A long while ago, I can't remember exactly when but I must have been around twelve to fourteen years old, I had an odd experience with, as of what I know now, the supernatural sort. Whether it be ghost or demon/spirit, or of a nature which has been explained by science which I have not yet heard of, I do not know. If anyone would like to give it a go (on explaining the odd occurance), then be my guest as it is what I am making this thread for.
The Start
(This portion may not be nesseccary, but I feel like I ought to add it any way. If you do not like to read a lot, feel free to skip this part.)
Not long after I moved into a new house at the age of seven, say a few years later, I had experienced some odd things, mostly noises. In the late hours of the night I would hear things being moved and/or knocked off my shelves. Sometimes nothing was moved at all and I could have been imagining the sounds, sometimes something was moved and/or knocked down. Now of course this could be explained as I lived near a train and even though the moved items were placed back, it could be possible that the vibrations from the train took part. However, once in a while this would happen, as it did only rarely, there would not be a train during the sound of the items being moved and/or knocked down. (Again this area may not be nesseccary for reading as I feel there are ways to explain these occurances.)
Often times, as often as a few times and sometimes everyday for weeks, I would hear a sound as if a large bug or a mouse were rustling plastic and/or paper bags. I would get up, turn on the light and look at the source of the sound to find nothing there. There were times when I got up to search the room and the sound would stop, and there were also times when I got up to search the room but the sound did not stop and even with a thorough search of the room nothing was to be found. I had no fan in my room and the only thing that could be able to produce the energy needed to make a sound like those occure was a heater (not a central air vent, but one that could be turned on within my room) and the only way it could make a sound so loud and energetic, if you will, would be if I placed a plastic bag or paper bag right next it (two feet away would be the furthest it could be to produce the noise) however, being very cautionary not to start fires, I keept all flamable objects far away from that thing. The sound would come from the other side of the room, in an area between where my bed ended (where my feet would go) and my dresser. Now I did keep objects in that area that could create that noise and on some occasions I believe it could have been a bug or a mouse though I have only seen a cockroach once in that house and never a mouse, I still believe it could be possible. However, on those particular nights which I would get up and search the room, and I mean searched every damn spot there was, I found no mouse or bug and yet the noise, without a bag of any sort or any sort of paper or any sort of plastic in motion, would continue.
There was another sound I would hear as often as the last and I can only describe it, as I have seen and heard that sound being created, as the sound of a dog repeatedly scraping their paws on carpet and not lightly but very roughly. Now this too has an explaination at times as I had a dog which had an allergy causing her to lick her paws raw and to the point of bleeding at times. Though the dog did not sleep in my room, sometimes she would sleep in my brothers room, who's room was next to mine, or in the hall outside my door, my door located at the end of the hall. Sometimes I would wake up after hearing the sound and she would be in the hall and if she wasn't I would not look in my brothers room, however I would look in the living area downstairs (where my brother's room and my room were) for her and if I could not find her there I would look upstairs (where on the right was another hall that led to the dog's designated room as we had no guests at the time) and sometimes she would be in the hall upstairs or in the dog's designated room. Now even assuming those times she was found there, the sound was an echo, there were times when I would look around and turn to going up stairs where on my left was the main living room where I would find her. My problem with that is that if she was sleeping up stairs on the farest end of the house on another level of my room and as we had no vents leading thoughout the house and I heard that noise loud as if she was right there in the area where my bed ended and my dresser began, how then could it have been her? If she had simple moved within seconds my searching her out, I would have heard her get up (as she struggled and often made sounds of it and she had a color with two tags that when she moved clang together making a noise which I would have heard loud and clear), and yet I did not. Now I as I said this, at times, has an explaination.
Out of these sounds I had a visual experience. This also could be explained as it is very dark in my room and I was rather tired. However, I feel as though I had seen it, but you are welcome to dissagree with me as I know it is easy to explain this one. I will tell it anyway because it is important to me. Before going to sleep I had heard a noise from my bedside and turned to look around (which I often did first before getting up and turning on a light if the sounds would continue) and instead of seeing the glow-in-the-dark stars on my closet door (accross the room from the side of my bed) which stayed luminous until the early hours of the morning (I know this as I spent many nights and early mornings awake, unable to sleep), I saw nothing but solid blackness. I looked up and with what little light had shown in from my window with the help of the moon I saw a very tall figure (seemingly human) standing and looking over me not even giving a inch of space between it and the bed. It was so tall that from my perspective (I was laying down looking up at it) it gave around a foot and a half, if not less, of space between it's head and the ceiling. I could tell that it had on a hat with a rim that, from my view, lined the entire hat which was like a fedora or maybe a western styled hat (I could not see the more detailed of things). I had seen the head under the hat, a neck, and shoulders. After the shoulders, the figure was straight all the way down almost looking like it was wearing a trench coat, but I do not know if it was wearing a coat it only seemed that it was since I could not see the end of its arms or anything defined on the full body. The entire figure was solid and black leaving no detail to see. I, so frightened and young and not knowing what else to do and knowing odd things that were unbelieved often occured in my room, turned in my bed, threw the covers over my head and began to pray. I feel asleep praying and woke up to the sound of my own voice still praying and in a cold sweat. I continued to pray, not rolling over to see if the figure was still there or not, until I feel asleep again.
Now with that long, and I still believe a bit unesseccary but worthy of mention at least to me, part out of the way I would like to mention that even after those occurances I never once suspected supernatural things. Though my head was filled with fun ghost stories, I looked more towards logic and even though I believe the occurances to be odd I knew there was and still is an explaination for them.
What I Cannot Explain
(This is the area I wish all would read and then give an opinion.)
One night, before going to sleep, I began to hear the sound of plastic bags rustling. I waited a while to see if the sound would continue (sometimes I would tell it to stop or to knock it off and let me sleep, but this time I do not remember if I did so or not), and the sound did not stop. I got up out of my bed and walked over to the lightswitch (inbetween my bedroom door and the closet doors) and turned it on. When I turned around (and I cannot remember if the sound stopped or continued as it was no longer my focus) I saw the bedskirt being pulled, lightly, underneith the bed at the corner. The entire area of the corner was wrapped in the bed skirt and no long had the bed skirt flowing freely underneith. To get a better look I went up the corner of the bed, thinking maybe it was the cat (which at the time was new to the family) playing with it though I do not see how it could have been since the skirt did not show signs of release to flow down as it normally would. Anyhow, I got down on my knees and put my head to the floor a few inches from the bed's corner and saw nothing under the bed. Not a single thing. Even now it still bothers me. I looked up, seeing the underside of the corner of the bed, and saw that the bedskirt wasn't just being held up in place, but had streaks as if finger (I think towards fingers as it is the only thing I can refrence it as) were digging into the bedskirt and pulling it further under. When I was away from the bed skirt there had been no signs of it being pulled under, only signs of it being held under. Now I moved my head a bit back and looked up at the corner. The bedskirt was indeed being pulled under and started not a moment later than when I had stuck my head on the ground to view underneith the bed. The bedskirt had been pulled all the way off the corner and under the bed, leaving only the sides of the bedskirt still in place. I got up immediately and left my room, closing the door behind me. I slept upstairs on the couch and when I woke up I went back downstairs to find the bedskirt right where it was when I had left, only no long being pulled or held under the bed. I tore it off and threw it into storage for it was the only one thing I had experienced that could not be explained and as many times as I tell the story (online or to a few close persons) it is still not explained and most times ignored.
Whether you believe my experience truely happened, please tell me if you have a way to explain this. I am open to any suggestion on any explaination. Even if it is the "you were tired and hallucinated" explaination, though I hadn't even began to fall asleep and was not tired that night and have no history of having heard noises that have not existed or seen things that have not existed though it may seem that way. I have been to many psychiatrists (for other reasons) and they have never diagnosed me with anything other than what I have been in there for (aside from one doctor who was notorious for perscribing anyone anything under any reasoning and in my experience was not to focused on actually finding out what was ailing me but more interested in what all he could sell me and still he had not diagnosed me with anything that would lead one to have hallucinations or hearing nonexisting sounds).
Thank you for reading.
