User ImageDeimos yawned widely and sat up, blinking in an owlish fashion. For once it looked like he got through a nap with no interruptions. The Daeva stretched all six limbs, one at a time, flicked his bushy tail and tilted his head back and forth to work out any kinks.

Satisified that he wasn't stiff anywhere, Dei leap out of the tree he'd been sleeping in and glided down to the forest floor. He wasn't sure what he was in the mood for. Hunting or gathering, maybe, but neither really called out to him. Perhaps he would take a stroll and see if anything piqued his interest...

It wasn't until he'd been going at a slow amble for about five minutes that Dei realized he was completely and utterly bored. There had to be something to do around here that would suitably entertain him!

Shuddering Hael took a breath and left another deep gouge in the soil at her feet. The clearing about her was cluttered with derbies of all things she had done in her latest temper tantrum. Some small bushes uprooted. Stones overturned or hurled about. Branches here and there from where she had broken them from the trees. She couldn’t even imagine how such a thing came to be. Here she had been so careful to keep her son from that deava spawn harlot and only to find out that her son had deava blood in him from the other Phim that helped produce him. Another tear slid down Hael’s cheek following the path of several that came before. Now exhausted and expended Hael laid down. She didn’t know what to do. How could she save her son from deavas when their blood tainted him? She loved him and wanted to protect him. Still she couldn’t see how. Closing her eyes Hael fell into a troubled light slumber.

Deimos' nose twitched as the smell of freshly turned earth and broken greenery hit them. Hmmmm. Well ordinarily he wouldn't even consider it worth his time to find out what was rooting around in the forest, but he was bored and didn't really have anything else he felt like doing at the moment either. So he changed course and followed his nose.

The source of the scent wasn't too far away. He shouldered through some bushes and rounded a tree to come face to face with a scene of destruction. He hummed tunelessly under his breath as he examined the damage, an eyebrow slowly creeping up as he did. Whoever did this must really have something against nature.

That's when Dei spotted the bright gold and cream of a fluffy tail, peeking from around a bush. He approached at a slow, leisurely pace, though tried to change the angle of his view rather than get close. He was a bit surprised when he spotted the owner of the tail.

His first thought would be that this Phim as attacked. After all Phims weren't know for destructive natures, and this spot had been quite thoroughly destroyed. A second glance was more telling. She was frowning and mutteringly lightly, as though having bad dreams, and twitching. One of her paws came into view, showing it liberally streaked with grim.

Dei sat back on his haunches and hummed again. If his luck was running true to form then he'd come across another troubled female. Geez, why him? So did he wait for her to wake up or walk out now before she added another complication to his life? His bushy tail flicked lazily behind him while he thought it out.

Her nose wrinkling Hael’s blue eyes opened up. Before her was a large purple paw with blue claws. A bit of singed plant smell reached her nose. Rolling on her stomach so she was better balanced she whipped her paws under her and sprang back away from the fox in front of her. Now with some distance between them she was glad she leapt back. Before her sat a male deava with white and purple fur. Frowning she glanced about looking for any other demons. Not seeing and she leveled her glare at the male before her. A half snarl formed on her lips. “Well to what do I owe this displeasure? ” Stepping back she used a paw and flipped her blue shawl over her shoulder from where it had come loose. She kept her wings close to her remembering how the male deava Radu had scratched her sides. Why the hell do I have to wake up to a deava right in my face? What kind of modiety would be so cruel as to have me cross paths with such a beast? Her tail thumped the ground behind her as she started to circle the deava. She was in no mood to deal with the brute yet there didn’t seem to be a way to get away from the deava male without notice since he had clearly already seen her. Had he been thinking of attacking her in her sleep? In her mind Hael say it as just a thing a deava would do so she congratulated herself on getting up in time not to end up a roasted lump.

Deimos yawned in a clearly bored fashion. "Displeasure. Most would consider themselves lucky to wake up and the first thing they see is such a magnificent creature. As to what you owe it to, well." Dei looked pointedly around him, then back at the female and raised an eyebrow. "I didn't know Phims hated nature so much."

The entire time Dei didn't stand back up, and the only movements he made were to those of a clearly relaxed individual. Whatever was making the female tense up, it wasn't affecting him at all.

Laughing bitterly Hael looked at the Deava. “Magnificent nothing. Abomination would be more accurate.” Her face was set in a deep frown as he made his snarky little comment about the damage done in her rage. “Oh I like nature just fine. I just can’t stand the stink of abominations.” Her frown turned into a bitter smile as she looked at the male and kept moving in her circle around the male. He seemed relaxed but so had that other deava she had met before.

Dei turned his head and gave the female a sidelong glance. "No need to be so jealous. Just because my fur is a much more brilliant white than yours doesn't mean you have to get snippy." He lightly scrapped a paw over the earth, leaving tiny gouges that vanished as soon as he set his paw back down.

"Besides, what qualifies me as an abomination? I love nature. Why, if you talk to my aunt she'll tell you my uncle is a woodland unicorn king, or something like that." Dei grinned, remembering Tsuna's face when Cicely brought it up. "And while I'm sure the night sky is very jealous of how beautiful my wings are, it does not qualify me as an abomination either."

Dei turned his head now to look at the female. "More to the point, I don't stink. Nor have I ever been in this clearing before, so you have no right to blame me for this destruction." Dei rolled his eyes. "Or are you one of those types that like to blame everyone and everything else because you are too mentally incompetent to handle reality without it crushing you?"

This male is so damn annoying! He and his ilk a unicorn of any kind? That’s a laugh in a half. And how dare he call me snippy! Cretin! Carleton! Abomination! “I’m not being snippy. I simply know better to trust a deava. As for your appearance. That is simply a matter of taste. Thankfully none of is to my taste. You have purple with random scatterings of teal. Truth be told you remind me more of a poorly constructed clown.”

He wants to mock me and play civil? Well I’ll show him that he’s not the only one who can play such a game. Straitening up as though stung by a bee Hael composed a look of calm on her face even if her voice suggested otherwise.“Simply because your stink was not in the clearing doesn’t mean you are the only abomination in the area. It’s so much fun to think yourself so important though.” She gave a haughty eye to the male. She was curios to see what he would do next. She was still off to the males side and away from him, yet she still expected an attack.

Deimos snorted. "I called you snippy because you are being snippy," he retorted. "I haven't done anything to warrent such hostile behavior, though I'm told I have a subconscious talent for pissing others off with a minimum of effort." He grinned. He was actually proud to have a talent like that, since it helped him weed out fakers from those who sincerely wanted him around. Whether he was wanted or not was irrelivant to the company he chose, but it was still nice to know.

He rolled his eyes. "A clown? That horrid thing humans dress up as to entertain when all they do is frighten? Please, I gave you more credit for creativity than that. If you want to insult me you'll have to take it up a notch."

The last bit of the female's rant played back through his head, and he shrugged. "Well of course I think I'm important. Otherwise I'd have gone spiraling down a self-destructive path eventually ending in either menial servitude or me offing myself. And again with the blaming others. If you intend to destroy every place a Daeva has ever been then you've got your life path set out before you from now 'til the day you die. Of course," he continued lazily, "you'll never be able to get every place before your eventual demise and new ones will keep popping up, so it's probably a good thing you seem to be stuck in a destructive self-denial. Otherwise the weight of hopeless realization would crush you as thoroughly as you seem to want to crush me."

He twisted his head in a new position to better able see the female, now that she had stopped moving. "Just to clue you in, you don't wear a mask very well. I've met others a lot more convincing in trying to fake me out. Your hostility radiates with enough intensity that I'm waiting for you to shed your skin and turn out to be a Daeva under all that." Dei tilted his head, grinning mischieviously. "You keep emulating our moods, you'll turn into one of us."

((lol Dei's trying for a variation of the old myth that moms toss at their kids. The one where they say if you keep making a certain face it'll stick that way.))

A lip curled up to show Hael’s teeth as the male talked. He looks so proud. I was right all deava’s are monsters. Who else could pride themselves in causing the suffering of others. “I’m not snippy. I’m honest. I don’t like you or your ilk. All deava’s I have met have been flat out monsters or have played nice and sweet probably with the intent to cause harm when it’s least expected so that they can laugh at the suffering they brought about. Much the same way you enough being an annoying vermin.” Smiling in what seemed to anyone a sweet and polite smile Hael couldn’t help but respond to the deavas jab. She knew she shouldn’t but he was just so infuriating. ” Honestly I think you to be more of a disgusting little blood sucking lice, but that just seemed mean so I held my tongue. Still as long your skin isn’t so thick as to so easily wounded I suppose it was senseless of me to hold back.” Sniffing in plain distain Hael looked the deava in all seriousness. “I don’t take insulting as an art form, unlike you, so I am clearly going to fall short in whatever sick expectations you have as to how I will insult you. Perhaps you should go take a dive off a steep tall cliff and keep your wings closed.”

Unable to keep stomaching the male’s logic Hael turned from him. She started pacing about the clearing. If she flew off now she knew she wouldn’t be able to think straight and might hurt herself while flying. Growling Hael hated the male and hated his words even more. They kept poking through and reaching her even though she didn’t want them too. That’s why he and those other leather winged monsters are lice! They are far to numerous and keep draining and irritating wherever they go!

Speaking slowly and through clenched teeth it was impossible to miss the venom in her voice. “I AM NO DEAVA!” Oh how she hated this male. Still he was pretending to be civil… civil enough anyway, so Heal felt compelled to keep up her act and not attack him. The image of her son appeared in her mind and she blanched her voice much weaker now. “my child isn’t either.”

Tired of craning his neck, Deimos stood and turned so he could face the female as she spoke. He plopped his butt right back on the ground, since she seemed to have stopped her circling for now and was focusing more on trying to vent all her own frustrations out on him.

"Obviously," he replied, rolling his eyes, "since, if the rolls were reversed, I'd be flapping away in fear your flaming tantrum would scorch my feathers."

Dei's pure-blue eyes narrowed, though not in a malicious way. "Why don't you try to set aside your rampaging emotions for a moment. Forget who is what in this clearing, go only by what has happened. I saw an area of great damage and a body that may or may not have been unconcious, and came to see if help was needed. Not only did you fly into a rash of insults and temper as soon as awakened, you are also the one who did all the damage. The insults and temper are understandable enough, given I might have startled you, but you continue with your bigotry despite having no evidence and no knowledge of what kind of person I might be. Throughout the conversation you have circled me, which could be seen as threatening, growled, and shown me your teeth."

Dei dipped his head to acknowledge himself with an ironic grin. "I am sitting here, quite calm, and have offered no physical threat to you. The only things I can be accused of are waking you up and being blunt in the extreme when rendering my own opinions on your emotional state."

He tilted his head a touch. "Give these descriptions to any bystander and tell them that a Phim and a Davea were involved, who do you think they would call the Daeva? You're certainly portraying the character better than I am."

He suddenly snorted in laughter. "Deities, what's happened to the world that Phims are turning out with volatile, emotional issues and Daevas are getting more sensitive? Perhaps I should blame my grandmothers for giving me Phim blood." He sighed dramatically. "Ah well. My sensitivity must be part of my charm. It would explain why all the women I meet seem to have emotional issues they need to work through." He grinned wickedly at the female, knowing it would probably set her off again. "Let me guess, you're going to blow that wildly out of proportion as well?"

Hael somehow managed to sit though the male’s little spiel without saying a word even though her insides had clenched and she was not only on the verge of tears but one or two traitorous one had snaked down her cheek. She wanted to rip his throat out, very very badly. Her face had paled and she had opened and closed her mouth a few times. Her claws pressed into the dirt below her and her wings seemed locked in a position close to her body. Her tail lay perfectly flat on the ground not even twitching. All in all had she been sitting by a pound one might have asked if she had swallowed a frog whole.

Damn this stupid arrogant abomination! Why the hell is he so calm? And he is parroting things I’ve heard before. “I may circle, growl, and show my teeth… so what? Have I attacked you? Or have I been doing what most other prey can do to scare away a predator? Here you sit and judge me yet you know nothing of my pain!” Two more stay tears followed their brethren. “Isn’t it better to take out all my anger and frustrations on plants than other foxes? Tell me how has what I done been wrong? No scratch that you deavas could find a problem with the modeities themselves. Hearing how I could go wrong in your eyes would be like hearing a fish lecture a bird. You’ve not attacked me. I’ll give you that. Neither did the other deava who did do me harm at first. He and his mate waited until my guard was dropped and I thought them friends.” A sob rose in Hael’s throat and she found it harder to talk. Was it just her or was her voice hoarser than before?

Finally noticing that she had been crying Hael lifted a paw and wiped her cheeks unknowingly leaving a smear of dirt and grime across them. “Stupid Deava.” Even Hael wasn’t sure which male deava she was talking to.. the one from her memories or the one before her. She shook her head and took a and awkward step back. Her body was feeling the strain of having been tense so long. This wasn’t good.

(To be fair the Radu thing did not quite happen like that.. but memory is the most precious and most traitorous of traveling companions.)

"But you clearly want to attack me," Deimos countered, after Hael had finished speaking. "I know hostile thoughts when I see 'em. I'll give you a point for yourself control though, since you think I'm being too judgmental."

All the insults and heated words the female had lobbed at him woke up another memory. "You think all Daevas are the same? That just cause I'm a Daeva I'm part of a cult designed to make up the stuff of nightmares?" Dei snorted. "I had an adult female Daeva attack me as a kit just cause she didn't like me staring at her and her kid. Fact is Daevas have as many personality types as any Phim or normal. There are mean and grumpy Phims and normals out there too. My aunt is one of them." Dei shrugged. "I'm not saying we don't earn our sterotype, but it's not all our fault. If others keep treating you like a dangerous beast about to go off on them at any second, after awhile it's gonna take it's toll. Sure we're solitary and grumpy and bitter, but when the alternative is company that keeps looking at you with frightened eyes and flinching when you speak to them, can you blame us?"

Dei had noticed the female was crying. He was pretty sure she was in a bad state right now, though he honestly didn't know how any comfort he offered would be recieved. He gave it a shot though. "Look, I'm sorry for your pain. Betrayal sucks, no two ways about it. Want me to cheer you up, I can totally trash my personality just as easily as I can glorify it." At that Dei grinned. It was true, he was completely honest with himself about his own personality flaws. He wasn't going for perfection though, and his flaws made him unique. Of course he would treasure them!

Hael snorted and rolled her eyes. Getting points from this abomination was definitely not on her list of lifetime achievements. A hiccup escaped Hael and she was embarrassed. Her cheeks burned as she hoped no more would be coming.

She wasn’t quite sure what to make of the male’s statement. On one level it made sense. If someone told you that you were dirt from the day you were born then after a while self esteem would crumble and you’d feel like dirt. Still Hael didn’t want to make a judgment to fast on the mother and kit. She blinked. The deava mother and kit. Why did the deava mother attack another deava? Did she think he had designs for her kit? Did her? Why does this even bother me? She shifted uncomfortably. Having a child of her own., she knew what it was like to want to protect a child, yet this male didn’t seem the type to want to hurt kits; though it was hard to judge. Shaking her head Hael tried to clear it. She couldn’t manage though. It was strange to find herself empathizing with a deava. Unsettling to say the least; Hael tried to figure out if the male was serious or if he was simply using words to placate her and find a weakness in her emotional armor.

Another hiccup escaped her, yet Hael took no notice. While trying to marshal her thoughts the male had made the offer to ‘cheer her up’. She couldn’t believe her ears. Starring at him like he lost his, if he had any, mind Hael really wasn’t sure if he was serious or not. “You must be joking. Why? I don’t..” The rest simply escaped Hael as she tried to shake her head again. Why should he a perfect stranger and a deava at that even care if she was in the least bit of distress. This made no sense. Feeling very uncomfortable she wanted to get up an flee right away, though her muscles were not obeying her command.

(*blink* I think he broke Hael *poke poke* *watches Hael fall over still in shock*)

Deimos took that as a affirmative, though an emotionally torn affirmative. "Well I don't have an exact list, so bear with me if I seem a bit disorganized at first." Dei made a humming noise under his breath while he apparently thought, then launched off into a mini speech.

"I am extremely vain, and while insults don't bother me because I think no one is able to fully appreciate just how glorious I am, I am easily manipulated with a couple sincere comments on my appearance. I'm horribly blunt and completely nonapologetic about it. I poke my nose into things simply because the other doesn't want me there and I'm stubborn beyond all belief, otherwise I'd have just flown off long ago. I believe that I am always right, but I'm horribly fickle so I can change my mind. I don't hide what I think about others because I feel it is a waste of my energy, and when I piss people off I don't care cause they're the ones who allowed themselves to get pissed."

Case in point, Hael allowed herself to get mad with him. Of course Deimos was always proud at being able to pull reactions out of others while he himself stayed calm. Oh, speaking of...

"Oh yea, and I've got a pride and ego bigger than my head can handle. A little of that goes with the vanity, I suppose. I think that's it, though I'm sure if I wracked my brains more I could think of something else. You know, since I'm wildly intelligent and all that." Deimos grinned.

"And speaking of being vain, if you wanna ask a question just to prove something is totally my fault, don't be shy." Dei tossed his head, eyes sparkling with mischievious humor. "I do enjoy talking about myself, like most any living creature does."
