Maia sat in a tree at the park. Time and time again she returned no matter all the bad thing that kept happening there. It seemed not to matter to her, this not as the sky seemed to lighten just beyond its usually midnight blue signaling the morning imminent arrival Maia felt just calm and happy.
Despite that it might draw attention to herself and ruin her night she sang out, softly at first, but louder by the third line in the song. The song was Little Wonders by Rob Thomas.

The girl in the tree would eventually see a small grayish feline lacking a tail making her way towards the base of the large plant. That faint sound of a bell jingling with every small step the animal made should have been hint enough for the senshi as to who it was.
If it wasn't evident, the redheaded girl would soon enough be greeted by a familiar voice.
"That was a wonderful way to wake up, Sailor Maia! Thank you for that!" No sarcasm, just an absolutely genuine compliment from the manx that was now sitting on the ground.
With her eyes looking up to the girl's feet, ********* couldn't help but playfully ask, "Might I ask as to why you are in that tree? Or have you decided to become a monkey this evening?"

Zirconia usually went out of her way to avoid the park after that last disaster she had there, even if that wasn't really directly the park's fault and more what happened after.
But still, her nightly prowl was stopped when she sensed two power signatures, one a cat and one of 'her' senshi. Deciding this must be investigated, she darted through the park, occasionally diving in bushes and peeking around obstacles
Finally, she made a ninja dive and tumbled under a bench, spying *********. "Pssst. What are you doing he--" Easily following ********* gaze, she eventually spotted Maia's location as well, even though she had to stick her head out further and ended up rolling on her back to see 'up'.
"...Maia, darling, why are you in a tree?"

"Huh," she said looking down and smiling brightly at *********. "Oh hello, *********. I am glad you liked it. Im not the senshi of song for nothing than huh?"
She was about to jump down when she heard Zirc as well, "Oh hey, Zirc. I'm coming right down. I was just done with my patrol and I don't know I just felt really at peace. I just took a moment to rest and I probably shouldn't have been singing, but I really can't help it."
With that she jumped down and sat in the grass next to ********* before giving her a pet, "So what brings you two to the park, well, more you ********* than you Zirc, as you were probably look for me, yes?"
She motioned her Zirc to come over with a smile.

The manx momentarily glanced to the source of the hissed whisper. With a slight tilt of the head, the cat nearly mewed out "Oh, Zirconia! It's nice to see you again!" Had it just been the two of them, the smaller cat might have approached the larger feline.
However, it was about that time that Maia landed nearby on the ground. Ah yes, that was much more approachable. Not able to resist her feline instincts, the manx rose to all four paws and made her way to the redhead's ankles. "Yes, you are rather talented, Maia. Better than anything I could ever do. It really isn't all that unusual for me to be in the park though. You are aware that I am not a domesticated cat. I have too much work to do to be trapped in a house." She paused just short of the girl's ankles and pointed with her right paw towards a nearby bush.
"I was sleeping over there." She smiled before then rubbing her small body along the girl's hand which ran along her small body. Being a bit quick on the uptake (it wasn't common for ********* to observe Zirconia taking on a familiar tone with a senshi), the smaller animal called back to the other guardian "Do I take it this is one of your girls, Zirconia?"

"Oh... yes, I was," Zirconia said, figuring a white lie was just fine. She hadn't actually decided on who to stalk yet tonight but Maia did just fine.
She rolled over back to her feet and padded over to Maia for scratchings, but really couldn't help but glare at *********. Standing there. By HER senshi's ankles, and suddenly Zirc felt the need to rub the side of her head against Maia's legs as she tried weaving through them in a figure 8 in a typical 'miiiine' gesture.
"Yes," She finally answered the manx, as if it hadn't been made painfully obvious.

Maia grinned at the pair and gave Zirconia a scratching behind her ear smiling as she did so. She looked down at the pair as they conversed and shook her head, the little gestures from Zirconia were rather funny.
"I hope you had a good nap *********. I certainly had a good rest, picked a spot to sleep you did," then she looked to Zirconia and grinned, "Yes. I guess I would be and it looks like you found me all in one piece. You know though ********* is the one who awakened me. Saved me from a mud monster."
"Its been a little while since we last spoke, since winter yes. And now here you are and that good because I keep forgetting with all the going on that i wanted to show you something." The BMC members has seen it before and knew she had it, but not ********* pulled out the green crystal on a silver chain with a grin, holding it out in one hand and pulling Zirconia into her lap with the other, "Its the mint crystal. I think with this one the senshi have more, but I'm not sure, not many others know I have it."

********* was obviously caught in the figure-8 action of the other larger cat. Not that the manx minded, but having the long fur of Zirconia's tail brush up under her nose made it tickle in a manner that caused her to let out a tiny sneeze.
"...pardon me," she said as she rubbed at her nose with a paw. While she tried to ensure that her nose wouldn't be causing any more unexpected sneezes (not that any sneezes were ever really expected), she merely bobbed her head up and down at Maia's explanations to Zirconia. Yes, ********* had been the one to awaken Maia. Yes, ********* had been there when there was a mud monster. Yes, the last time ********* had spoken to Maia was during winter.
As her paw came down, ********* also clarified "We also seem to meet up at the strangest of times of day." Last time it had also been pretty early in the morning (though today was much earlier).
With her paw out of the way, green eyes were able to fall upon a much lighter green gem that was suddenly in front of her nose. The girl didn't have to really explain what it was. There was something about the gem that made it special. The manx could sense it, but what specifically, not even she could tell. However, all explanations the girl offered were welcomed to her little pointy ears.
"The mint crystal," the feline's eyes really couldn't part ways so easily. She was a cat, after all. With a paw, she somewhat attempted to bat at the sparkly little gem. "I am glad it is in the hands of a senshi. Have you learned anything about it?"

Zirconia happily went limp as Maia pulled her up into her lap and settled in, almost melting into am amorphous blob of fur with a tail. She just nodded as Maia went on about the mint crystal, even though rainbow crystals weren't really in her scope of knowledge. She could pretend.
"Maia is very responsible with it," She bragged, and couldn't help but poke at it herself when she saw ********* bat at it.
She would shut up and let Maia answer ********* question, though. As much as she liked to butt in, she hadn't really bothered retaining any information on the crystal the second she noted it was not a royal crystal and thus, not worth her time.

Maia gave a Zirconia's statement continuing to pet her happily, "well I don't really know that much about it. I do know it has to attune to you and that it only works for me. I have learned how to use it. When its active and I sing it creates a bridge i can run over. Go up pretty high, over peoples heads. As long as I sing it will keep building, but when I stop it disappears just like that. Other than that I do not see what makes them so special, but I sure we will all find out someday."
Maia tucked the crystal away back were it was and lay back in the grass looking up at the trees, the stars sparkling through the branches. "Being a senshi is really kicking my behind," she mumbled, "for every youma I dust, it a seems like another comes around the corner and if another nega almost kills me I swear I'll scream."
Her hand still it stroking and she glanced at Zirc, "Wolframite tried to kill me, just a while back. If it had not been for Regulus' good timing he might have succeeded. Bested me twice now, he has. First nearly took my starseed and second outright tried to kill me. I'm lucky, only a broken clavical, well fractured. Six weeks to heal, but I was back to normal or mostly normal by camp."
She huffed, then smiled, "but theres a bright side."

********* looked intently at Maia as she spoke about her crystal, fighting off the urge to paw at the sparkly shiny gem. She was a good kitty and was letting the senshi know she was listening. Though the girl claimed she didn't know much about her trinket, the manx honestly felt that she was not giving herself enough credit. It was actually a lot of information to absorb, which the tailless guardian couldn't help but feel was a good thing.
"I thank you, Maia, for sharing all of that with me. It was much more than I knew about such a thing, so again... thank you." To let her knew how much she appreciated it, the smaller cat rubbed up against the girl again. It was just a small display of affection.
However, it seemed as if she was not done talking, and so ********* resumed her usual good listener position. The red haired girl's words were not foreign to her. In fact, these were very common feelings many of the senshi had time and again. It was a sort of despair that seemed to eventually catch up to every girl (and boy) in this line of work.
A familiar name did come up though amidst her frustrations. Certainly, ********* was not meant to know Patches' actual Negaverse Alias, but when he had attacked Hugbell and made such a name for himself recently, it was somewhat hard to not know that Patches was Wolframite.
"...well... nobody said that doing the right thing did not have its own dangers. And many times the only reward is just the self satisfaction of knowing you did the right thing." She sighed and nuzzled up against the girl. "Wolframite has been known to get around it would seem... I remember when he was a Lieutenant... in a desperation move, he broke my leg. Iris took that pretty hard... but oh well." ********* didn't feel there was a need to mention the fact that the injury had nearly caused her to die, which was the actual reason why that eternal senshi had taken things "pretty hard."
"...however, now you have my curiosity piqued, Maia. What do you consider to be the bright side to all of this?"

Zirconia couldn't help but frown at the mention of Wolframite. He was definitely on her shitlist and she was going to forever lament the fact he escaped Operation Rota without getting his throat slit.
But it really wasn't the time to vocalize such feelings.
Instead, she just looked up at Maia when she said she saw the bright side of it all, eager to hear this as well.

Maia looked sad for a moment, "I'm sorry he broke you leg, he is rather misguided," she said before sighing softly as ********* spoke again.
Maia looked to ********* and smiled, "I have been able to experience so many wonderful things. Such as floating in space with Kurma, hearing the song of the cosmos and going to Maia. It has singing tree. I have no idea what they are singing or if it is even words, but it is beautiful. I pretty sure they respond to touch, though it may be magic but it doesn't really matter. I know things about the universe the scientist can only imagine."
Her grin faded a little though it remained, "also I am one of the ones that has been around for a while. Over a year now I believe. I have seen and done things I am not at all proud about and made so many mistake, but the others, like Chibi Ixion will benefit from that. I can help to train the newer senshi as I am with Ixion. I hope to give them guidance and keep them from, if possible, the mistakes I have made. The senshi as a whole might not have a leader, but we are learning and we are stepping up and that is a good thing."
She sat up, "I still makes mistake, I'm not perfect and to be honest I'm rather terrified of Wolframite, but I can accept and work to move past the latter while still helping others and ridding our town of youmas." She conveniently left out the negaversers as her opinion on the matter was shifting.

By the time the girl had finished explaining why she was glad to be a senshi, the cat was smiling in a very proud manner. Not every senshi appreciated all of the things that came with their powers. Many senshi took the space travel for granted, many others did not want to help their fellow senshi learn so that they could be better as a group. And not every senshi admitted the fact they were not perfect.
The cat stood up on her hind legs, bringing her paws up to the girl's chest, just above her heart. ********* wasn't exactly the tallest of animals, so she had to stretch her body out quite a bit.
"It sounds like you know what you want to do as a senshi, Sailor Maia. To teach others with your experience. It is an admirable goal. I think it is time..."

As much as Zirconia proudly listened to her Maia, she still had a suspicious eye on *********. And then, she suddenly stopped quietly listening and enjoying being petted. ********* was making a move on her girl. And that was ******** unacceptable. Suddenly, the large cat lunged and tackled the smaller manx with a yowl.
She had laid claim to Maia and her starseed and pretty much all rights of cat ownership a long time ago, and she did not appreciate ********* ignoring such rights.
"Don't you dare!" She yelled out. "I'll do it," She huffed, fur completely puffed out in all that agitation.
