Ever hadn't really planned on going out tonight. He'd grabbed enough books on his way out of the library to entertain himself for a full weekend, on top of an encoded journal that he still had yet to fully crack. Barely through the door, though, and a look at his roommate, and he'd abandoned everything under his pile of blankets and bed and had, instead, stammered an excuse and got out. Anywhere. It didn't matter.

His path took him through the park, wallet cracked to make sure he had enough cash in there to get well and thoroughly smashed. More than familiar with this route, his feet lead instead of his mind, and he walked straight past the occupied bench before his thoughts caught up. He'd recognized that tousled shape, something about the shape of the young man's face, and it drew him up short a few steps away, blinking to himself.

Another moment before he turned back, moving carefully to squint down at Sedna, head tipped slightly to one side. "...hey. I know you?"

Sedna didn't know when he had fallen asleep. But it definitely wasn't the first or last time he'd done this-- ordinarily, the dangers of sleeping on a bench was high, like stealing one's money or wallet. But Sedna didn't have any money in his wallet. If one took the time to check his pockets, they'd find a purposely cheap wallet, made of masking tape. (Don't diss the tape, it's useful.)

He awoke to a familiar voice, his eyes lethargically opening with reluctance. One eye opened, taking in the figure that leaned over him slowly .. and the cloudiness in his eyes soon faded into recognition. Male .. Light blue hair. His brain systematically worked through the thin list of males fitting that description .. excluding himself, there was only one guy he knew. Sedna wasn't quite sure what hour it was but he felt like morning was the only time of the day he knew instinctively. The rest was just hazy because he spent odd hours doing this and that.

Sedna jerked his upper half of his body upwards, hands reaching out to stretch his muscles from the cramped bench space. If there was one good thing about the bench-crashing male, it was his memory for remembering customers and strangers alike. "Yo, Ever. I haven't seen you around lately-- What, you just passing by or did you need another job or something?"

"Uh. I have a job, actually." A pause, and then Ever winced at how that sounded -- twisting in place a little to look back over his shoulder, and trying to sift through his own memory for the other man's name. They'd met before; he had a rather distinctive memory of grumbling and retreating to find somewhere else to hole up for the night. Not hard feelings, not exactly. You could hardly lay claim to a specific location. First come first serve...

The moment passed without a name surfacing, his eyes flicking back down to Sidna. It was warm at least, better than the biting cold of dealing with the winter, bundling up in layers and layers of battered clothing that simply did not do the job. Spending the night on a pank bench probably wouldn't hurt anyone, but on the other time...

"Was going to get drinks, I think." That could have been casual, or dismissive. Instead, the words hung up on Ever's tongue, he floundered with how exactly to get an offer out. He was bad at charity, dancing on unfamiliar terrain, and it made Ever uncomfortable. One last check of bills in his wallet before he tucked it away. "Uh. Want to come?"

Sedna admired people who stood on their own and refused charity but he also thought those people as stubborn idiots. Why not take a little bit of help when you needed it? On this particular night, Sedna would have glady taken it.

"Only if you have money. I'm too broke to go home and I really didn't want to walk home this late. You sure you want to spend it on a bro like me?" Sedna asked, scratching the back of his head. His light blue hair always looked tousled and this was no different, his eyes staring almost blankly ahead. Was he in suitable clothes? He guessed he was if Ever asked him to. He counted himself lucky that he wasn't a girl because the process of cleaning up as a girl included a variety of things that he wasn't sure how they could afford. Make-up, lotion and all that sephora victoria things.

Did every girl somehow inherit fortunes?

Ever wasn't much better off, himself: his hair tousled and too-long, about now, desperately in need of a chop. His clothes held together, but there were tears in the knees of his jeans, at the hemline of his shirt. He, at least, hadn't been inheriting any fortunes, just a low-paying job that he didn't mind working and a free place to stay. It made him charitable, apparently. Or at least, it made him charitable tonight, when he didn't want to go home and he kind of didn't want to be alone either...

With a hum, he shrugged at Sedna, hands shoved into his pockets and posture shifting just a little bit. "I've got like thirty bucks, it's cool if we go somewhere cheap, right?"
PostPosted: Fri Jul 22, 2011 3:39 am

"Lead the way man. Anyplace is fine with me! Well, anyplace that doesn't involveus getting mugged in a back alley. Although that mugger miiiiight think we're pretty pathetic." Sedna laughed, scratching the back of his head sheepishly. The thirty bucks Ever had was thirty more than Sedna had. Sedna stood up from the bench, his legs unfolding from their previous sleeping position.

"So, Ever my man, tell me, what place have you got in mind?" Sedna asked, running one hand through his teal-tinted hair. It was a rather unspoken thing, about how males did little to pry into each other's business. Naturally, they weren't girls, feeling a need to describe details over a long phone conversation-- If Sedna had a long phone conversation, it'd run up his bill. So no long conversations for him.

Until recently, Ever hadn't even bothered with a phone; even now, it mostly sat as a dead weight in his pocket, frequently discharged or forgotten under a pile of blankets in his apartment. He wasn't used to the technology, wasn't familiar enough to be comfortable using it. It made him feel grumpy and old.

"McDonald's is probably not the best, so, uh." He shot Sedna a look, raised an eyebrow, trying to figure out how far thirty dollars in cash would get him. "s**t. I was going to just spend it on booze, but we could do Chinese or something, instead? It's too hot to be outside, anyway, find somewhere with AC and we could sit and eat..."

A so-so gesture before he shoved hands into his pockets.

"If you're going to spend it on booze, just stick with the booze. Why don't you just lead to a cheap bar? Or wherever you were headed. After all, liquor is the fountain of youth!" Sedna gestured towards the general direction Ever had been walking in, lifting his chin as a breeze flew past them. A rare summer breeze .. When could the weather ever be prefect for bench-sleeping? It always seemed a little too hot or a little too cold.

This was definitely within the warmer range. Sedna lifted the collar of his shirt, in an attempt to cool down as he walked alongside Ever.

"So, where were you planning to head, dude?"

"Probably not exactly your cup of tea, to be honest." He flashed a smile at that, one corner of his mouth more raised than the other, and flicked a sideways look down to Sedna. Thinking fast, he adjusted direction to take the young man down another path, away toward the university district as opposed to cheap food, take out, fast service...

"We can go to a bar near DCU, I guess. They usually have pitchers, if you're into that, or cheap drinks. Better if you've got a student ID..." But, his posture said, what could either of them do about that? He shrugged a little bit. "Little bit closer, too, and maybe you can meet up with someone..."

"Do you mean meet up as in Hey bro, or meet up as in, makeing out and getting lucky with a girl?" Sedna asked, giving Ever a chuckle ... "I guess that depends if this is a quiet-Ill-relax kind of bar or meet-someone-for-the-night kind of bar. Either works."

Not like you needed money to take a girl out, Sedna reflected. Bars were good for that kind of thing.

"I was thinking more like someone who'd take a look at those big eyes and take you home to sleep on a couch." Ever grinned back at him, relatively easy, not too concerned, and gestured up toward his own face in demonstration. Probably a bad example. His eyes were neither big nor pitiable, and his expression was definitely not innocent enough to get away with that sort of play.

"But whatever floats your boat, right?"
PostPosted: Thu Dec 01, 2011 1:34 am

"Everything floats my boat. That's how it is with us bench crashers. Sorry, we dont have a choice-- unless you prefer a brown bench over a green one." Sedna pointed out between laughter, his hand on his stomach to try make the laughing pains in his stomach subside as Ever's imitation of a puppy-eyed expression.

Man, Sedna remembered why he liked the male's company. He had no doubt they would have a better time at the bar, whatever they went to. They were going to have a great night~ Hopefully, pick up a girl or two (a nice one) and spend the night somewhere other than a bench.

Until they met up in a similar fashion once again.
