The Eternal Senshi of Danger had not really figured out his new form. For one, that sense of just knowing his new attack hadn't hit him yet. For one reason or another, he wasn't sure what power had come to him, besides his raw boost in strength and fighting ability. The magic side of things were a mystery.

At least he could still use his other attacks, but he found that he had even less control of them now then ever before. Even his Super attack, which he had grown to be able to control with his previous power level and skill, was back to doing mostly what it wanted.

Which he had learned the hard way.

He had been lucky enough to find three youma all huddling together, and had leaped into a battle with them. They turned out to be surprisingly strong, but he managed to dust one by calling his attack and using the energy that poured into his muscles to punch its face in. However, when the energy expelled as it always did, the earth split open like a large, but isolated earthquake had torn through the area. Usually he could direct where the largest crack headed, but tonight there wasn't one: the whole area was shaken and damages. Chaonis found himself in a hole opened up by the earthquake, with a heavy lamp post across his back.

He dug out his phone and called the first senshi he could hit at random, sending out a distress signal. The two youma hadn't been so unlucky, and were looming over him.

Sailor Pasiphae ran as fast as she could, maroon eyes looking around each area she passed in search of the Senshi who had sent her a distress signal. As soon as she heard the unfamiliar shrieking sound she had torn out of the library, leaving the book behind on the table. When she saw Chaonis's name attached to it, she had henshined up as soon as she reached a secluded alley and run even faster, her heart leaping into her throat. Chaonis had been the first Senshi to reach out to her, and she wasn't going to let him down if she could help it.

She wasn't sure where to go until she felt a minor earthquake--if that didn't scream a youma battle, she didn't know what did. When Pasiphe reached the area it didn't take her long to guess where Chaonis had gone; in a large, destroyed area, two youma were both standing in one particular spot. With no other people around to draw the monsters' attention, she could only assume that her fellow Senshi was somewhere near, even if she couldn't see him.

Her mind raced as she tried to come up with a plan to draw the youma away. Chaonis might be winded and unable to escape or, worse, actually hurt. If she could get the youma way... maybe it would give him a better chance. The teeanger grabbed some of the rubble that surrounded the large crack of earth, chunking large pieces until four gleaming eyes looked back at her. With their attention captured, she then called upon her shield... and hoped that her efforts would be enough, "Pasiphae Shameful Isolation!"

Chaonis really hated being trapped under things. Particularly when it was his own fault. This had happened a lot when he was just getting used to things, first when he had become a senshi and again when he had upgraded to super and made a few dumb choices. Those he had accepted as inevitable parts of being a badass fighter.

This was a little more embarrassing. He had been in control, he had mastered these attacks. Yet here he was, stuck under a building, because he had not been able to control his own power.

Again.

That sucked.

He was not a newbie, and he did not feeling like he was failing in the trappings of one. He was supposed to be training people, keeping his fellow senshi alive and making sure they knew how to do the same for themselves. How was he supposed to do that when he managed to nearly get himself killed by a stupid mistake? And calling out for help?

He would never live this down.

He heard a voice and an attack get called, then saw the youma start acting strange. While that was happening, he struggled to get himself free of the wreckage on top of him. It wasn't too heavy, he was just in a bad position and pinned so he could not get it off without help.

"Hey! Pasiphae! Over here," he called, though he sounded oddly grumpy about it.

Pasiphae winced as the two youma came charging towards her, hating having to handle them alone. They appeared to be some kind of simian avian mix, long feathered tails, scaled legs, and sharp beaks juxtaposed with thick fur coating their arms and long fingers as well as sharp, intelligent eyes. It took them almost no time to reach her and begin pummeling her shield, but over the sounds of their chittering wails, she could hear Chaonis calling to her from a distance. "Hang on... I'm coming!"

With two youma attacking the shield, it fell much quicker than normal, much to the Senshi's distress. Almost as soon as it fell, Pasiphae rushed forward. She was able to fully avoid one of the snapping beaks, but the other reached her, lashing at her back. Luckily, the youma only ripped off her back bow--the force threw her into the ground, but aside from scrapes and bruises, no serious harm done. Pasiphae got to her feet as quickly as possible and made a dash for the large hole that contained her fellow Senshi.

She wasn't sure how much she could do before the two youma came, but she struggled to lift the wreckage so that Chaonis could be free. The added strength from henshin-ing helped, but really it was more a matter of whether she could work quickly enough. All of her self doubts flooded through her, but more important was the overriding sense that she had to do something to help the fellow Senshi in distress. That was the most important thing at the moment.

Chaonis could half see her getting attacked by the youma, and struggled harder to get himself free. It wasn't helping, and he was feeling drained of his energy from just using his attack to begin with. It was a tough spot, and he had never been in one quite like it before.

He didn't like feeling helpless.

It was a strange idea, and the Senshi of Danger found it much different to the thrill of danger he claimed to be the master of. Fear was not the same as that tight anticipation in his chest, that eagerness for more. He didn't want this to continue for a second longer.

He needed more control.

As she aided him in getting the rubble off, he pulled himself free and got to his feet immediately. He didn't feel anything broken or hurt, or maybe he was just flying on adrenaline. There was no time to thank her or gloat that his training was totally why she had managed to get by those youma. Those very youma weren't happy, and wheeled around to attack the two senshi.

"Let's take these assholes," Chaonis growled, fully focused, no jokes escaping him now. He was all business: these youma had embarrassed him, and he was going to get some face back. Prove to himself that this new power up meant something.

He charged but the youma seemed to fight as a unit. One ducked low and slammed into his legs while the other timed a perfect, heavy swing that slammed into Chaonis' jaw and sent him sprawling to the side. While he was getting to his feet, the youma leaped at Pasiphae in unison, one going low and the other high.

Pasiphae breathed a sigh of relief whenever Chaonis was finally freed, and while she noted a change in his attire, she had no time to stop and take in too much detail. Not when there were still two youma on hand that needed to be stopped. She had a chance to see her fighting mentor dive straight into the action... and just as quickly get doubleteamed by the monkeybird youma that they were fighting. After that, it was mere moments before they leapt to attack her.

There was too little time to call her shield, so Pasiphae instinctively ducked the hit from the youma coming in high, but this only set her up to be kicked in the chest by the second youma coming in low. She flew back and hit the ground with an undignified oomph, all of the air escaping her and leaving her momentarily breathless. The teenager took a ragged, burning breath at last and struggled back to her feet, spitting out a rough suggestion to her partner in the meantime, "Split them up? One a piece?"

The Eternal Senshi of Danger was very tired of getting his butt handed to him, and struggling like some newbie. He was supposed to be better than this. And more than that, more than his wounded pride and his idea of himself, he was supposed to be someone other people could rely on.

Suddenly, he had responsibility beyond himself.

It was everything he had ever fought to avoid. Never make anything of himself, lest people start believing in him and, worse yet, expecting things of him. it was a weight he spent most of his teenage years building a reputation and a life style perfectly designed to avoid. Yet now he had started willingly, of his own design and determination, giving himself to an idea. giving himself to a fight, a goal.

If he was going to train other senshi, and offer his services to them when they needed muscle, he needed to be damn sure he could keep them alive. Damn sure he was strong enough to back up his claims. He was not bullshitting: this was his life now. This was the one thing he could be loyal to, and dedicate himself to serve.

he was not going to ******** it up now.

"Pasiphae!" He called, getting to his feet and running to aid her. He grabbed a youma just before it leaped on her as she was getting to her feet, throwing it back with all his might. It slammed into the second youma and the two were tangled for a moment. Chaonis looked at his senshi companion, but shook his head.

"Both at once, both of us together," he said, effectively offering teamwork over rushing in and taking all the glory for himself as he might have done, and indeed was still compelled to do. "One goes high, the other low. I'll give it a target and go high, you get Captain Low."

Even as they were talking, the two youma were charing again. Chaonis turned to anticipate them this time, catching the first youma as it moved to punch him again and jumping to avoid the second, leaving it open for Pasiphae.

Pasiphae saw her attacker too late, and if not for Chaonis's swift intervention, she would have suffered a direct hit. She listened to her companion, but her eyes remained on the two youma who were, momentarily, indisposed. Together. For some reason, having that impetus spoken aloud spurred the less experienced Senshi along more than even her own desire. Pasiphae nodded to show that she had understood, but Chaonis leapt away before she knew if he saw her consenting motion.

With no better plan immediately coming to mind, Pasiphae simply tackled the low-striking monkey-bird that was left for her. She threw all her weight into the strike, pinning the youma as best she could. The youma screeched directly into her ear as it tried to claw its way to freedom. She began to panic, afraid that it would slip away from her grasp. But that would mean it would attack Chaonis... and she couldn't allow that. She wouldn't allow that! She dug her gloved hands into the youma's face, curling her fingers tightly around its fur and clinging with all her might. She called out for Chaonis, "I can't hit it like this... but I'll hold it, as long as I can... finish the other one off!"

"Don't get yourself hurt!" Chaonis yelled back, sounding, at least in the middle of all the chaos, that he actually cared for once. It was true, of course: he did have the capacity to make friends or acquaintances and actually care about their safety. He did not want any of the senshi stored in his phone, any of the ones he had met and trained or even just bothered, to get hurt.

Especially not on his watch. Or worse, on his account.

He fell backwards after his jump, clinging to the arms of the youma. Chaonis landed on his back with the thing on top of him, Pasiphae in a similar but opposite position not too far from him. He had to struggle with it before he got it turned over, slamming his fist into its face time and time again until it first stopped fighting back, then stopped defending itself and finally stopped being a solid mass. It burst into dust and, though he was tired and his fist was sore, Chaonis dragged himself to his feet and looked over to the senshi helping him.

He ran over to help her, hoping it hadn't been able to get free or hurt her.

Sailor Pasiphae had never thought that she would be engaged in a kind of youma rodeo, but her current position was nothing less than trying to keep a hold on a bucking bronco of a youma. She clung on tight, rolling around with the creature in order to keep it seperated from the battle going on not too far away. It was chaotic, confused, but the glimpses she did see indicated that the plan was working. Undistracted by the second youma... Chaonis was winning.

The youma slipped free from her grip, desperately trying to reach its partner before Chaonis could finish his assault. Pasiphae grabbed onto its legs and yanked with all her might, dragging the creature down with another painful screech. It earned her a kick to the chest as a result, but she grit her teeth and held on for a few seconds more, until her Eternal powered companion beat his opponent into dust. Then, her fingers just gave way as another blow came, this time to her stomach, and she was thrown back into the dirt. She was not seriously hurt, though she had small scrapes on the bare parts of her arms and legs, but she wasn't concerned about that. She was worried about her battle partner and croaked out a quick warning, "Look out..."

He heard her call for him to be safe, and it only fueled his anger and determination. He had seen her getting punched and kicked, and that was more than enough. Everything else was just more kindling on an open flame.

It occurred to him that he was being serious. That he was being dedicated. He was being responsible. But he didn't care: at the moment he had a job to finish and a friend in danger, all because he had gotten himself in trouble. He called her here, and now she was getting hurt.

That was not going to go unpunished.

As the youma turned to avenge its fallen companion, Chaonis turned to aid his kicked and punched trainee. He slammed his fist forward so hard he felt teeth giving way and the sudden damp warmth of the inside of a mouth.

Gross.

But effective.

The youma had very little choice but to burst into dust, leaving Chaonis catching his breath for a moment. He had cut his hand a bit on jagged piece of teeth, but he moved to Pasiphae to see if she had been hurt more than he had been able to see.

"Are you alright?" he asked, sounding tired, vaguely angry, but also with a surprising amount of concern.

The Shame Senshi had managed to raise herself up to her forearms just in time to see her fellow Senshi dust the second youma. She gave a sigh of relief, momentarily lowering herself to regather her strength. Good... at least the threat was gone. The next sound she heard was the slight crunch of Chaonis's footsteps coming closer, followed by a question.

"Yeah, I'll be alright. Nothing... too bad," Pasiphae gasped out, taking no offense at at Chaonis's somewhat harsh tone. It was perfectly reasonable, given the situation he had just lived through. She got slowly, but steadily, to her feet, wincing as she pressed against her stomach and chest. "I'll definitely have two large bruises and a wide assortment of scraps but... I don't think I'm seriously injured."

Then, with a shot of wry humor, she added, "Sorry you ended up having to save me again... at least you have the wings for guardian angel duty this time?" She indicated the new adornments from his eternal form which, until now, she hadn't really had a full chance to appreciate.

He watched her as she got up, noting her wince and scowling. It looked like he might be mad at her for being injured, but the truth was hidden under the expression. He was worried she had been hurt at all, and he did not know how to deal with that worry very well.

He imagined they would both be wearing some ugly bruises from all of this.

"I didn't save you," he said, shaking his head dismissively, grunting, "I needed help and so did you. That's what partners, or team mates, or whatever you call senshi do, right?" It was also what friends did: they helped one another. He looked at her for a long moment, his grumpiness fading now that it settled that they had won. He would survive his embarrassment.

When she pointed at his wings he grinned at her, still proud despite having gotten in trouble essentially because of them. New power was harder to control than he had estimated.

"I think the angel part might be a bit of a stretch."

The less experienced Senshi was a little off put by Chaonis's scowl, but when he spoke she realized that the emotion under it was anger not directed towards her but the situation in general. A shy smile appeared on her face, and she noded in agreement with his sentiments, "Yes. That's what Senshi do. I'm glad... to be of help."

"Well... maybe just a bit," Pasiphae agreed, her own smile deepening even as the Danger Senshi grinned. Now that the battle was over and the adrenaline was no longer pumping through her system, she was a little tired, which in turn made her a little more relaxed. That she was standing and talking with a familiar Senshi helped matters too, in that department.

Chaonis sighed, relaxing a bit. His pride was restored by talking about his new Eternal status, so he was placated from the whole thing. At least for now. Later, when he got home, he'd probably think about it again and get angry all over.

And Tony would have to take the brunt of it, probably, in the form of getting cussed out and Nate not coming out of his room.

Of course, that was usually the case, just with a different excuse and level of anger. Still, whatever. It made no difference to the teenage Darrow, at the very least. He wasn't even thinking about it. He never planned to make Tony miserable, he was just very good at it.

He shrugged his shoulders.

"Alright, I guess we should get back out there, or get home. I'm sore as hell, so... I think I'm going to call it a night, unless you want to patrol." He was at least upfront about that, his tone perfectly suited to his complaint. Whining. But to be fair, he had a rough night.
