After spending a day to sulk, Kira's self confidence had not gotten any better. In fact, she was even starting to feel a bit guilty for killing poor Desdemona. Those feelings were unbefitting for a Sniper let alone for a Kira. She decided that it was time to get rid of the Death Note. It was under these circumstances that she called for a meeting with Equinoxious. She seemed vaguely like a person who would like to be Kira, at least. Well, okay, this was a wild guess. More like a hunch, really.
Equinoxious agreed to meet with Kira at a quaint cafe and hear her out. As she listened, she put sugar cube after sugar cube into her coffee cup. She lamented about his failures as a sniper, and then as Kira. Equinoxious nodded, perhaps sympathetically.
"That's quite a story. May I see that notebook you had mentioned?"
Kira reached into her book bag and placed the Death Note on the table. "In fact, I was just about to offer it to you. For a small fee of course."
"What fee would that be?" Equinoxious questioned evenly, plucking up the Death Note and cracking it open. She read the rules on the side of the book with an equally unimpressed look.
"Well, it's got the power to kill anyone you want, after all. I won't settle for any less than ten thousand gold..."
"And is this your handwriting?" She had turned some pages, and pointed to the section that said, "Desdemona Winchcombe - dies of, I don't know, a brainfreeze or something."
"Yeah, but let's get back on topic-"
"- I assure you, this is very on topic. You see... I'm L."
Kira - otherwise known as Unknown R A I N B O W, went very still. And then, she let out a pathetic squeak. Equinoxious pushed a button on her belt to call her super cool butler.
"I'm taking this notebook, and you, into custody. The police will be here any minute."
Kira slumped over the table, completely defeated. The cops soon arrived to escort her and L from the premises... and that was that.
----
KIRA (#021 Unknown R A I N B O W) has handed the Death Note to L (#008 Equinoxious), thus ending the game! What are the odds?!
I hope everyone enjoyed the shortest Sniper Game ever.... eek

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
Erm, yes. Eyes here. The reason why there weren't any kills was because I never found out who Kira was. I did let Merlin in on it after the second announcement, but for the most part I didn't know who Kira was. I was hoping to run into them sometime soon, but... now it's too late. XD
My thoughts on the game? I do like the system. I think it would have made it a bit easier if Eyes and Kira had an idea who each other were, though. I outed myself to Merlin simply because I felt I needed to get the game rolling. So! I would have liked it if there was at least a hint as to get a team-up. But, it probably would have been "too easy" if I knew straight from the beginning. After all, it makes it a challenge if Eyes and Kira had to seek each other out. But, I did enjoy the system! I just wish I was able to do something with my role, you know?
So, it's partially my fault why there weren't any kills. Sorry about that. ^_^;

Actually Aine, there wouldn't have been any kills anyway. On the first day, Kira didn't respond to their PM, so I had to re-roll it. rofl
I had considered giving Kira and the shinigami immediate access to each other, as well as considering giving L and the NPA immediate access to each other, since that would have been closer to canon.
However I decided to go with the set of rules that would be more challenging, in order to facilitate more strategy and sneakiness. I was thinking the shinigami would be able to adopt a similar strategy as the news reporter usually does in getting information out. I figured that if there were two shinigami, it would be more fair to Kira that way.
Also, if Kira didn't know with certainty who the shinigami were, then maybe L could have *tricked* Kira into thinking they were the shinigami and ending the game via a death note transfer. Those kind of possibilities made me want to keep it difficult.
If I redid the game though, maybe I would give them contact. I could tell the system was a little confusing at first, but I was hoping it would have gotten used to and then the game would pick up and be really interesting.

Ah! So Merlin's theory was proven correct. Kira was just being inactive~ XD
I thought so. Having them not know each other would have made it more challenging. Plus, in canon Misa did have to figure out who Kira was, and she's a good candidate for the Eyes counterpart. It was just me thinking to myself, after all. I really wish this game lasted longer, though, so I can actually cause chaos. It's one of my favorite things to do in the SG when I get the chance, actually. But I haven't gotten many opportunities to do so. Heck, Merlin and I were thinking of ways to screw around with the fact that he knew who a NPA member was and the fact that I had the ability to know names.
I actually agree that it's a bit like a NR role, now that I think of it. Only evil and is technically a killer in an odd way. One idea I had was to ask you if you think making a Twitter account for the Eyes role would be okay, and if you OK'd it I'd basically broadcast the names out whenever I got them. I was going to ask you this round, but... Kira got busted. Which is a bummer. I'm not sure if it'd work, anyways. I was thinking of giftsniping it as well, but nobody would post names since they means PEOPLE DIE. And nobody wants that.
But yeah! As I said, I did like the system. I just wish that it could have lasted longer and I could have actually figured out a way to get the names to Kira, is all. So, maybe in the future we could toy around with this a bit more. I liked it, after all, and I'm sure others did. :3

Yes, I designed the Eyes role with Misa (and to an extent, Mikami) in mind. I actually tried my best to make the system match how things would work in canon. Of course Death Note is a canon that's loaded with mind games, so I wanted to make the gameplay such that it would require some social manipulation to win. If it hadn't ended so quickly, I'm sure we would have seen something like that.
Hm, I'm not sure what I would have said about using twitter, I am not very familiar with it. But I guess if it doesn't directly conflict with any other rules then it should technically be fine.
I would be ok with someone re-using my system if they would like. With a roster as small as this, you have pretty good odds of landing another role. rofl

Aww, that's a shame.
Very, very good setup though and I would have really enjoyed it, if it had lasted longer.
Part of me wishes L would become Kira after being handed the Death Note, just to keep the game running, but that wouldn't make sense in either canon or the game mechanics.
Either way though, good job from what I saw.

I must say, this was an interesting game. I find the mechanics a bit odd, but I never watched Death Note, so what do I know? I'd have liked, rather than an immediate link between Kira and the Eyes, some sort of clue, so as to get things started towards Kira finding the Eyes easier than hunt-and-pecking.
Also, Aine, I wasn't quite honest with you. I actually was the NWA member. Sorry about that. 3nodding
And as a final thought, it is rather humorous that my Round 1 pick became Kira. Even funnier, and slightly sad, that Kira passed the DN off right into L's hands.
Short game, sure, but most assuredly a great game to come back to.

Either way though, good job from what I saw. I agreed with you KeJoRo..... offered Equinoxious the rest of the day to choose to be Kira but since it was technically rulebending // she hadn't yet voted, I didn't want to make it much longer than that. So *shrug* @ Merlin; Maybe the shinigami should have been subject to giving L clues just like Kira? confused

Your local friendly NPA here.... All is well! Carry on! I'd like to see a similar game carried out in the future. Just to see how it'd play out once the game got further along 3nodding

It seems a lot of people are wishing the game would have lasted longer. If no one else wants to be GM, I could run a do-over of sorts?

You might as well, it's not like the rules currently matter anymore, so why bother following them? SPECIALLY if it will keep the guild from being a ghost town for another 3 weeks?? EDIT-- The sarcasm was not intended at your idea, I think it's a GREAT idea, like honestly.
