The day was clear and warm. A perfect hunting day as Avani's mom would say since their was just enough wind to aid in scent detection but not enough to hinder her ears. For the young cub this was something akin to magic. It still surprised Avani when her mom could tell where they were just by scent or sound. Unlike Kanya, Avani could see the world around her, something she truly enjoyed even if most of her question about what things were her mom could not answer.
Because she liked to watch the world around her Avani climbed to the top of the rock pile her mother made their home in. As she stretched out and stared out across the savanna she started to sing a song Kanya taught her. Like her mom, Avani could sing but this song, while clear and pretty seemed to empty of feeling. Something was missing and even Avani knew it.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Way up high,
There's a land that I heard of
Once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow
Skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream
Really do come true.
The song trailed off unfinished as the young lepon sat in the late afternoon sun trying to figure out why her song didnt have the same feeling that her mom's did.
((think something like her voice for Avani))
