He had gotten off less than twenty minutes ago but he wasted no time disappearing into the darkness of an empty alley to power up and begin his patrol for the night. It was one of the rarer occasions where he didn't travel down to the rift to either battle a youma or attend some sort of lesson offered to him by the General Serandite. Instead he chose tonight to lurk the streets of Destiny City, perhaps preying upon unsuspecting civilians.

If he was lucky maybe he would have a run-in with a senshi to test some of his newly acquired combat skills. It was wishful thinking however, instead tonight he had some sort of direction. He was on his way to meet with a fellow lieutenant, one he knew from before his time in the negaverse. A friend turned ally on the field, one that had been recently recruited to the soldiers fighting to save the earth from the space terrorists claiming to fight for love, truth and justice.

Whatever that meant.

The candy haired lieutenant wasted no time scaling a fire escape ladder, to running across rooftops hurrying to meet his destination. He had agreed to meet the dark haired girl in the park at the site of their last chest game. It had taken him little to no time to arrive on scene and all he could do was wait for her to show up.

Lady Luck really did love her. That was what she thought when she learned that Chase had also joined the Negaverse. She wouldn’t have to blindly grope in the darkness, searching for vague answers from people she barely knew and could hardly trust. Now she had someone she had known long before her enlistment. Anything she didn’t know, she could ask him.

Fukalite slipped out of her dorm, opening the window and leaping onto a sturdy tree branch with a quiet ease—a useful skill she finally obtained from numerous nights of patrolling and escaping school grounds. No longer would she have to worry about her roommate groggily awaking from her clumsy shuffling. She jumped from the tree and landed on her feet—something she thought would never happen. Her athletic skills were rather lacking when it came to acrobatics and jumps, but powering up seemed to somewhat nullify that. In fact, she now realized that powering up granted her a convenient boost in all of her physical abilities. Incredibly convenient and useful.

Her boots softly treaded across the grass as she snuck off campus. It didn’t take long before Fukalite found herself running through desolate city streets. Longingly, she glanced up at the rooftops as she recalled the glowing general. Up in the rooftops, huh? Perhaps…? She picked up speed and jumped. After a series of small jumps, she was delighted to discover that she was now hopping from rooftop to rooftop. “This is sort of awesome,” she mumbled, grinning goofily.

After a few minutes of rooftop hopping, she spotted the park as well as a familiar flash of pink. Fukalite grinned and waved as she jumped off a café and darted across the street. “Cha—Labryinthite, was it?” She managed to catch herself just in time. It would take some time before she would be able to comfortably switch between the two names. She was noticeably more excited and bubbly than usual, no doubt it was because it had been a while since she last saw the lad.

He felt her arrival just a couple minutes before she came into view. He grinned at her as she approached, cocking a brow when she almost let his civilian name slip. He was sure it wouldn't be a big deal if she had, there were a hundred Chases in DC but still it was the principal of thinks. "Careful, Fukalite," he warned feigning anger as he pushed off the wall and strolled closer to her.

He couldn't keep the serious face for too long before a grin broke out across his face. Fukalite was Hayden, a long time friend and one of his best partners in crime. When he had learned that she too had been recruited into the ranks of negaverse soldiers, he had been excited. It was one of the few pieces of good news he had received recently, one he needed after his rough couple of weeks following his break up.

"Hey," he called stopping a couple yards from her to let her cover the rest of the distance. "Yeah, Lieutenant Labyrinthite. Just think Labyrinth then ite. Pretty simple eh?" He replied when she asked him of his name. "How are you adjusting?" He asked cocking his head slightly as he pulled his hand through his hair. It was a habit he had a hard time breaking, something he tended to do too often.

"You know," he paused amber eyes looking away briefly. "I'm really glad that you're here, apart of all this y'know?" He liked knowing he had someone from his old life, it was comforting.

She laughed and donned a fake, apologetic face in return. “I’m sorry, sir. It just slipped out. I promise I won’t do it again, really!” Unlike her regular voice, slightly low and smooth as honey, she upped her pitch to resemble a plain, clumsy servant girl. Bemused, Fukalite returned to her usual voice as she added, “No, really. The fact that I know you outside of the Negaverse made it difficult to use your name. You’re the first friend I know that is in the same boat as I am, although you’ve been in it longer than I have.”

Labryinthite stopped a few yards away from her, leaving the more inexperience lieutenant to walk toward him. “Simple indeed, although I must say I do enjoy the name I was given for obvious reasons.” She grinned slyly. “Apparently it has Japanese origins and should be pronounced like foo-koo-light, but really, I’m never going to pronounce it like that when I can say f***-a-light as much as I want.” Her grin broadened as she spoke. On more than one night Fukalite had entertained herself by repeating her name over and over—and if someone nearby was uncomfortable with it? Too bad for them.

She shrugged, idly running a hand through her ponytail. “Alright. I’ve somehow been managing the energy quotas and made my way through a few skirmishes with some senshi. Still need to get used to this nocturnal schedule, though.” Fukalite smiled, reassuringly patting him on the back as he looked away. “I understand your feelings—completely and utterly.”

“So, sir—“ Another grin. “—as the one with more experience, do you have any tips for little ol’ me? And maybe tell me how you’ve been doing lately. It’s been a while.”

"As you should be," he said holding his head high and making a show of adjusting his jacket. He had lowered his voice to be gruffer, playing along with his friend's little game. When Fukalite returned to her normal tone of voice, so did he. "I know," he said tiredly, as he rubbed the back of his neck. "But you don't know who may be around. The glamour can only protect us so far," he warned though he wasn't in the least bit worried, as far as he could tell there were no other energy signatures close enough for him to fret about.

Not that he would have anyway.

"You'll just have to get used to it," he told her before she went off about her name. He grinned, suppressing a laugh because truthfully he'd say the same thing. "At least your name is fun, mine's a little boring really," he shook his head as though he was disappointed. "But, ah, what can you do?" He threw his hands up as if it was out of his hands.

"Ugh, senshi. They're such pests. The other day I nearly had the starseed of one of them when another came barreling by and got in my way," he frowned thinking of the encounter with the senshi of volcanoes and the senshi of dragonflies. "Didn't feel like dealing with two of them so I bailed, but I'll get them back." He had a personal grudge with senshi, one that extended deeper than the goals of the negaverse. He didn't believe that they belonged here, he considered them invaders as well but...he personally wanted to end a few of them.

He bent down without thinking, to wrap a hand around the ankle that had been marked, scarred by the senshi of rainbows when he had just been a civilian. She was the one that he wanted revenge on, she was his primary target. Unfortunately as a lowly lieutenant there was nothing he could do, she outranked him and probably would crush him if he bothered to engage her in battle.

He shook his head, standing as he turned to focus on Hayden. "Yeah, don't fight anything above your power level, it's not a good idea," he instructed as he began to walk forward briskly. "Follow me," he told her, not bothering to glance back. "I also prefer to stick to rooftops, easier to avoid civilians and can make for a good get-a-way," he paused glancing back. "What do you want to know?"

She smiled as he adjusted his jacket and returned her playful reply with one of his own. Ex-Azure Valley boy or not, Chase was a friend she could rely on when it came to enjoying herself. Most people she knew would merely smile or laugh, or even quizzically stare at her when randomly entered her brief acting games. “Hm. Yes, so I’ve just recently come to realize,” Fukalite agreed as she stared at him with curious eyes. No longer could she think of the other lieutenant merely as Labryinthite, but as both Chase and Labryinthite at the same time. It was a bit baffling to think about it at first, but she was already adapting to it.

“No worries, Labryinthite.” A grin. “I can be quite adaptive when I need to be.”Fukalite laughed as she waved off his trifling complaint. “I’m sorry, hun, but we can’t all be blessed with names as wonderful as mine.”

“Personally, I find them to be more like pansies, but that’s probably because I’ve entered this odd streak where I keep meeting cowardly senshi.” She shrugged, as if to casually say ‘go figure.’ “I’ve met some that could be considered pests and a real pain in the behind, but most of my encounters have been so-so.” Her eyes turned steely at the mention of a starseed. Awkwardly, Fukalite averted gazes as she struggled to fight down a fit of anxiety. Stealing energy was fine and dandy, but attempting to snatch someone’s life force was different matter altogether. She managed a grin as the usual gleam in her eyes returned. “Two on one, eh? That’s a shame. I would have loved to have assisted you—two on two would have been much fairer.”

For reasons she did not know, Labryinthite bent down and held onto his ankle. She threw him an inquiring look as she cocked her head to the side, but did not move to join him and squat. “Eh? Ah, yes. Wise advice.” Although fighting someone above her power level was on the back of her mind already. He walked past her and she immediately turned around to follow him. “To be honest, I just like being able to jump from rooftop to rooftop,” she confused with a lighthearted smile. “Uh---well, just curious, what kind of higher-ups have you met?”

He let out a big sigh and pressed the back of his hand against his forehead dramatically. "Oh woe is me," he whined jokingly tossing his friend a wink when he dropped his hand. "Ah, well I guess I'll just have to live with it," he shrugged his shoulders casually as he strolled forward unaware that Hayden was very confused about his bending down. Of course he hadn't told her, he hadn't told anyone and was likely to not share that particular incident. He didn't like sharing stories that embarrassed him.

"I've met my own share of weaklings, met a couple of...stronger senshi as well," he thought back to his own battle experiences. "Got a few rivals on the other side now I suppose, though I'm sure I can take them down easy," he grinned, confidence radiating off him. "As for that pair, well there was another officer but he, uh, had his hands full previously. It's nothing really, kid's not much of a fighter but makes a damn good bar partner," he laughed thinking about Jack and the outings they had.

"Not too many, depends on what you consider higher-up," he said frowning slightly. "General Serandite, she's assisting me with some training, General Hematite though it wasn't on pleasant terms and we still have our, ah differences," he paused, expression darkening at the mention of the dark skinned general. Differences indeed, again something he probably would not elaborate on. "Captain Fluorite, Captain Painite who I have not seen in a while and...the corrupt super senshi Alkaid," his expression seemingly softening at the mention of the senshi before shifting into something of sadness before he grinned at her again. "I'm hoping to get a private audience with the General-Queen Tanzanite soon," he told her, a fact he hadn't shared with anyone. "I have some things to...seek her help with," he explained but left it at that. He had his secrets and he was inclined to keep them that way.

"What else?"

She could only imagine what it was like to meet a senshi stronger than her. Fukalite scowled at the imagery—a senshi, most likely a girl around her age or even younger, pummeling Fukalite with her magical attacks or combat prowess and overall just kicking her a**. She did not enjoy the sight, imagined or not. She took careful note to avoid those on a power level higher than hers, which wouldn’t be too hard since she was currently the lowest of the low. “Rivals, you say?” she repeated, eyebrows raised and tone tinged with curiosity. To her, the concept of rivals usually implied some sort of civility and friendliness, or at least acknowledgement of the other’s abilities. Odd. Rivalries could actually develop with people from the other side?

“I’m sure you could.” She trailed behind Labryinthite, her boots softly clacking. “Bar partner, you say? I’d love to meet this fellow—and I’m being quite sincere about that.” There was nothing like having a drink at the bar with a couple of friends and acquaintances.

General Hematite. Fukalite saw the way her friend’s expression darkened and she couldn’t agree more. Fortunately, she had not met him often, but for some reason he had called her and a bunch of other lieutenants for overnight training. She bit her lip. Fukalite predicted that she would not be enjoying that night. Labryithite began to list a couple of captains, one of which she vaguely recalled meeting when General-Queen Tanzanite first introduced the Rift.

“Oh, you know a corrupt senshi?” She would have continued speaking, but the unusual look on his face stopped her. Fukalite blinked, examining Labryinthite before he began to grin at her again. She smiled back. “A private audience? With General-Queen Tanzanite?” She whistled, impressed. “I can only imagine what you’re going to ask her.” She smirked.

“What else? Hmmm. Well, what are corrupted senshi like?” Fukalite had thought that senshi were the enemy, so why enlist their aid?

"I've met a couple of senshi that technically outrank me. One, a scout whose name I don't know, but she's got a yellow skirt and rainbows and she's an eternal. I think, pretty sure that's what she is..." He let himself trail off as he scrunched his face up in thought. He still struggled with sensing auras, but he was sure that she was an eternal senshi. "Another one I met as a plain old senshi, he'd leveled up the next time I saw him, so he's a super at least. Which sucks because it means I'm behind," he grumbled irritated that he had been outranked so quickly.

He really needed to work on that.

"Yeah, he's definitely a good guy to drink with, he loves his women though," he cautioned, only mildly not particularly caring if Hayden ended up being interested. Though, a heads up never hurt. "I'll introduce you sometime," he promised. He continued forward, amber eyes scanning the surrounding to see if anyone was nearby.

"This way," he told her taking a sharp right as he ducked into an alleyway. "We're hitting the rooftops," he stated casually glancing at her as he looked up, thankful the building was only two stories high. It'd be an easy jump. He paused when Tanz was brought up again, "Yeah got a few things actually." He was grinning though he was a bit nervous about the impending meeting.

"I knew one kinda personally, met another one the other day. They're mostly normal? Depends though," he sighed shrugging as he glanced back the way they came. "Alunite was just like any other officer, sorta annoyed at he had magic instead of a weapon and Alkaid...she was, ah," he paused hesitant to continue. He had a hard time describing her. He mentally cursed, he probably shouldn't have brought her up if he didn't want to talk about her. "She seemed a bit lost, reminiscent of the stars but completely devoted to the negaverse," his voice quieted because it harder for him to talk about than he had realized.

"Completely devoted," he repeated before he was looking back up. "Let's go," he told her prepping himself and launching himself into the air, his hands shot out and caught the edge of the roof and he pulled himself up. He stood at the top peering down at Fukalite waiting for her to follow suit.
PostPosted: Sun Jul 24, 2011 5:44 pm

Rainbows. The word caught her slightly off guard. “Rainbows, you say?” Her eyes narrowed thoughtfully as she brought a finger to her lips as she curiously envisioned the eternal senshi. Fukalite giggled at the thought. “Am I supposed to assume that this particular is a senshi of rainbows? I really can’t help but think that this is goddamn funny. Senshi have the silliest powers, sometimes.” She found it difficult to imagine a rainbow-based attack that was powerful and befitting of an eternal senshi. Fukalite could only conjure up silly images like gold at the end of a rainbow, double rainbows, and spectrum-colored pastries, none of which seemed very dangerous.

“Don’t worry, I know you’ll catch up soon.” She sounded confident as she reassuringly patted Labryinthite on the shoulders. “When you get promoted, don’t forget about little ol’ lieutenant Fukalite.” Her lips spread out into a wide smile.

Fukalite tried not to scoff. “Yes, and I love my men and women. I’m sure we can get along fine.” Her steps briefly gained an excited bounce as she continued to follow him. “I’ll hold you to your word.”

Her strides suddenly shortened as she awkwardly followed Labryinthite into an alleyway. She knew how to make sharp turns, but she was more used to doing them in comfy sneakers rather than her boots. Simple and plain as they were, her boots were still boots and clearly not designed for smooth running. “A few things, you say?” Fukalite grinned.

The name Alunite seemed vaguely familiar. Had she passed by him while in the negaspace? Probably, Fukalite quickly concluded. Labryinthite paused, causing her to curiously eye her friend. Was it her, or was that pause suspicious? Eyes narrowed slightly, but Fukalite kept her lips tightly shut. Instincts told her that prying would not end very well. Perhaps another day.

“If only I could be as devoted as you describe this senshi.” She stifled a chuckle as she leapt after him. “I really don’t consider myself the type that is capable of being ‘completely devoted.’”

He nodded, "rainbows indeed." His only frustration remaining about that senshi was that he still didn't know her name. It prevented him from gaining much, if any information on her and he couldn't very well interrogate every senshi he came across, he'd get little to nothing done that way. Especially if he continuously ran into senshi that hadn't met her, which with the amount he saw in the battle for Elysion, was highly likely. Maybe once he kicked her a** he'd get what he was seeking. If only. "I assume as much, her abilities appear to point to as much," he responded thinking back to his first encounter with her. She'd constantly been saying rainbow this, rainbow that.

"I know," he replied confidently. He felt as though he was on the verge of captaincy and he hoped as much. He longed to rank up and catch up to those who challenged him. Including those within the negaverse though he was certain it would be a while before he was ready to face him. He curled his hands into fists at the thought. Oh how he could not wait. "Forget about you?" He pretended to be taken back by this though. "Never." Hayden had been a close partner in crime as a simple human and now that they were both soldiers fighting for a greater cause, her assistance and even loyalty would be prized.

"Perhaps you'd be able to join my team when I can form one," he offered grinning. "It'll be like old times," he promised as she followed him. He started forward, pausing only briefly enough to assure that she was following. "I could, if I wanted," he told her without second thought. He had the ability to devote himself to whatever he thought was in his best interest, though until recently he had hardly put it into action. Things changed though. "It'd depend on the course I chose to take. Something would have to change."

By his vague description, Fukalite was almost tempted to meet this senshi—almost. The senshi of rainbows was at least a super, and there was even slim chance she had leveled up to eternal. Rainbows or not, the lieutenant figured that avoiding all higher-leveled senshi was a wise idea, regardless of silly powers.

“’I know,’” she repeated with an amused smile. “How confident, but that’s good. Leaders need confidence.” How else would they be able to command respect or to trust their decisions, often vital and with little room for disaster? The thought of having such troublesome pressure saddled onto her shoulders did not bode well with Fukalite. Perhaps—though at the moment it seemed very unlikely—she would gain an interest for being promoted herself, but for now she was satisfied with being a lowly grunt that only needed to train and collect energy, with no other major responsibilities tacked on. “I’m absolutely touched that I’ve made such an indelible impression on you.” She smirked, but her eyes were bright with sincere happiness.

“Well, I’ll admit that if I had to join anybody’s team I would certainly prefer to be on yours,” she noted as she slowly trailed behind Labryinthite. Briefly, Fukalite closed her eyes and crossed her arms as she envisioned the situation. “Almost like old times. You’ll be a captain and I’ll still be a lieutenant. You’ll be higher up on the hierarchy and I’d have to follow your orders. Not like that would change our relationship. I certainly wouldn’t let it.”

“If you wanted, but right now you don’t, and that’s that,” Fukalite stated matter-of-factly. Then she curiously eyed the other lieutenant. “And what would have to change?”

"You know me," he replied offering a grin as he raised his hands up in the air like it was no big deal. "Where would I be without my confidence? Probably behind some desk doing some task my father assigned me," he mumbled, expression darkening visibly. It was no matter that only a few weeks ago, a month at max, he had been at the mercy of his father. Bound by duty and the cost of a favor from the businessman to do whatever the man wanted. It wasn't something he'd really mention or talk about anyway.

Somethings were better left unspoken.

"Good," he retorted his usual smirk returning to his lips. "I wouldn't have it any other way," he told her as she began to dissect their relationship. "Come on Ha-" he barely caught himself before he used her civilian name. "Fukalite," he said slowly, carefully. He didn't want to slip up again. "I've always kinda been giving you orders, you're just not afraid to put me in place when I'm over the top," he reminded slinging an arm across her shoulders.

"What? Why my mischievous civilian habits," he replied waving his free hand about like it was obvious. "Can't really over expend myself y'know? Gotta focus more on one thing."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:34 pm

“Where would you be, indeed,” she echoed with a grin that mirrored his own, but it quickly melted away as Labryinthite mentioned his father. Labryinthite wasn’t on good terms with his father, Fukalite knew that much. He preferred not to divulge about his relationship with him that often, and she was okay with that. Maintaining a friendship did not necessarily mean telling each other secrets or confessing about their life problems. Some things were meant to remain a secret.

She smiled playfully as she wagged her finger at him. “Tsk, tsk, Labyrinthite. Weren’t you the one saying not to use civilian names just a few minutes ago? What a forgetful lieutenant!” Fukalite joked in a sing-song voice. “Are you insinuating that I like to follow you?” She laughed as she mimicked his actions and wrapped an arm around his shoulder as well. “Well, not like I usually have a problem with your orders, so I’ll let this pass just this once.”

“What? But I love your mischievous civilian habits. They’re endearing.” Fukalite dramatically pouted, her bottom lip jutting out as she threw him a wide-eyed puppy stare.

That was the nice thing about his relationship with Hayden, they were close enough that they could share pretty much anything with each other but neither felt obligated to do so. They, more or less, had a don't ask don't tell policy. If either wanted the other to know something, then they would tell them that or casually bring the subject up for conversation. If not, then the subject would be dropped and they would move on to the next one. It was certainly the kind of relationship he preferred when it came to friends.

"Yeah, yeah. I know," he responded tossing his hands up in an, "I give" sort of gesture. "Maybe," he laughed as they walked forward. "But hey, at least I'm not the whip cracking sort of bossy busy body," he joked. When she threw him that puppy dog look he frowned, pulling away from her slightly. "Hey! No fair, you don't get to use that move with me!" He scolded playfully trying to sternly shake his head at her.

"They're definitely an enjoyable part to me but I've got to cut back a little don't you think? Gotta a bigger picture to look at now."
