Zyanya gently laid herself in the sand of the beach she had combed for several miles. The sand was warm, almost burning to someone so used to temperatures below freezing. Summer was so new to this lost noodle. She cast her gaze to the ocean, the familiar sight casting a sort of ache in her. It reminded her of home. The only difference was the ocean was cold there. Here, the waters were warm, as if dropped and smothered in fur blankets rather than water. She turned her head back to the sands, picking up a few shells and opening them, curious, for such things never appeared in her homeland. A shimmer appeared in the tide, and quickly caught Zyanya's curious eyes. The waters don't shine like that. Silently, the all too serious noodle trotted to the shimmer, picking up an open clam, of which inside laid a shiny cream pearl, that cast a shine that could be noticed far in the waves.

Dustin was laying face up on his board, soaking up sun as he drifted around. The waves weren't anything to scream about today, so there wasn't much else to do other than just enjoy the weather. The sky was clear and blue, and he would have stared at it forever, had his moment of peace not been interrupted by the fact that he washed up on shore.

Zyanya lifted her head as she heard a wave crash down afar from her spot, with a louder thud than she could remember the others which froshed against the wet sand. She slid the clam between the bracelets around her paws and took a run toward the sound, blinking at the noodle that was sprawled in the sand with.. some sort of underwear and glasses on. She approached him carefully, silent, and looking down at the male, blinking, particularly at his board. Another noodle had shown her one of those before, but she never had the chance to utilize it. Curiously and slightly concerned, the shining blue noodle stood above the male and nudged his head with her nose. She never spoke until spoken to, so the light contact was enough to convey her worry.

Dustin, being a bit on the slower side, took a couple moments to register that he was no longer out on the water and that an unfamiliar noodle was prodding at him with her nose.
"....Hmmm?" He rolled over to right himself and collected his board, hugging it close to him so as not to lose it. "....Uh. Hi?" Never had a noodle sounded more unsure of himself. Staring at the sky like a derp and getting caught was kind of embarrassing. Not as getting caught with your shorts down, but embarrassing none the less.

Zyanya looked at him curiously as he righted himself, tilting her head lightly. He seemed okay for the most part, just a little out of it, perhaps dense. "Hello." She said quietly, though her voice was strong, and confident despite its low volume. "Are you alright?" She asked, the mild concern she had for the male making her normally quiet and less inquisitive nature get pushed away in favor of ensuring the safety of others around her. He strangely seemed quiet embarrassed by her presence, but lord knows what had happened to bring this noodle to shore. Being careful was better than leaving him in harms way.

"...Yeah." He didn't quite like that analytical look she was giving him. It made him even more uncomfortable. "Why, do I look hurt?" He was suddenly alarmed, afraid that he'd broken something without noticing.

Zyanya blinked lightly in surprise as the male seemed shocked at her concern, uncomfortable. She shook her head and murmured quietly. "I was worried you hurt yourself. You washed to shore and I couldn't tell." She looked at his board lightly, with curiosity. "I've seen one of these before.. but I didn't know how dangerous they were, so I wanted to make sure you were okay." She explained, bowing her head to him lightly.

Dustin slowly uncurled himself from around his board and set it in the sand. He was fine, so there was no need to keep being so awkward. "Oh... Well yeah, I'm okay." He gave her a weak smile, still embarrassed by his own foolishness. "This?" He prodded the board. "It's a surf board. You use 'em to ride waves around. There aren't many today, though..." He looked longingly at the sea, wishing there were waves that were decent. "They're not really dangerous. I mean unless you're in shark water, 'cause then they can mistake you for a seal. Or if you're just bad at surfing and take on a wave that's too big for you."

Zyanya nodded quietly as he told her he was okay, though the weak looking smile made her worry. She tilted her head, and then shook it lightly, hoping not to overthink things. She listened closely as he explained the familiar looking board, and what its uses were. "Shark water?" She murmured, blinking her ocean blue eyes in curiosity. Sharks very rarely frequented the cold waters of her homeland, but she had seen their predatory fins on the rare occasions. "Have you ever seen a shark?" She asked, her curiosity once more getting better of her normally reclusive nature. She looked at the board and seemed to want to touch it, but held back her interest. "A wave that's too large? How big are the ones that should be ridden on?"

Dustin nodded, having loosened up considerably now that they were on a different topic. "Yeah, I've seen a few. Not like, right up close, but they're been a few in the water with me before. They're pretty chill if they don't mistake you for a seal." For the first time since they'd met, Dustin took a moment to look over the girl he was talking to. She was pretty with all her blues. To most, she would appear wintery, but all Dustin saw was the ocean. And he loved the ocean.

Zyanya noticed that Dustin loosened up as topic changed, moving her hair as she nodded and looked out toward the ocean again, the sun giving her a shimmer against her blue tints. "I suppose on a board shaped such as that it might be risky.." She observed, looking at the shape and watching it curiously. "You are brave to surf in the waters." Zyanya looked up at him, her ocean blue eyes also shimmering in the sunlight, the color of the sea strong within them, as the color of winter was in her hair and fur. "How often do you surf?"

Dustin laughed. Brave? Hardly. He didn't like to admit it, but he was kind of a wuss. Not so much on the water, but pretty much with everything else. "I surf every day that I can! It's like, my whole life, being on a board." He smiled. "So, what brings you to the shore?"

Zyanya blinked as he seemed to laugh at her acknowledgement of his bravery. To her, the waves were dangerous, and needed to be conquered, and Dustin was someone who could do that. Her mind believed that to be bravery. She listened closely and nodded lightly as he gave his answers. "Just as I have spent mine on the ice." She concluded, before blinking at the inquiry. Why did she come? "I suppose curiosity.. The ocean is different here than from my home. The water can be warm. There is sand, rather than ice.. I came to experience the sea here myself." She explained, looking to Dustin.

Dustin never liked the snow or the cold. He always found it kinda depressing. "Ice? Where you from, like....the Arctic or something?" He couldn't imagine never being in warm water or always being surrounded by ice. Even back in Jersey the water was bearably warm in the summer.

Zyanya blinked lightly at the question, and nodded softly. "Ice. Yes." She turned her body north, and nodded her nose in that direction. "I come from that direction, of the north. Where it is always winter, and ice and snow transcend the distance of sight." She told, and perhaps that was the reason for her stiff stance. "Much of this land is new to me.. Warmth, heat, and the kindness." She murmured, looking to Dustin. The northern lands of her former home often turned the creatures there brutal as the blizzards that plagued the land each day. Even nature turned against them. Was it only natural Zyanya knew of little kindness from others, even as she led her own tribe long ago? Survival of the fittest, it was the only way to live where she grew up.

"That.... Sounds pretty awful to be honest." Dustin scrunched up his face, remembering the bitter winters of his childhood. "...Kindness?" He wasn't quite following. Why would kindness be something foreign? "Is that really something that you've never come across?"

"Perhaps it was.." Zyanya murmured, reminiscing on her brutal past, her childhood spent beneath snowflakes and hail. She turned to him as he asked of kindness, asked of her encounters with it. How much kindness could someone taught only of how to survive know? "Before the warm lands.. it was rare." She told, remembering, the wind bringing back images of her father, dead in a storm, and a mother who lost the will to live. A daughter colored blue as the winters, with eyes deep as the ocean and sharing the same color of the sea, left alone to urge a dead will to move forward. "In the north, there is little to be kind about.. The weather is not kind to us, food is scarce, and each day is a challenge. The ties of family are normally weak. A son will abandon a father who cannot move with his tribe, a mother can throw away her child who does nothing but eat and cry and waste away her energy. We could not live without each other, however there was little hesitation each time to throw away someone who became 'useless'." She shut her eyes, her memories haunting her. "I once led a tribe of my own.. I saw many acts that this land would call greed, or brutality.. In our world it was known as survival." She looked to Dustin, a form of regret in her eyes. "It is in your world that everyone knows kindness.. Mine still needs to learn. I can only hope I learn more as well.."
