is Caelius, but please call me Cael, its much easier to remember... The glib bird on my head is Hute... Feel free to ignore him.... I know my sanity hopes you will." Cringing again, he had probably said too much again, or totally the wrong thing, he could definitely feel Hute's eyes burning into the top of his head.
Shifting a little having been watching the mare this while time. "Ummm I really don't mean to be rude miss... But can you see ok?" While he couldn't be sure she didn't seem to be looking AT anything, though it could just be that she wasn't focusing on anything, but it was best to ask, especially if she wanted some shade, it would be polite then to offer to lead her to some shade. It would right? His expression a little tense as he tried to work out what was the proper thing to do, he usually got this wrong anyway. His habit was to follow his heart and do what he felt was right, and while it was often what was best for the individual it could get mixed reactions and not all of them good.

"I am fine at the moment, though the shade may offer a better place to stand and chat." Not that she couldn't find her way to the tree. She had this whole area mapped out step by step in her mind. Traversing from one side to the other could be done when needed. Only the way some of the stalks of plants grew, could get in her way. For now, she didn't want to move, and bump straight into the stallion.
Tawingo chuckled lightly, a faint sound as delicate as the flowers that bloomed in this field. "Cael is a proper name. I may have concern if your name was truly 'Air Head' as Hute called you." she smiled. It made more sense to her now, to know that it was a bird that she had the company of. She had been fighting to hear his movements, and imagined he was perched atop Cael. How did the bird perch so well? She didn't hear it struggle or flap its wing.
"It is a pleasure to meet you both. I, am Tawingo." she said with utmost politeness. "This is a real treat, to meet two strangers on this sunny afternoon. I don't get many guests here unannounced. It is as you say Cael, I am mostly blind." her flutter-bug wings shifted with a quick few flaps, then rested, as she looked in the direction of the two. Mentioning her lack of sight seemed to have no effect on her, and was spoken as a matter of fact. Tawingo didn't consider herself to be misfortuned.

Hute rolled his eyes, the stallion was truely hopeless, it was no wonder he had no mate. Then again he was also far too likeable... Then again perhaps the stallion would do better socialising without him sat on his head, besides he was hungry. "Well I'm going to go and find a mouse, call him on any social slips my lady, he will never learn and get over this skittishness about conversing if he doesn't converse with soquili his own age, I swear the twoleggers ruined him for his own kind!" Sounding exasperated Hute looked at Cael and smiled deviously. "It has been a delight My Lady Tawingo, till another time perhaps." With that he took off with a silent flap from his owl wings, the only sign he had gone being silence and the small gust of wind his wigns caused in both their faces.
Cael sighed, he was sure Hute had left with such a comment to spark conversation, though in truth Cael wanted to whack the bird for being rude about his mother, human or not she had raised and cared for him. "I am stood directly in front of you Miss Tawingo, if you like I can help you to some shade or I can follow you, whichever you prefer." Sounding embarrassed and a little pained after the birds exit. "Its a pleasure to meet you, its also a pleasure to be in your beautiful garden, though it is a little sad that you cannot see it, but you seem to have overcome your handicap extremely well..."
Wanting to groan and kick himself, what did he know? He barely knew the mare but he just got the impression that she could manage just fine on her own. Remaining still as he had told her where he was, leaving it for her to decide what she wanted to do. Staying quiet as he was sure that he would insert his hoof back into his mouth sooner rather than later.
