Evelyn walked up and down the pavement in front of the mall, clipboard and papers in hand. she was not here to shop. She was collecting volunteers and donations for the local Summer Lunch program, a usual cause she was pushing during summer vacation, and one she enjoyed. People seemed to be more open to hungry kids (Or puppies, but that's irrelevant) than most other things that were pushing for donations.

Still, she was her usual self, trying to sell it and pushing people to agree. It wasn't 'Would you like to contribute?' it was 'What would you like to contribute?'. No was not an answer. And no, avoiding eye contact with her did not save patrons coming and going. If she caught you, your next five minutes were doomed unless you wanted to cough up the cash.

Of course she tried not to seem as threatening as that made her sound as she came up behind her targets with a gentle shoulder tap and a warm smile, explaining the situation in the hopes of drumming up some sympathy.

Yvette was pretty certain that loitering wasn't allowed. However, she wasn't exactly in the best of conditions to judge such things. The girl had stayed home from work for two days, and in all honesty, she wasn't feeling any better. She wasn't the most convincing actress, but the girl had somehow managed to convince Mommy that she got more rest.

Yvette was a fibber and she knew it. A fibby fibber of fibbish fibs!

She hadn't made it to work yet though. She had made it to the mall, to the entrance to the shopping center, when she spotted a girl with cute dark hair. She had papers at hand. Definitely the sign of a loiterer.

And at the moment, she managed to see a pair of eyes that had locked onto her own. The loiterer now had seen Yvette. In an effort to avoid the inevitable, the girl's own purple eyes darted to the ground quickly and she attempted to shuffle off.

Evie was no ordinary loiterer. She was a loiterer on a mission, and one who had no qualms about giving your shoulder a firm tap just because you avoided eye contact, and subsequently blocking your way, too. This was important, dammit.

"Excuse me!" She said with a warmhearted smile that she hoped at least mellowed out her aggressive pursuit. Without wasting time, a brochure was shoved into Yvette's hands, only instead of being for something like a relaxing vacation, there were sad little pictures engineered to tug at your heartstrings and words that made you feel guilty for enjoying your lunch.

"I was wondering if you'd be willing to pledge a donation to Destiny City's Summer Lunch program! Every dollar helps, you know. I mean, these kids really don't get that much with school being out and all and..." She just quickly rambled off statistics and various cliches trying to drum up sympathy and interest, trying to leave little to no room for interjection without interruption. It was a simple tactic; Lay it on thick, mercilessly, and only shut up for the money.

At least she had good intentions?

The moment the girl had been caught by the shoulder, her feet ceased in movement. Many people would have continued past, waving a hand and saying "No thank you" or even just flat out ignoring the girl. However, that would clearly require some sort of spine, and Yvette, of all people, tended to lack one of those. No sooner than her legs stopped, the poor girl now had a brochure stuffed into her hands.

Her eyes were still trying to avoid the current speaker, but it was really REALLY hard to block out the words. In fact, it was pretty impossible when the girl kept going on and on like some sort of announcer on the radio. Her eyes for a moment looked at the cover of the brochure, but the picture there made her divert her eyes to looking at something else. It wasn't like Yvette didn't already suffer from an overly guilty conscious. It probably had something to do with the fact she thought too much.

Or the fact she had just lied like a lying liar about feeling better.

Even though her voice was a bit difficult to hear, she managed to say something which was probably only going to cause this girl to pounce her even harder about the current subject. "...I don't think I can afford it..."

Evie had to stop her ongoing ramble when the other girl said something. Only then was there a pause so she could frown and try to figure out what she'd said.

"Excuse me?" She asked, tilting her head a little closer to Yvette. "I didn't catch that..."

Still, she straightened up and tapped her clipboard, staring the other girl down with an unhappy expression. "Come on. You're going into the mall and you're seriously trying to tell me that you don't even have a dollar to give? Spare change?"

She shifted tactics. She was no longer your friendly, informative do-gooder. She was disappointed, staring, or rather glaring, with a hand on her hip and a clipboard in the other, Looking like she was half a second away from a 'tsk' and saddened shake of the head.

Yvette was definitely wearing black shoes today. Yup. Just like she always would whenever she went to work. How could she tell right now? It probably had something to do with the fact she couldn't even look at this girl right now. However, the intensity of the glaring did not go unnoticed.

Her shoe swiveled slightly in a nervous manner, an outward show of how this solicitor was bothering her. She wanted to just shout out how she worked in the mall, but the words didn't seem to want to cooperate with her very well. Instead of a strong voice telling the girl to step off, the most apologetic meek voice escaped the little girl.

"I... I just.... I'm s-s-sorry, but... I need to get to w-work..." She awkwardly began to shuffled forward, but unfortunately, she didn't get very far. It was as if her entire body had just shut down. Her consciousness completely escaped her for the moment and her body no longer wanted to remain upright as it suddenly lurched forward as it began to fall.

Evelyn let out a sigh and stepped aside, citing Yvette as a lost cause and focusing on her clipboard and papers while keeping an eye out for another victim.

She was blowing off the other girl's 'sorry's, not interested in the least, but when an awkward movement caught the corner of her eye, she turned just in time to see her collapse.

At first she was too dumbstruck to make a sound, and when she did all that came out at first was a yelp. After that initial shock, though, she dropped her clipboard, brochures and papers and rushed to try and lift her up, and then panicked and thought maybe she shouldn't try that and nearly dropped her head on the pavement.

"U-uh... Help! somebody call an ambulance!"

Evie was in full on terrified panic mode, had to stop herself from hyperventilating before she fainted too.

It seemed as if the girl had at least not landed straight on her face, which could have resulted in a broken nose. She had landed a bit awkwardly against her hand, and her cheek seemed to have a small smear of red under it, hinting that her cheek probably had a scrape now.

It was this hint of an injury upon her face that was causing a faint stinging sensation which made it hard for Yvette to remain unconscious. With what almost could have been described as a quiet sleepy groan, the girl moved her body slightly, as if to remedy the problem with where her hand had ended up in the mess. The hand was moved, but a surge of pain seemed to touch the appendage, causing the girl to hiss slightly under her breath.

"I... I'm s-sorry about that..." she managed to squeak out as she attempted to get herself upright again. The scrape upon her cheek wasn't a deep one, but it definitely wasn't attractive. Foolishly, she attempted using the hand which had caused her a bit of pain to get up, but when that proved too sore, she switched hands and began to try and wobble back up to her feet.

"I... I should get to work..."

"Whoa, no, I think you need to get checked out," Evie grimaced, gently grabbing her arm in an attempt to steady Yvette. A few people had stopped to spectate but so far they all seemed to ignore her random shout for someone to call an ambulance so she just glared at a select few as she tried to maneuver her cellphone out of her pocket with one hand.

She wasn't well versed in what you do in emergencies like this, but she was sure that an ambulance was one of those things you call when someone loses consciousness and hits the pavement, right?

"Are you lightheaded? Dizzy? do you know where you are?" She sputtered off, trying to remember similar instances she'd seen on TV. People didn't usually faint in front of her! She was new at this.

Yvette shook her head. "I... I don't have time for that..." If she got checked out, then she'd easily be late for work. Despite the fact she didn't want to linger too long, she was doing just that as she remained in this stranger's hold. She could have tried to escape by tugging, but that would have been a vain effort at best. Yvette was small and this girl was clearly much taller and probably much stronger.

Once she had her phone out and was trying to assess the situation, the shy girl's lips almost seemed stuck in permanent pout. "Oh nonononono... I'm okay... really... I'm... I'm at the mall... I need to get to work... I already missed too many days of work... I can't miss anymore..."

It was then that fate decided to be mean to the girl again, causing her to seemingly wobble and dip down again out of fatigue. At least this time she had someone there to hold her up.

Evelyn paused and frowned at Yvette's resistance. She certainly was not going to be responsible if she went and hemorrhaged into her brain! Or whatever happens when people faint.

And to make Evie even LESS confident in Yvette's choices, she went and nearly fell over again, making Evie make sure she tightened her grip to keep them both from toppling over.

"Okay, then... Well how 'bout we compromise? I'm sure we can get some kind of help inside," She said as she tried to gently tug her towards the entrance, figuring that a nurse or something could determine if they needed to call an ambulance.
PostPosted: Sun Dec 11, 2011 3:05 pm

At least this time she didn't land on the ground. Yvette seemed to almost dangle there like a rag doll, but eventually managed to pull herself up a bit so she was standing on her own two feet.

The compromised was good, but it still wasn't the sort of compromise that she was looking for. In her very tired brain, she tried to come up with some way, any way to fix this compromise so she still went to work. "Um... if you c-could help me maybe get to work... I can at least check in with my b-b-boss?" Her eyes were currently focused on the ground, almost as if looking at the ground would prevent her from falling on the ground.

Evie wasn't a fan of that, especially after the whole 'ragdoll' ordeal, she was unconvinced that there wasn't something seriously, medically wrong with this chick.

"Okay, proposal number two, we could go inside and get medical assistance and have them radio you boss or something? Or, I could go explain the situation?" That sounded like a hassle, but she'd rather have a safe hassle with all the precautionary measures than an easy unpleasant situation.

"Um, just tell me where you work," She added, mostly just to prod her into accepting the offer. The longer they debated this the more uncomfortable Evie felt.

Proposal two seemed to sell better than the original proposal. The girl didn't look very convinced still, but not having the will power to keep refusing, she gave in.

"...k-kay..." was her simple answer.

Once the stranger was prodding her for more information, she offered it as best as she could. "I w-work at Elizabeth's Secrets... a-and... m-my boss is Mrs. Ortiga. Uumm... when you tell her... let her know it's Yvette Weaver..." The girl was absolutely ashamed, and it definitely seemed to linger in the tone of her voice as she mentioned her name.

"Oh, uh... okay," Evie really didn't get the shame bit, but the fact that they'd finally agreed on something was enough to make her think in the positive.

It took a minute to figure out where to go, but true to her word, she dropped Yvette off at the offices for assistance and skipped her way to Elizabeth's Secret to seek out Mrs. Ortiga.

That was when she finally found herself able to speculate on why Yvette might've been ashamed, because it was only then did it register that it was Elizabeth's Secret and all the frilly things they sold.

So after the ordeal of delivering the message, she pondered going back to check on how she was, but in the end decided to flee. Yvette Weaver, Underwear Girl, had definitely earned her sympathy for that fainting problem, but it was problem she was happy to distance herself from as soon as her civic duty was complete.
