The blue haired mare was busy sitting by her favorite spot in the whole world. It was a small lake that was a clear blue color. It made her feel at peace, but more then that it was the spot she came to when she needed to think. The spot she came to when she needed to clear her mind and her heart. She was still troubled. She probably would always be troubled and didn’t see herself getting better for a long long time. She had been thinking about her home since it happened. Her home in the arctic that might help her get by this new phase in her life. A pain that never seemed to go away and a pain that just kept growing and getting worse.
Sighing lightly, she looked around feeling her heart sink more and more with each breath she took. Was there something wrong with her? Was their a flaw that overpowered the rest of her? Was she not pretty enough? Did she drive the stallions away from her? She felt terrible and more then that she felt like every single break up was her fault. She had been in a depression since the first love she had went away. After that…she hadn’t been able to redeem herself and get out of the funk. This was a problem for her. Now she was seeing the world in shades of gray. Black and white. Not happiness and only tragedy.
She hadn’t talked in a few days and the more it passed the more she didn’t want to talk. What did talking prove anyway? It only made you feel worse when you came to realize what happened. She realized everything that happened. Her mate left her and this was the second time that had happened. She wasn’t even sure it was worth pursuing a third mate. All she wanted was children of her own with the stallion she loved, but it was turning out to be a nightmare. One that she couldn’t handle another time through and one that she didn’t want.
Eyeing the water peacefully, she flicked her tail remembering what good times she had.

Gray hooves carried a dark mare through thick woods towards no real destination. She moved for the simple sake of moving. To stay still simply hurt too much. To stay still meant to be trapped with her thoughts. On good days, she could keep the thoughts that plagued her mind at bay. And lately, she had been having more good days.
But today was not a good day.
During the morning hours, when the sun's rays were just beginning to creep across the land, she'd glimpsed the thing that caused the destruction of her day. A stallion standing over a slumbering mare in a protective manner. She'd watched him as he gazed at the sleeping mare with such open fondness. And when he leaned to gently nuzzle at the mare, Deirdre found that could no longer take the sight and left.
Why couldn't a stallion stare at her like that? Where were her gentle nuzzlings and sense of security?
A shimmering up ahead caught her attention. It looked like... water? Just where was she? She looked around herself to find that the trees had thinned and quaint little lake rested up ahead. And it seemed that she was no longer alone.

The cream colored mare looked over when she heard rustling. It was another mare. A mare that didn’t seem to look very happy and even though it wasn’t her business, she wasn’t happy herself really. She didn’t know if she would ever be happy again and if she was going to open her heart to another stallion. Why should she when it would just be ripped out and trampled on once more? She couldn’t go through it a third time. She wanted a family of her own, but she didn’t know how that would be possible. She knew someone who needed a surrogate, but that would take a breeding away that could go to a future mate.
What could she do?
Wait?
There wasn’t such thing as a good stallion.
“Hello..”
She said to the other mare in the distance as her blue mane fell over her eyes once more. She was always hiding her face from others. That is how it would always be now.
