"AhhhCHOO."
Danny let out about the sixth sneeze in the past hour. Shivering, she was underneath all of the covers of her bed, an absolute mess. She had nothing but boxers and a bikini top on, because she was going through a sort of flu state of feeling cold, and then feeling unbelievably hot. G was busy running back and forth putting cold chunks of meat on her forehead. Danny didn't like the cold normally, but this case was different.
She sniffled a bit and then pet the little treat. He looked at her with utmost concern, not really sure what to do. He didn't really get that Danny was sick or what she needed, but he knew that she needed help. After all, minipets didn't exactly understand sicknesses that didn't apply to themselves. It squeaked a few times, and then bounded off to Danny's cupboard to replace the cold meat.
Danny smiled weakly and let out another sneeze. G really was trying hard for her.
Turning on her side, Danny couldn't help but feel absolutely miserable. Not only over the lovely disease she had picked up, but also her floresctival had sucked. She had promised herself she would study all week instead of going to the floresctival. After all, she had even sworn in a letter to Oersted. You didn't just go against that!
But no, she had decided to take one of those daring Danny risks and at least visit the campaign booths. She even restricted herself to just the campaign booths! She had done so well! Danny had never just restrained herself like this- it was a big commitment! She had been doing so well ... At Christof's booth she had behaved so well, and she even got a bunch of stuffed animals! She glanced over to the little set on her shelf. She had decided to put Riley and Christof together- they looked cute together! The little cthulu thing and the cannon cat were together- after all they were both minipets right? Andeon sat on a shelf above them all. Danny didn't really know who it was modeled after, so she set him apart. Of course, little did Danny know that that spot was actually the best for Andeon. She had debated putting Riley up there too, but somehow it just didn't seem like Riley fit with Andeon. Too much purple in one spot?
Danny let out another sigh. If only she didn't visit Riley's booth. She only broke one gun and it was like the whole school was after her. That was far less than the type of things she did at home. Back in her hometown, she had once burned an entire pottery booth at a small, traveling merchant's show. A gun? This was practically nothing.
Danny rolled over again, letting out another cascade of coughing. G brought her a cupcake, not really knowing how to make it better, and she smiled. Such innocence. He was only trying to help. Danny would reach out and kiss him if it didn't make her head so dizzy. Instead she just shook her head and croaked, "No thanks." He seemed to get the picture and rushed back to the kitchen.
The poor ghoul just couldn't get what some of the students had said to her. So she had broken a gun. It was just an accident right? Why was she supposed to feel crappy and horrible just because she broke something that she had clearly promised to replace? She had broken things thousands of times, and gotten them all replaced.
It wasn't so much the words that got her, but the stares. Everyone looked at her with such ...
Anger? No. Pity? No. It wasn't really an emotion she could easily put a word to, or write down, or even draw, but it kept coming back to her thoughts. A recurring movie in her mind that she couldn't push away. Every time she tried to think about something different, the looks just came back.
It was like she wasn't one of them. Their eyes just screamed, "what's wrong with you?" Danny let out another cascade of sneezes. It was really good that her room was fireproof, or this story could end incredibly awkwardly.
Sighing, Danny looked back at her stuffed animal mementos. She just didn't understand why she was in the wrong. Even Roch had looked at her with those eyes. Wasn't he her friend? Wasn't he supposed to back her up?
Why did she had to keep thinking about this?
Danny's eyes focused on the ceiling above her bed. It was littered with little notes she had left to remind herself to do things when she woke up. Feed G. Eat things. Don't forgot your scrapsack!
Danny forced her face into her pillow. Of course, lack of air made her start another round of hacking coughs. This sucked so hard. It was one thing to be hated by everyone. Okay, they definitely didn't hate her, but after thinking about it so long Danny certainly felt like the images in her head hated her.
This was absolutely too much for her little brain. Danny hadn't expected to come to this school and have to think about things. She never expected to have her morals tested by people who were just like her, in terms of age, if not mentality.
With one final sigh, Danny turned away from her little collection of stuffed animals. It was too bad, she had wanted to collect them all, but her anger had stormed her away from ever fulfilling that wish. Danny closed her eyes and stopped thinking about it. She just let sleep take over.
