There were days Jerome wondered just how long he would last being in Team Rocket, Waking up early, put on a set schedule, living in assigned quarters... numbers, and times, and uniforms... To say the least, this wasn't the kind of thing Jerome was used to, and it was apparent that he was having a hard time adapting.
It wasn't that he wasn't grateful or anything like that, He was alive, and he would rather be alive as a Rocket, than dead as an ET-14 Runner.
Jerome wasn't good at getting up early, wan't good about showing up to trainee lessons, and he wasn't particually good at being told what to do, at least not by these random dude, dressed in white, odviously higher rank. Jerome didn't even know their name, and they were barkin' at him to do somethin'? Whatever man, you know where to shove it.
The ex-gangster wasn't necessarily disrespectful, just unresponsive, even when faced with threats, and he started to notice he was getting quite a few of those.
A heavy signed blew through Jerome's nose, joined by a streak of smoke, he had inhaled form his cigarette. Another morning, another class he was probably going to be missing... not that he would have been able to find the right room anyway. Whatever,
Jerome stood, leaned against the frame of an open window in one of the halls, inked black eyes surrounding the contrasting light brown of his pupils fixed, with a half lidded expression on the desert beyond. Freaked him out every time... nothing should be that flat. Floating around next to him what an board looking Gangar, the large ghost had his hands folded behind his back, eyes closed, and teeth bared in an frown. "Gar..."

She should have known better than to let Jerome just be off on his own in the organization after having hauled his almost dead carcass in. While the gangster had been laid up, Nikki had made sure he was registered and his recruitment was listed under her name. Since then, she hadn't seen the man at all. It hadn't really occurred to her to track him down, as she was busy with her own assignments. However, now she had a reason.
The resounding clacks of heeled boots echoed through the hallway as the blonde made her way. She had gotten a tip where to find him, and it had proved to be accurate as she saw Jerome standing there by a window. Long blonde hair swayed as she moved, until Nikki came to a stop just a few paces to the side of the trainee. She leveled her disapproving brown gaze on him and folded her arms across her chest, after glancing at a wall clock.
"You're 3 minutes late for your training session." She told him, although she had a feeling he was well aware of this fact.

Jerome was used to people walking by, so at first, hearing bootfalls didn't attract his attention, it was when they stepped, and close by him that his head turned to the side, his glance shifting to find... "Feathers..." He said after a moment's pause, eyes blinking a couple of times.
He wasn't expecting to see her, the last time he saw her was on the streets, when he got shot.
glancing over at the clock when she did, than back to her. reaching a hand out the window to flick the ash off the end of his cigarette, before pinching off the tip to put it out. "Yeah, Guess I am." He replied, to be honest, he didn't know when training was.

Nikki's eyes narrowed slightly at his rather aloof response, as well as the cigarette he held in his hand. She couldn't help but wrinkle her nose slightly at the smell of the smoke. She hated that smell.
"And? That's it?" She snorted in disgust, clearly displeased with this. "I've heard reports that you''ve been late or not showing up at all to basic training. Seems you also have some issues with authority. Is it your mission to embarrass me?"

Once the light was out, Jerome flicked the butt of the cigarette out of the window, blinking as he looked back over at her. Well, he could have expected this, he got it from other people before.
"Embarrass you?" He asked, with a rise of his eyebrow. Shaking his head he held a hand up. "woh, how you pushed into this? me not goin's on me." He replied,
Bro has unfolded his arms from behind his head, drifting behind Jerome to watch Nikki with a curious expression, glancing from the women to Jerome. He remembered this chick, she's the one that blew up those Griffs. AWESOME! "Gan gan gar!" he chuckled.
"Ain't like I need those classes, could out preform any of em," He added with a shrug. Physically anyway, at least he was convinced of this. "Don't see the point."

Nikki leaned forward as she glared up at Jerome indignantly, while poking a finger at his chest.
"The point is I'm the one that recruited you and your performance reflects on me! Everyone has to go through basic training whether you like it or not. Do you not get it? Once you're in Team Rocket there's no way out, and if you're not considered useful... you could end up the same way had I not found you. I gave you a second chance, and don't make me regret it by blowing it."
She liked this guy, especially since the two of them had a somewhat common background. But she could not tolerate him just shirking off his duties in such a manner.
Nikki sighed as she straightened up again. It seemed like all the failures were being thrown in her lap. First it as Liam, now it was her own recruit. "I've been ordered to oversee your training now. Since I recruited you, you're now my problem." She lifted a brow as she said this, looking at Jerome expectantly.

Eyes still half lidded, the gangster's eyebrows arched as he glanced down at the finger now being poked against his chest. He didn't make any protest to this though, simply glancing back up at her clearly displeased face, inked black eyes with contrasting bright iris blinking a few times before his own frowned deepened, clearly listening to what she was saying.
It was almost funny, the situation he was in right now, this girl was how old? certainly young, at least thats what he would call it. not that age was stopping her at all, and he knew why. She was after all, the one that had saved his life, against a group of the Griffs nonetheless. That was probably why he wasn't just blowing her off like he did the other Agents.
Jerome grunted once through his nose, lifting a hand up to brush it over his chest where she had poked him. "Ait. ait, I get'cha girl," He replied, lifting the corner of his mouth, as he spared a glance away from her for a while. "This place has got some messed up ways of doin' things," He commented with a shrug, clearly, he didn't get it. "I ain't meanin' no disrespect to ya Feather or anything like that."
He felt it at that, not exactly going into why he was skipping out, if he could even explain it to himself, it could be something as simple as 'he just didn't want to'
At the mention that she was now going to be the one to oversee his training, the dark man arched a brow, looking back over to her. Well, this was interesting, and unexpected. "Yer problem eh?" He repeated with a slight chuckle rumbling twice from his chest.
Normally he might laugh this off and go on his way, but he found he wasn't to annoyed with this set up. And for a while, he stared at her, eyelids drooped again, as his arms were folded across his chest, staring back at her.
After a moment, he shrugged "I'm down with that."

Nikki did have an edge with Jerome, and she knew it. It was likely that her superiors knew it too, which was also why they wanted her to deal with him. He reminded her of some people she grew up with though, so she really didn't mind so much. He was nothing like that idiot, Liam.
Nikki straightened up and folded her arms across her chest when the man finally relented. The corner of her mouth twitched slightly but she retained a serious look. "Well, I can't say I totally disagree with you, but you should at least show some gratitude. This place provides you food, pay, and a place to sleep, provided you just do what you're told. Its a small price to pay, I think."
She looked significantly more pleased when he agreed to follow along. "Good. Once you get through basic training, you shouldn't have a problem. You'll understand more about this organization, and what you have to do. ... Just how much have you learned so far, anyway?" She was almost afraid to ask.

Letting out a long breath though his nose, shifting his weight from one foot to the other at her words, yeah, he probably could act more grateful to the organization he was in. I wasn't like he wasn't willing to help out, just... this was all really strange to him. This wasn't at all how his gang worked before.
She asked about what he learned, and he gave it a moment of confused thought. "Ya mean for trainin' here?" He confirmed, followed with a slight shrug of his shoulder. "Tried sittin' through one of those lectures, got somethin' bout ranks... I guess" Jerome was never good about sitting in classes, and actually paying attention. he barely went to school after all. "that was when I was still shot up."

"I see," Nikki said quietly after heaving her own sigh. She couldn't blame him much really. She hadn't liked sitting through the classes much either, but she had been determined to do her best. That was the thing that was seemingly different between her and Jerome. But just the same, Team Rocket had been a second chance for her as well.
"Well then, I guess we'll have to start from the beginning." And with that, the blonde motioned for him to follow her. "Perhaps the most important thing to know is how the ranks work. Just like what you're use to, there are tiers of authority and you'll find yourself in trouble if you disrespect those above you. Knowing who is who, is key. You're a trainee, which is obviously at the very bottom. At the top is the Boss, Lucere, who is rarely seen by anyone other than the Executives. They answer only to the Boss and are dressed in distinctive black and white uniforms with a red and black 'R' patch. Next down are the elite agents, who are dressed in black and white with red stripes. Then there are the agents, like me, who wear mostly white. Below agent and the next step up from trainee, is the grunt level, which wears mostly black."
Nikki then paused to cast a glance back at Jerome to see if he understood or was even listening.

Nikki started walking, and as she gestured, Jerome's glanced back over at Bro, who shared a glance with him, floating after the two humans when Jerome shocked his hands into his pocket and strode after the Agent.
Silent up to the part when she glanced over back at him, having been staring at the back of her head as they walked, his inked eye shifted to catch her gaze, showing he was indeed listening, but to confirm it he gave a nod. "Kinda like color gangs yeah? Just gatta remember the colors." sounded easy enough.

"Something like that," Nikki agreed. "Although there are a few who have... unique "uniforms" and can be more difficult to tell. But the most important people are easy to pick out."
She paused and turned to look at Jerome with a frown. "I don't know if you've had the pleasure of meeting Executive Seth yet. He's the one that newcomers tend to get in trouble with the most. He'll not hesitate to throw you into the brig if you get too far out of line. Make sure you -always- address him as sir." My how rumors did fly around there. Even Nikki could pick up snippets of what was going on around the base just be eavesdropping on the conversations of others.

While he didn't remember the name, just what Nikki was telling Jerome about this guy did ring a bell, it was after all what a fellow Rocket he called Furs had told him about a certain higher ranking Rocket, being thrown into the brig, easily getting in trouble. Must be the same guys.
"Heard of the guy" Jerome said, with a nod "don't think I've met him." This was the second person who's warned him against Seth.

"I'm certain you will eventually. He's far too self important and high in rank for you to avoid forever. He doesn't exactly blend in with the crowd."
There was another pause and a frown as Nikki stopped to glance at the man's uniquely designed Gengar. "By the way. I'm assuming you're planning on training Pokemon? How much do you actually know about it? Pokemon come in useful during missions and it would be best to have a wide range for different uses."
She viewed Jerome as a mostly self reliant individual who probably had a single Pokemon for convenience and perhaps a sort of companion. Not unlike herself when she first arrived at Team Rocket.

Jerome gave a slight tilt of his head, followed with a shrug of one shoulder. He didn't really have an opinion either way about this guy so far, but he seemed to be one of the dude who got to tell everyone else what to do. At least she gave Jerome forewarning.
When Pokemon training was brought up, Jerome blinked once, following her gaze over to Bro' Who smirked at both of them and flexed. "I'm no league trainer, but I think I figured it out alright, Been workin' with Bro' here since I was younger, and he's good."
Bro nodded to what Jerome said. "Gar Gar, Gangar." and leaned an elbow onto the trainee's shoulder.
"Don't have any other pokemon though, always just had Bro'" It wasn't exactly easy for him to get other pokemon, not that he had really been to interested in it.
