Huffing hard, Sumai’s feet pounded against the ground as he forced his body forward. They were catching up to him. He needed to hurry up if he didn’t want them to catch him.
Waking up this morning, he had not bothered to take the time to actually pay attention to the tree that he had sleep in the previous night. The sun always made him so tired, so he never really looked. He supposed now that it would make sense to check for any inhabitants.
He would have been fine, however, he had rolled off of the branch that he had been perched on in his sleep and fell onto the one below it.
As fast as he ran, he was, unfortunately not fast enough. Jerking his body, he leapt up in the air as an angry wasp planted it stinger right into Sumai’s nose. Seemingly satisfied, it and the rest of the wasps buzzed past him, turned, and headed back to their fallen nest.

Utkarsh wasn't really paying attention. His eyes half shut, yet something disrupted his peace. He could hear foot steps. fast ones. Ones that only a cheetah could make. His eyes slowly opened as he watched a cheetah in the distance running towards him. Of course, at first he didn't notice the cheetah. He was brown after all. Though a darker brown then the Savannah grass could ever offer.
He sighed and continued to watch. Perhaps he could go without running into another. Though, it was another cheetah. Perhaps he needed to make one exception. He had lived with lions when he was a cub, then out cased when his lion mother joined a pride that didn't allow anything but lions. He grown to hate most lions. Though, he was in general pretty hateful. At least until he got to trust another.
He had no friends, no family except the ones from his past. Two cheetah siblings, and a few lion ones that he'd never see again. Not like they mattered anyways. Like his siblings, he was ran out of the all leopard pride when he was old enough. He yawned as he stood up from his sleeping spot. He stretched and continued to watch the other cheetah coming closer. Now he could see it was a male.

In his complete misery, Sumai attempted to scratch at his nose where the wasp had viciously attacked him. Those things may look like ants with wings, but they sure packed a punch. He decided that he would have to remember to look before he slept in any tree next time.
Giving up on his nose for the time being, he looked to see where he had ran off to. It didn’t really matter as he had no home and tended to wander, but he still liked to know where he was. As he scanned the horizon, he noticed someone in the grass. It was a cheetah.
Forgetting all about his itchy nose, he stood in excitement at the presence of another cheetah. He hadn’t seen another one in a few weeks, and he greatly preferred their company. Considering approaching, he wondered if he was friendly and would even want to speak with him.
Well, he supposed that he wouldn’t find out standing here staring at him. Decision made, he trotted over to the other male.
“Hey there! Name’s Sumai, what’s yours?”

Utkarsh figured he'd regret letting the male see him. It was too late for that now. He grunted as the male spotted him and started towards him. He could have just kept his head down and been unnoticed, or at least unnoticed for a bit longer. It was kinda hard trying to hide when you didn't match anything around you. He yawned as the male got close enough to speak.
Utkarsh noticed something wrong with the male's nose, though he couldn't point at what. He took his attention off of it and eye the other's eyes as he spoke. Great, just what he needed a cheerful male. At least he didn't have to fight with someone today. Though, it almost seemed better then sitting around and talking about happy stuff.
He frowned as the other asked him his name. It had been forever since he actually spoke it. He had been good at avoiding other's for so long, he almost forgot what it was. Of course, he did end up talking to himself at times, which required him to speak it sometimes. He spoke no words of greeting, just his name. "Utkarsh." He said with a bit of a snap, though perhaps unnoticeable to the other.

Curious about this new cheetah, Sumai proceeded to investigate him. His fur had very interesting patterns in it that he had never seen before.
Man, but this guy seemed a little uptight, Sumai thought.......Utkarsh was what he said? Was he having a bad day or something? Deciding to find out more about him, Sumai pressed forward.
“So what are you doing out here? Do you live around here?” He paused for a moment and looked around thinking. “Wherever here is I guess. I just kinda got chased over. Heh.”
Sumai hated bugs, and definitely did not enjoy being chased by them. Apparently, he had ran pretty far away from their nest and the tree that he had woken up in.
Disregarding the matter for now, he returned his focus to the other male before him. He wondered where Utkarsh was from and what he was doing laying around out here by himself.

Utkarsh wasn't sure he liked being asked a ton of questions. Personal questions, at that. He frowned a little, but decided to humor the other for a moment. It wouldn't hurt, right? He waited for the other to stop talking before he started to answer. He sure did have a mouth on him, didn't he? What did he say his name was? Utkarsh had forgotten, but would figure it out later if he needed it. "I was sleeping." He said with a shrug. "And no, I don't live here."
Not really caring what exactly chased him over here, Utkarsh didn't ask about it. He hadn't seen anyone other then the cheetah. Perhaps it wasn't something so threatening after all. Of course, he figured the other cheetah was a bit of a coward. He struck no interest in finding out at the moment. "You sure do like to talk." He noted out loud.
He wondered if those who talked a ton ever noticed the beauty of silence? There was musical tunes that the world around them made that you couldn't hear unless you shut your trap once in a while. Of course, Utkarsh wasn't going to say that. At least not yet. For now, this little conversation wasn't too horrible, wasn't pleasant though.

Having gotten a response from the other male, Sumai’s excitement rose a bit as he discovered that the other was willing to speak to him. There had definitely been previous times where his overly friendly enthusiasm had gotten him into less that pleasant situations.
Thus, Sumai decided that this guy couldn’t be too bad, and then he proceeded to flop down onto ground near him. Grinning, he replied at the comment, “What’s the use off having a voice if you don’t use it?” Sumai had known complete silence, and had never wanted to live it again.
So he talked.
“I don’t usually come this way, but there was a whole mess of lions at the path that I usually go. I guess there was something going on there. I dunno,” Sumai shrugged absent-mindedly. While wandering, Sumai tended to move in big circles. These typically ended up in him taking similar pathways as he traveled.

He shrugged. He supposed the other was right. Though sometimes he wished that certain creatures didn't have voices. Like how he was going to see the end of this meeting. Especially now that the male was making himself right at home here. What did he do? He felt a rather troublesome feeling wash over him. He ignored it for now. After all, no body got hurt over harmless chatting, right?
"You're afraid of lions?" He asked with a raise of a brow. Utkarsh hadn't been, not ever. Then again, he had grown up with lions, and a pride of them. He just didn't understand how anyone could be afraid of them. They weren't that bad. Plus, he remembered that most of them weren't that strong either. At least, that's how he saw them. Not that he ever got into a fight with one before. Not that he would either. He may think they were weak, but he'd never fight one unless he had to. He'd never admit that to anyone.
"Lions are nothing. to be afraid of." He said with a shrug.

Sumai looked up at the question, slightly caught off guard. He laughed it off however, “You could say that.” He had never actually admitted having a fear of lions. He never had a reason to. Along with the fact that some seemed to enjoy taking advantage of the weaknesses and insecurities of others. It was a good enough reason for him.
Looking into Utkarsh’s golden eyes, he wondered about the cheetah’s experiences with lions for him to say that. Had he grown up around them? He looked off in wonder.
Looking up into the sky he noticed that the sun had moved more toward the center of the sky. It was nearly noon, and Sumai preferred to travel during the day time. Fortunately for his companion he would have to go soon. Unless..., Sumai began to think.
“So, what are you gonna do for the rest of the day?” Sumai asked lightly.

"All you have to do is make sure you don't look like you're afraid." He here he was giving advice to others. Not his strong point. Hell, he'd never done this before. Normally he just pushed others away. "If you look strong, and confident, most won't bother you." He shrugged. It was the easiest way to deal with lions. Most were kind anyways, unless males. Then there might be some problem. But, that's why cheetahs could run fast, right?
He blinked at the other when he asked. "I.... Nothing?" He wasn't sure what to say to that. He hadn't expect that type of question. Why would anyone want to know what he was doing? He raised a brow and looked at the other. Curiosity struck him. "Why?"

Sumai looked at Utkarsh thoughtfully. He supposed that the other was right, but Sumai’s phobia held strong and stuck in him like a porcupine quill. Strength and confidence had never helped him before, or his family for that matter, but maybe he would try it one day.
Sami probably would have had better use of the words than Sumai. She was much more confident and brave than he ever was. They weren’t exactly his strong points.
Looking away from Utkarsh, he directed his gaze into the horizon where he could practically see the heat moving across the lands. He always enjoyed looking at it, it reminded him of his family. He remembered his mother telling him a story about how the horizon split the Earth in two, between the sky and the earth itself.
Thinking about what he wanted to ask, he turned his attention back to the other cheetah. “Oh, great! I think I need to start movin’,” he said enthusiastically. Standing up and ready to venture on, he looked Utkarsh directly in the eye.
“Do you want to come with me?”

Puzzled at the other for a moment. He wanted him to join him? Well, that was a bit odd. Though, he supposed it couldn't hurt. He looked slowly around the area before looking back at the other cheetah. He never liked this place anyways. Perhaps the other could show him something worth wild. If all else failed, he could always go on his way when the other was sleeping. He was good at sneaking away.
He shrugged and looked at the other. Not letting words flow out his mouth just yet. He still hadn't truly decided, but he supposed he should hurry up in doing so. He wasn't the best at coming up with fast replies. "I suppose it couldn't hurt." He spoke with a dull voice. He could at least keep the other out of trouble, or at least that's what he had figured. Perhaps even help him walk by some lions and show him how it's done.
