Taoshira had just been taking a stroll on the edge of a forest when she caught the faint smell of apples. She also smelled one other distinct scent: a mare. Only having eaten grass for the past couple of days, the taunting apple smell compelled her to enter the forest. Being very careful the whole way, she got so close to the apples when she heard hooves softly on the ground. Taoshira had no choice but to hide because it was the same scent that covered everywhere. It was pointless to hide, but it was also pointless to run. The mare could catch her in an instant. Maybe if she hid it would help her.

Even when the mare said to come out, she had her doubts. Her head down she quietly came out of her hiding spot. Every muscle in her tiny body was tense and rigid in case she needed to try to make an escape. She did not look directly into her eyes, but rather at her golden hooves.

Hearing the mares threats only increased her fear. Those darn apples...she thougt to herself. Taoshira sighed silently and started her death march towards the mare. She hoped that her death would be quick since she was turning herself in. when she knew the mare was only a couple trees away she stopped, head hung low and submissive as she waited for her doom.

Only now that she had been found had she dared look up to the mare's face. The golden eyes were piercing and her markings were beautiful, but it did nothing to assuage her fear. Speaking through her fear Tashi said, "I...I smelled apples Ma'am...I'm sorry...I'll leave.." And with that, she started retreating backwards, never turning around though.

Taoshira stretched her neck out to grab the apple before she bit into it and savored the sweet juices. After finishing the first, she looked back at her.

"I'm sorry for trespassing on your land..." She paused, looking at the ground thinking. "I don't know where my parents are. I haven't seen them in such a long time I don't even remember when..." Tashi thought really hard, trying to remember anything, something, about her parents but came up blank just like all the other times she had tried.

"My name is Taoshira, Ma'am. But I normally just go by Tashi...it's much easier." She said as she stretched her neck for the other apple.

Since her frame was still pretty small, she had to take a few steps forward in order to get to the apple. Again, she savored the fruit's sweet taste, being thankful that things hadn't gotten bad. "Thank you for the apples." Tashi said politely.

"Oh..yes ma'...Voreti." Tashi nibbled at the third apple, by now her little tummy was getting kind of full, but it was never a good idea to turn down yummy food when you didn't know when you would get it again.

"I don't really have a permanent place of living...I sleep where I am at the end of the day. If it seems safe of course. I'll normally stay around the same spot since I know it is safe. You have a very nice forest."

"I wouldn't want to be a burden..." Tashi said, thinking of what this mare could want from her in exchange for the apples and a place to stay. You never got something for nothing, she thought to herself, that's just not how things have ever worked. No matter how hard she though, she couldn't think of anything Voreti would want from a tiny girl like herself. Her tail swished nervously and her ears flicked listening for anything out of the ordinary.
