It's been an eventful two days. -pulls up a chair and tells her story-

So, it all started when my sister called me Saturday night and told me that my nephew (her dog) had thrown up a worm. I told her that he obviously had worms and that there was nothing she could do about it until monday when she could take him to the vet. She was kind of upset because he had just been to the vet not that long ago for seriously spraining one of his paws (that and she's trying to save her money to go to atlanta this weekend). My mom saved her the vet visit by telling me that they sold dewormer and stuff for dogs at the Co-Op. She wasn't sure what to get so I told her I would go and check it out.

Monday hits and my sister's car is on two very flat tires (both on the drivers side). I bring out the portable air tank and fill them back up enough to where she can drive it to the service station and top them off. We get to the service station and notice that one of her tires has a hole in it (thread hanging all out of the tire and everything). So, we take her car back and get into my car...which refuses to start. Three letters immediately come to mind when my car won't turn over: WTF!? I call my step dad and he comes out to take a look at it because I seriously don't know why it won't start. Apparently my distributor cap was messed up and it's been running hot so I also needed a new thermostat. If anything, it's locking up because it's so hot.

So, my step dad and I go to get a cap and thermostat, come back and I install the cap. Car cranks up. Awesome. But, I'm still worried about it running hot. By now my sister's car is back onto at least one flat and there's nothing I could do about that at the moment so I took my car home and put it in the gate to let it cool off so my step dad and I could get to work on it.

So yesterday I got hot and sweaty when I planned on making a quick trip and that being the end of it. Not to mention it started pouring down rain in one section of the city so I got soaked and then got to be hot and sweaty again because it was dry as a bone where my sister lives.

Today rolls around and I wake up early so we can get my thermostat on before the sun starts blazing in the sky. My sister calls me and asks me to bring my mom's car to her so she can go around and find the best place (cheapest place) to get some tires. I take her the car, she drops me back off and 20 minutes later she's calling me telling me to bring the air tank so we can air up her tires because she's found a place close by that will put tires on her car. Okay, awesome. I put air in the portable tank, we go to her apartment and as I'm putting air in her front tire we can hear it coming out just as fast from the hole. Well crap. I told her to get her spare tire out and we'll just put that on. She says she doesn't want to go through all of that because the place is just down the street so I say fine and ask her if she has any duct tape. She says no, but goes to get some electrical tape. We shove it into the hole and put tape all around it, but it's not working very well as a ghetto rigged patch. I say screw it and get the donut out of her trunk.

What should have been a simple tire change turned into a task. My uncle was the last one to put the tires back on her car because he changed out her break pads and what not and he put the lugs back on waaaaay too tight. Seriously, I got the four way out and was doing my best to loosen the things up. When it felt like I was about to rip a muscle in the my chest I let my sister have a go at it (she is way stronger than me. but then, a wet noodle is stronger than me). She couldn't get it either. She tried the others and got one loose so I decided that it needed to be a team effort. She pushed up on one side as I pushed down on the other. After putting in effort that would have had anyone watching us laughing their butt off, we finally got the lugs loose and was able to get the tire off. We get the donut on and tighten it up as much as two average females can and send her off to the tire shop.

I was going to follow her down there, but it took so long to change the tire out that it was 11:30am by the time we finished and my mom needed her car back by noon. As for my car...it's still sitting inside the gate. My step dad went to put on the new thermostat as I was messing around with my sister's car and he noticed that the thermostat housing was all screwed up. He went to go get a new one, but they were like $80 and he said f*** that. So I'm going to try and get together with my uncle today and go down to the junk yard to see if I can pull one off of a 5.0 mustang or '93 cougar (if they have any). Hopefully they have some good ones, if not then my step dad will dish out the $80. Right now I want to kick my car, but if I do then he just might break down into a pile of junk right there on the spot.

Have to go for now. Maybe I'll have more story when I get back, lol.

Part two of the tale. -pulls up a chair again-

So my sister got four 'new' (they're used, but almost look brand new) tires put on her car. When a car has a messed up pair of shoes (tires) it makes a big difference. I thought for sure she would need an alignment all the way around from the way her car had been shaking, but it was just that her tires were that bad. It drove perfectly fine when she came to pick me up after she had gotten the 'new' tires put on. So, alignment can go on the back burner. She does still need a starter....badly.

Now for my car. It's still sitting in the gate. Couldn't get in touch with my uncle so my step dad and I were about to go to Pull A Part or U Pull It but he told me to call around first. I called O'Reilley and they didn't have the part nor could they order it. So then I called Autozone. This was funny because I told the chick over the phone what kind of car I had and I made sure to specify that it was the 8 cylinder cougar. I have no clue why she thought I meant 6 cylinder when I clearly stated 8. I'm just going to say it was a slow moment for her because after I specified for the third time that my car was indeed a V8 it finally clicked with her and she put it into the computer (I was about to go outside and verbally count my cylinders for her before taking a picture of it and bringing it up to her so that she could see that cougars do come in 8 cylinder). So, first that happens and then she tells me news that's too good to be true; not only can she get the part I need, but it's only going to cost me $10 eek (keep in mind that the other place wanted $80 for it). The other place was a dealership so yea, asking them for stuff is expensive but if they wanted $80 for it I figured everywhere else would at least be $50. I tell my step dad this and he burst into laughter and immediately says the chick pulled up the wrong part. We stopped by the store anyway though since it never hurts to make sure and yea...it was the part I needed for $10. Surprised my step dad so much that he had to go out to his truck for a moment, lol. I didn't waste any time and told them to go ahead and order it and to let me pay for it before someone changed their mind about the price. So, I have to go pick it up in about an hour. Then we can get Fugly (my cars name) up and running again. ^_^

Still doing some work on the Nova (the race car). My step dad was in the garage putting more of the engine together, but one of the parts has the smallest little thing wrong with it, but it'll cause big problems if not corrected. So there's a little stall in that but hopefully it can be corrected and a new part won't have to be ordered.

So yea, that was my life today. What was yours like?
