Hrrrgh, late night at the office. As much as Zia wanted to go out and have fun this Friday, she didn't end up escaping the imposing office building of her brokerage firm until eleven at night. Looking up at the sky, she squinted just a little and tried to remember what it was like to be free in the middle of the day with proper sunshine. And then with one frustrated argh, realized she had a long night ahead of her getting ready for crap over the weekend.

It had become quite obvious she needed a hit of caffeine, if nothing else than for a pick me up.

She ended up spotting a little place she hadn't been to before on her way home called Just Add Coffee and instantly pulled in, surprised there was one open so late.

"Ah, lifesaver," She half whispered under her breath as she pushed the door open and confirmed that it was, in fact, open. "Can I get a venti double shot white mocha?" She said just as she made it to the register, already digging in her purse for her credit card.

Late nights were a common occurrence for the teenage boy standing behind the counter. What had surprised him was the amount of people who also seemed to enjoy late nights and late night coffee even more so. He shouldn't have been surprised since he had his own reasons for preferring late nights and could only assume they had their own reasons. He didn't care to ask many, if any, of the people that strolled in and out of coffee shop.

He had expected a rush around eight to ten, but he hadn't expected the little cafe to be populated steadily well into the night. Even now, as things were dying down there was still a trickle of people coming in an out, though most had either settled down with their drinks and whatever they brought with them or had met up with someone else already holding their drink.

So he took a minute to wipe down the counter tops while he had the time to. When the door jingled to signify a customer he glanced up to see the pretty woman approaching the counter. When she came to stand before it he stopped cleaning and straightened himself. "Hey," he said flashing her a sideways grin as she began to order. His fingers flew over the buttons as he rang her up, "Venti usually comes with three shots, would you prefer two instead?" He asked looking her over even as she began to dig for her card.

She was cute and it had been a while since he had really hit on anyone. "And don't worry about it, this one's on me. For the cute new customer," he told her raking a hand through his dual colored hair.

"Yeah, just two," Zia said, almost with a dejected sigh as if she was back on her obsessive dieting shtick and denying herself candy or something, but she didn't want to be too buzzed. She learned the hard way that getting all hopped up to survive late night work and ending up tired and wired until sunrise was almost as bad as just leaving everything until tomorrow.

When he said it was on him because she was a cute customer, she got that usual deer in the headlights look when Morgan tried to help her flirt and took a moment to mentally swear at herself for not being good at this at all. And it didn't help she just got off a long day at work and was feeling about as cute as a ragged librarian just short of horn rimmed glasses. Not that Zia was an expert at dressing provocatively when not borrowing clothes from someone who was, but she was still pretty sure pencil skirts and blouses didn't fit the bill.

"U-uh... thank you," She stammered after a minute and then instantly felt stupid. there was a paused she used to shake off the stupid and then, "I mean, ah, I can't let you do that," She said, producing the debit card between two fingers. Yeah, it was just a coffee, but she still felt like an a** standing there in her ridiculously expensive Christian Louboutins and actually taking free coffee.

Chase chuckled softly as Zia seemed to freeze, surprised by his casual flirting. He found it amusing that the young woman got so flustered over an easy compliment. Sure, she looked a little disheveled but most of the customers that filter in late a night usually were. Even so, she still managed too look fairly attractive, from Chase's point of view at least.

His smile faltered when she produced her debit card anyway and insisted on paying. Well this wasn't how it was supposed to go, he didn't care that she was in expensive clothing or accessories. He frowned slightly, his brow crinkling as he shook his head.

"No, really," he told her waving a hand like it was no big deal. He stopped, an idea forming in his head that he wasn't too sure would work. But he felt it was at least worth a try. If she said yes, well then it meant he still got it. Not that he ever thought he didn't have it, it had just been a while. "If you really feel like you owe," he paused giving her his most charming smile as he leaned forward slight. "Maybe you can just let me take you out sometime?"

Very forward yeah, but Chase had never been one to shy away. He was a little reckless, always diving head first without a second thought. More often than not he's simply go, 'hey why not' and do whatever he wanted.

Tired as she was, Zia got on the ball as quickly as she could. Yeah, she wasn't a good flirt, but she wasn't dense either.

"Aren't you a little young?" She said, one eyebrow quirking and hands on her hips. It was already out before she caught herself. Sometimes with over a century's worth of lifetime and memories it was hard to forget, physically, she was only turning twenty-three this year.

But still, Chase looked to be on the older spectrum of high schooler, or maybe a fresh graduate or young college student. Cute, a little scruffy, but still...

She rested on the counter, matching his lean. "And where would you take me out?" She asked, honestly a little curious.

But, really, she didn't have much interest in going out with anyone. Iouri was a gentleman and pretty much fulfilled the 'date' outings complete with polite banter. Chase with all his scruffy appeal really was not the sort of person she wanted to be seen with when normal people were awake.

"Or, you could just give me your phone number, what time you get off..." She said, feeling equally forward. "And my coffee," She added, resting her chin in her hand and swiping the card in the slot, hoping he wouldn't think to ask for ID, since, she had somehow ended up with her mother's card, probably her mother's wallet if that was the case, and really couldn't pass for the tall dark and tan Caroline Robinson.

At her question he shrugged, the answer depended entirely upon her definition of young. At the age of nineteen he was a legal adult and he couldn't say this was his first time hitting on an older woman, no definitely not his first. If he remembered correctly the last 'older' woman he flirted with had been Gently, who was 24 if he remembered correctly. Which, to him, wasn't old at all. Then again, the boy had never thought that age was an issue when it came to dating. Especially once he hit the legal age of eighteen.

"That would depend on your definition of young," he replied still grinning though he knew this was probably a lost cause. Oh well, at least he would be shot down by a pretty lady. "Well, that would depend," he answered carefully briefly reflecting back to his first date with Kaia. "On your favorite food, for dinner but you'd be surprised what I am capable of," he replied cocking a brow carefully. He tended to structure his dates on what he figured would be something his date would enjoy. For Kaia it had been ice skating after dinner, for the woman before him? He'd need to chat with her just a bit longer. "After dinner though, I'm sure I could surprise you with something, elegant. A moonlit stroll perhaps?" he joked playfully giving her a quick suggestive eyebrow.

He frowned as she went through and swiped her mother's card before shrugging his shoulders in defeat. "I can do that, it'll just be a minute before it's ready," he replied easily unbothered by the fact that she had won in paying for her coffee. Oh well, there would always be another time. At least he hoped.

He set to work actually fixing her drink and once it was ready he slid it over to her, a paper with his new number on it tucked carefully into the sleeve. "I'll be off at eleven tonight," he offered surprised that he was glad he would be leaving earlier than usual.
