Within the shadows, there are things no one can understand. But what of those who try to? Is enlightenment the answer? Or insanity?

It was dark and a fine mist had made its way upon the ground. Hooves pounded the ground with malice kicking up the dirt and grass. Blue hair flowed against orange striped fur, red eyes scanning her environment. There wasn't a soul about her and the world was eerily silent. The wind gently brushed against her and her hair. Kainda wasn't really looking for company, but she was looking for some sort of life. The shadows were alluring, but she knew there was something within them...

The Phantom stood in the mist, as often he did. He loved to lurk in the dark woods and only ventured out when mist and fog were his companions. His hoof steps were light, he knew his way around without even thinking. He saw the mare and smirked New prey for me? I have not had a good time for many a week he thought to himself as he watched her from behind. He let a soft whinny out, trying to spook her he moved quickly and quietly away from the spot he had been standing. The fog over took the mare, allowing the Phantom to move close to her without her really knowing.

Nostrils flared as the mist began to rise. There was a form about as she heard the whinny of another Azrein. Her ears perked and swiveled and flicked trying to catch his movements. She was on guard now, her body braced for whatever would hit her. Kainda concentrated on her surroundings as she moved around slowly. The mist began to swirl as something moved around it. "Come on!" She found herself yelling. "Come out and face me like you got some!" The mare was in no mood for games, and if whoever or whatever it was came out now, she'd be less likly to gore and ask questions later.

The Phantom let out a malicious laugh and stepped out of the fog, right in front of the mare. He said nothing but stood, proud but ready for a fight. He could feel the anger seething in her veins and he wanted a fight. He stared at the mare, what odd colours she had.

Her eyes widened at the sudden appearance of the huge stallion. He had some sort of cloak over his form much like some of the royal horses, but by the half mask on his face and the malice in his eyes, he was no horse of the court. Se couldn't help but snort her distaste, nostrils flaring all the while. The mare stood her ground, horn poised toward him. "Make any sudden moves and you're done!" Kainda warned, jumping off her front hooves then stamping down hard as if to reiterate her point. She was in no mood to play with this stranger. "Who are you?!"

The Phantom laughed, though instead of chiding it seemed kind, as if he were taking pity on her. "Oh young child you know little, and yet you demand me to declare myself. Alright I will play along, you may call me Phantom" he replied, his voice both full of hatred and soothing at the same time. His ice blue eyes studied the mare's own form and a slight smile spread across his face. He moved slightly, hiding the half mask as he noticed her glacing at it. He hated when attention was drawn to it and hated questions about it even more.

Who was this idiot anyway? And of course she was making demands of him. What kind of freak would wander around and scare others? Her nostrils flared aggressively as she snorted. "All I know is that you're really starting to make me angry." Her teeth clenched, body tensed up as he came forward. "Phantom? Must be named for that mask of yours. No wonder you stay out here by yourself..." A sick smirk spread across her face as she slowly came forward. "I bet no one can dare look at you with that thing..." Of course she was messing with him, biting of more than she could chew probably, but it didn't matter to her. Mind games were her specialty.

The Phantom's nostril's flared, as she obviously hit a sore point. But he quickly recovered and snorted in her face "You really don't know who you're talking to do you?" he said emphatically before he started to walk around her. He looked her over, noticed her muscles and possibilities of weak spots. Suddenly he tensed up, immediately in a fighting stance "You're on my land, this is my territory" he spoke calmly but hatred dripped from every word.

Kainda gave a bit of a smirk, her ears perked forward and eyes gleaming with pride. She was hitting something within him, something dark and sinister. Her tail flicked as she noticed him striding around her. She tensed up, but seduction dripped off her tongue. "See something you like, Phantom?" His name came out as a playful hiss. "Your territory? I see no signs and smell no scent markers." Kainda began to move around slowly counter-pacing him.

"There is always something I like when I see a mare" he quipped back. He smiled and stopped moving, trying to see her figure better. The fog whipped through their hooves and up against their chests as they moved. "Then you have obviously missed them. My scent is all around here, beside the fog being the most obvious sign. Besides, you should not question me, I am a stallion of my word" his voice was no longer angry but sultry and seductive.

"Your scent must be nothing then." She commented noticing his eyes and his defensive posture turn into one of more seductive tones. She smirked a little moving in order for him to see her full body whenever he could. His eyes were hungry it seemed. "Most stallions claim they are of their word, but they think with their feral halves..." Her nostrils flared as she still tried to catch his scent. It wasn't strong, but it was there. And the fog seemed to be strong around him. Her ears flicked a little, hair brushing against her face and neck. "Kainda. My name is Kainda. The mare stated suddenly coming to face him now.

The Phantom smirked slightly. "I like to mark, but those not paying close enough attention will answer to me" he replied. "You have not met a stallion like me" he added and swished his tail as he shook his head and neck, resetting his mane. He bowed slightly to her, the white mask glistening with dew "It is nice to meet you Kainda" he said in his deep voice, the sound of harshness almost completely gone.

Maybe they don't care? Kainda challenged giving a gentle smirk. Her dark eyes glanced over his frame. "You got that right. Moody, dark, slightly handsome and he's got a chip on his shoulder. Her tail flicked idly slapping against her legs. However, Kainda held no malice. She was playing with him now, toying with him a little. As he bowed, she suddenly came down toward his level nudging her nose against his with a grin. "Pleasure is all mine, Phantom." The mare raised up only to have her side brush up against his - the side without the cape. "You've been on your own a long time, huh?"

The Phantom's nostrils flared as he felt the mare's face against his. He let out a soft sigh, this was the first contact with another in a long time. His eyes seemed to close, but only for a few short seconds. At the question he snorted slightly and regained control. "It has been a long time" he responded coldly. The fog lapped at his feet as he swished his dark tail across his hindquarters.
