He'd been hesitating, waiting. Even despite the talk he had had with a fellow Hunter about the subject he just didn't feel ready to go down but as time passed it got more oppressive within Jude's mind that he needed to go to The Cove as he was briefed to do so in the first place. At least now he felt ready though it was because of the weight of time pressing upon his shoulders and somehow pushing his feet forward one step at a time.
Once he'd arrived and wandered into the chamber from the stairs he squinted a bit against as if it would help him see in the torch light and glowing runes of the wall. Jude felt like he heard something or rather a multitude of something but one voice in particular seemed to be beckoning him forward amongst the other voices. It was a soft voice, a lonely voice. Calling to him.
'Over heeere, yessssss here. You can sssee me? Yesss? I know you caaan, you're a sssmart boy. I can tell.'
Jude paused as his eyes zeroed in on a tablet with an hourglass shape upon it, an hourglass with odd spike-like protrusions at the top and bottom but he didn't quite move to take it.
'I know you sssee me, boy. I am too gloriousss for you perhapsss. Ssstill I choossse you.'
The young man frowned at the voice as he reached up toward the tablet that seemed to call to him in both voice and shape representation, whatever was behind that voice certainly seemed full of itself but he still reached and grasped the tablet slowly pulling it out of its place. Jude didn't recall what happened next mostly he blinked during the time he pulled out the tablet and the next moment in his hand he was grasping at a strange hourglass with spikes at its top and bottom. Gently he adjusted his hold to grasp at the rod-shaped sides for easier carrying.
'Yesss, hold Yom. Yom likesss to be held.' The voice uttered happily and reassuringly.
Jude's eyebrow quirked a bit at the voice, it sounded feminine and far too happy. His lips parted as he spoke out loud, "Yom is a creeper, sounds like," and got a long pausing silence as an answer it almost felt as if the weapon was pouting.
'Lady Yom Ama isss not creeper! Yom isss pretty, but you do not get to sssee!' She taunted haughtily, 'what doesss boy know? He is jussst a boy!'
He gave out a long heavy sigh, "I am not a boy," he corrected, "besides I have a name."
'Oh? Maybe girl with deep voice hmmn?' Yom taunted yet more, 'What isss pretty girl'sss name? Perhapsss you tell your Yom?' the voice asked with what almost sounded like a purr.
Giving a small growl as he clenched his teeth, his grip tightening a bit at the hourglass's support, "I am not a girl, I am a young man. My name is Jude Xavier Hargrave."
A scoffing, hissing laugh answered him, 'Hooohohoho! My Jude thinksss he is a man already, hmmm? We shall ssseee about thisss,' Yom said sounding all too amused. 'Why are you a man? becaussse you have three namesss? You humansss are ssstrange."
"I am not..." he paused and uttered a soft groan, his grip on the hourglass relaxing. Suddenly he felt weary as he turned to walk up the stairs to exit out of The Cove once more. He gave up. He simply gave up. At her laughter and question he simply shrugged, "When you get a certain age you are considered a man where I come from...It doesn't matter how many names you have."
Yom Ama gave another soft laugh and seemed even more amused, 'I shall make sure you are a man properly!' she cooed happily, 'Many trialsss my Jude must go through before he isss man in Yom'sss eyesss.'
"...Whatever. Let's go." Jude grumbled as he left the cove.
