The leather-bound book has definitely seen better days; the cover scuffed and marred, scratches and bent corners abound. It's a tough little trooper of a book, however, refusing to give in to the abuse it's obviously been put through, valiantly holding itself together. Inside, the text is written in a haphazard scrawl, the margins filled with childish-looking doodles and jotted notes. Some pages hold stains, and others cling to the breadcrumbs they have gathered. The book is left out in the open, unguarded and unhidden.

A Sleepy Irasa

User Image

Name: Irasa, a.k.a. "Ira" (( EE-RAH-suh ))
Age: 15 turns
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: Fisher ( Apprentice )
Other/Talents:
- Talking with her mouthful and still being (somewhat) understandable
- Can Mend Nets. They won't be nearly as durable, but they'll work. (( She's still working on her technique ))
- Getting out of trouble with a grin and a biscuit.

Physical Description:
Ira is tall and willowy in build, her arms and legs muscled from towing in the nets and wrestling with the sails of the boat and her hands calloused from the constant work with the ropes. Her skin is a light golden brown, tanned from the sunlight and freckled lightly. The sun has also touched her short mop of auburn hair, streaking it with gilted highlights. The girl looks like an oversized, 5'7" tall child with her large, ash-grey eyes, be-freckled ruddy cheeks, and a gap between her two front teeth. The bottoms and sides of Irasa's feet are riddled with scars and some small nicks and cuts due to her habit of running around barefoot.

Her usual dress consists of loose pants, a simple brown cincher, and a rather plain whiteish shirt, her feet bare as the day she was born more often than not. Most of her clothes are stained, scruffed, ripped, or patched and are usually oversized. She dresses for function and comfort, plain and simple.

Personality: Irasa is an investigator; an inquisitive and curious soul who must have answers to every question she comes across. This, paired with her taste for adventure and excitement have led her to some pretty funny predicaments. ( You have no idea how many times that girl got stuck in trees trying to look at something. ) She tends to be very to-the-point, not bothering with the "social frills". While she is polite most of the time, she does have some bad habits, like stuffing her cheeks like a chipmunk and then proceeding to speak with her mouth full. She can come off as a bit abrasive, but she doesn't mean ill by it. As long as she remembers her pleases and thank yous, she figures all is good.

Ira is a lover of all things edible. Seriously, this girl is a bottomless pit. She's at her happiest when her cheeks are stuffed with nice, warm cheesy-biscuits or bread. It's a rare instance in which the girl doesn't have some form of food on her or within arm's reach. She'll share her food, though; food equals joy and joy should be shared. She has no qualms about offering a complete stranger a biscuit or a cookie.

She's also an old friend with trouble; she gets into it often enough. Whenever she's in a sticky situation, she has a habit of giving a cheesy grin. Yes, because that will keep her from getting into trouble. Because a huge grin and a biscuit will solve all problems as far as she's concerned. Whether this actually works or not is a completely different matter. When smiles and food-sharing don't solve a conflict, she'll usually try to talk herself out of trouble. But, if all else fails, she's going to run like hell.

When in comes to interacting with others, Ira has a tendency to "claim" people as friends. By claim, we mean that the other person has no choice in the matter. Once you're a friend, you're stuck as a friend, whether you like it or not. Doesn't matter if you despise her; she'll still go out of her way to say hi and offer you a biscuit. The good thing about having her as a friend is that she's loyal and always there for you. The bad news about having her as a friend? She's always there for you, even if you don't want her to be. She has a problem with understanding and recieving the "Leave me alone" and "Go away!" vibes....either that or she chooses to ignore them.

When it comes to romance and mushy-gushy stuff, Irasa just doesn't see the point. What good is there in all that lovey-dovey, huggy-kissy stuff, anyhow? It's not that she has anything against it, she just doesn't understand it. She's never really been much of the romantic, and usually doesn't look at boys that way. Not that she won't; its just none have caught her eye or her interest yet.

All in all, Irasa is still very much a child at heart. She's impulisve and inquisitive, and has an unsatiable urge to get into every little nook and cranny she can find to explore.

History: Irasa was born and raised by the seaside. Her mother was a baker, and her father was a fisher. She was the second child born to her family, much to the dismay of her older brother, who had wanted a little brother. And he was determined to have one, too. Her brother, Rhynel, took it upon himself to raise his little sibling in all things boyish and awesome. Irasa's early childhood was spent trailing after her brother, learning the joys of getting dirty, rough-housing, and getting into mischief. It wasn't much of a surprise that the two were mistaken for brother by those who didn't know them well; Ira certainly looked the part. The two were nearly inseparable. Irasa adored her brother, and still does to this day. But, as with all good things, there was an end in sight. The once-dynamic duo were growing apart; he was dealing with a cracking voice and she with her new-grown curvy-bits (( Much to Rhynel's dismay; his "younger brother" could no longer pass off as a brother. )) The two are still quite close, but no where near the level of harmony they had as small children.

It was from her mother that Ira gained her love of foods; especially biscuits. When she wasn't getting into play tussles outside with her brother or performing chores, the girl could be found in the kitchen, watching and learning from her mother, each loaf of bread and batch of biscuits a soft-spoken, flour-covered lesson. Sadly, her mother's lessons on "don't talk with your mouth full" and "don't stuff your cheeks" didn't take root, but many of the other lessons on friendliness, helpfulness, and the importance of food did. Irasa loved all the fresh baked goods; nothing made her happier than the scent of fresh-baked biscuits and bubbly pies. There for a bit, she thought she wanted to be a baker. And then her father took her out on a boat for the first time.

It was this first trip out on the water in which Irasa fell in love with the sea and, by association, fishing. The sun, the smell of the sea, the seemingly endless expanse of water mirrored by the sky...all of this was simply amazing in the girl's eyes. After what seemed like an eternity to Ira, she was finally apprenticed out to become a fisher. The young apprentice to took the trade enthusiastically, and still works with the same enthusiasm. She'd love nothing more than to take the boat and a bag of biscuits out on the water and spend the day fishing, and if it weren't for her lessons and chores, she'd do just that.

Recently, Ira came across four flit eggs while out on the beach, exploring the docks. She had had every intention of splitting the eggs between her and her brother, and was on her way to take them over to divvy them up when it happened: they hatched. And guess who had a bag full of tempting food, as per her norm? Now, Ira finds herself the owner and caretaker of four young flits. (( Rhynel is still not happy. He wanted one! )) She loves her little dears to bits, but she had no idea they could cause so much trouble!

Starboard: Starboard is the sexiest flit this side of the Hold, and you better believe it! This little blue flit has an ego the size of a Gold; he is the awesomest, bravest, handsomest, studliest little firelizard you're going to meet as far as he's concerned.

Knots: Knots is far from being the smartest of flits. This little blue is dopey, but genuinely a sweetheart. Knots got his name because of his love of, if you couldn't guess, knots. He loves gnawing and chewing through knots. Sadly, this leads to ruined shoelaces, nets, and anything tied. Oh dear.

Shanty:: Shanty is a very vocal little guy. He sees something interesting? Expect a loud trill to get your attention as well. Got scared? Brace your eardrums for impact. Even in his sleep, the little guy makes small chirps and soft trills and hums. There's never a quiet moment around this one.

Portbow: Portbow is the adventurous of the four little blues. He has to get into everything and everywhere he can fit. His curiosity is insatiable. That bag your carrying? Expect him to try and climb inside. That wagon passing by? He so has to check it out! Port has the attention span of a gnat, and quite often runs off to explore and inspect something new.

Rhynel: He's my big brother! We're really close. Not as close as we used to be, but close enough. He has all sorts of good advice and stuff! Yeah, we get into trouble from time to time, but hey; what are siblings for?
