Single battle:
Sawk: Sturdy
Nature: Lonely
Held Item: Sitrus berry (I heard it was banned recently so Leichi berry)
EV's: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 SpD
Moveset: Reversal / Counter / Earthquake / Bulk Up
=The tactic here is to switch onto anything who's a attacker and use counter. It's nature and low defence IV, to get sturdy to activate, thus activating it's berry. Then it's Reversal should be maxed out to a amazing base damage of 200! With maxed out attack, and high speed, it should Sweep a whole team if your opponent doesn't carry along any focus sashes, priority moves or suspect this from sawk.
Tropius: Harvest
Nature: Careful
Held Item: Chesto Berry
EVs: 252 Def or SpD or split even / 252 HP / 4 AtK
Moveset: Leaf Blade / aerial ace / Rest / Sword dance
=This set focuses on abusing Tropius's DW ability: Harvest. Chesto awakes and Harvest regains the berry lost, so infinite rests (as long as it isn't taken away). You keep up your sword dances along with your HP to sweep your opponent (Keep a eye out for rock types).
Whimiscott: Prankster
Nature: Bold / Calm
Held Item: Light Clay
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Def
Moveset: Substitute or taunt / leech seed / light screen / memento or protect
=This set tends to be annoying, but that's not all this set is for. Leech seed + protect or substitute when predicting a switch-in. Light screen is needed as it will guard you from its low Special Defence. Taunt and memento go together in this set if you want the other one.
and
Chandelier: Shadow Tag
Nature: Bold
Held Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Moveset: Flamethrower / Energy Ball or Solarbeam (If this is in a drought team) / Substitute / Calm mind
=This set pretty much explains how it works, whimiscott's memento trapped in a taunt (best if especially defencive pokemon) onto a shadow tag chandelier. Get those calm minds up (don't forget to substitute once they're all up) and flamethrower, as it's your main stab move with your calm minds.
Slowbro: Regenerate
Nature: Bold or Modest
Held Item: Leftovers or Choice Spec
EVs: 252 SpA or 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 Sp Def
Moveset: Boiling water or Hydro Pump / Psychic / slack off / protect
=Slowbro can be used as a tank sweeper or a hit and runner. Slack off and protect on spec'd is to stall a pokemon and switch in and out to let the poison slowly drain your opponent with toxic spikes.
Galvantula: Compoundeyes
Nature: Modest
Held Item: Choice Specs
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moveset: Thunder / Energy Ball / Bug Buzz / Substitute
=As non-threatening as Galvantula looks, it's actually really good when it comes to compoundeyes + Thunder. It has 93% of missing with compoundeyes, and that's too much to worry about.
Butterfree: Compoundeyes
Nature: Timid
Held Item: Focus Sash
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moveset: Bug Buzz / Psychic / Sleep Powder / Butterfly Dance
=Butterfree was always looked like a weak butterfly with nothing really good to talk about. It now has the move butterfly dance. Start off with Sleep Powder and go for 2 (Personally) or risky 3 butterfly dances, then let butterfree spread it's wings!
Dunsparce: Serene Grace
Nature: Bold
Held Item: Rugged Helmet or Leftovers
EVs: 252 Def / 252 HP / 4 SpD
Moveset: Roost / Thunder wave / Headbutt / Substitute
=This set basically explains itself, thunder wave for starters and Roost until your opponent para's, or expect a switch-in to get a substitute in, then thunder wave again. Annoy your opponent as much abusing this tactic and it could get some surprising KO's. It's specially defencive because there are more priority moves that involves physical contact.
Metagross: Clear Body
Nature Adamant
Held Item: Light Clay
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Speed
Moveset: Meteor Mash / Zen Headbutt / Agility / Light Screen
=Lets be fancy and give metagross some other nice moves other than the common bullet puncher and give it meteor mash and hope for gaining attack. Light Screen is a option to use against a defence pokemon. Agility is if you're planning on sweeping.
Hydreigon: Levitate
Nature: Timid
Held Item: Choice spec
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 SpD
Moveset: Dark Pulse / Dragon Pulse / Flamethrower / Focus Blast
=This is the common move set that you see kids running around with. Go with dragon pulse for stab spec'd and it'll be a OHKO.
Rotom-W: Levitate
Nature: Modest
Held Item: Choice scarf
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 Def
Moveset: Hydro Pump / Thunder Bolt / Trick / Substitute
=Rotom-W was good last generation, but is even better this generation, reason for that is all the pokemon with stat boosting tactics. Hydro Pump really dents or KO's practically anything. Trick is good to any stat boosting needed pokemon.
Rhyperior: Solid Rock
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 Def
Moveset: Earthquake / Stone edge / Megahorn / Rock Polish
=Rock Polish sweep is deadly and will sweep a unprepared team. Stealth rock could be useful for taking out the 5% to 10% damage needed to KO
Honchkrow: Moxxy
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 Def
Moveset: Sucker Punch / Pursuit / Roost / Taunt
=Honchkrow gets stronger as it kills more. Roost is there to either pursuit or heal any life orb damage, taunt is a surprise for pokemon like slowbro who wishes to calm mind but unable to, then wanting to use it's DW ability Renerate, but being KO'd by pursuit.
Togekiss: Hustle
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 HP / 4 Def
Moveset: ExtremeSpeed / Drain Punch / Work Up / Magic Coat
=This is a unexpected set for Togekiss, people usually predict it to have the common Paraflinch set. This set has to watch out for any ghosts. Magic Coat is there for any Ferrothorn, Skarmory, Foretress, Claydol, or any stealth and spikers.
Lucario: Steadfast
Nature: Jolly
Held Item: Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moveset: Hi Jump Kick / Extreme Speed / Payback / Sword Dance
=Once you set up a sword dance, this thing is nearly unstoppable with extreme speed. Instead of having close combat, the 30 more power from Hi Jump Kick (and without any of its defences dropping) is a much better option. Payback anything you know will switch for that free hit or KO.
Vaporeon: Water Absorb
Nature: Calm
Held Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Moveset: Quick Attack / Boiling Water / Acid Armor / Wish or Rest
=Vaporeon is used to take that annoying special attack sweeper out. If the sweeper is at 1 HP (due to focus sash), just quick attack by surprise. This set is primarily used to stop physical sweepers with life orb, oh the joy of having 3 acids while it's burnt.
Mienshao: Inner Focus
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 speed / 4 HP
Moveset: Hi Jump Kick / Stone Edge / Fake Out / U-turn
=Mienshao should always be a lead. The common Ambipom leads you see will be demolished, expecting it to flinch you with that technician fake out and then Hi Jump Kicking to the face. Fake out should be used in the beginning of the match if it's a non-fake out pokemon, and once it fake outs, U-turn or switch out of there. Your opponent will know Mienshao has Fake out in its arsenal. Once you send Mienshao again, it's a guessing game between you and your opponent, to do that extra damage with fake out or hi jump kick expecting your opponent to switch out. Note that ghosts resist two of it's attacks.
Sceptile: Unburden
Nature: Modest
Held Item: White Herb
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 4 Speed
IVs: 31 HP / 30 Atk / 31 Def / 30 SpA / 31 SpD / 30 Speed = Hidden Power Fire
Moveset: Leaf Storm / Substitute or Hidden Power Fire / Focus Blast / Dragon Pulse
=For starters, use Leaf Storm and then decide to switch out or stay to get another leaf storm in. Unburden activates once it's item is lost and then switched out. It'll have 554 Speed with unburden in effect, so giving it so much speed isn't neccesary.
Virizion: Heart of Justice
Nature: Careful
Held Item: Light Clay
EVs: 252 SpD / 252 HP / 4 Atk
Moveset: Leaf Blade / Sacred Sword / Sword Dance / Reflect
=My favorite of the three, set up a reflect on a Special attacker and sword dance to do some real damage.
Cobalon: Heart of Justice
Nature: Jolly
Held Item: Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 Def
Moveset: Iron Head / Close Combat / Metal Burst / Sword Dance
=This pokemon is the more bulky type out of the three. Sword dance won't be a problem for it, then close combat spam!
Terrakion: Heart of Justice
Nature: Jolly
Held Item: Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 Def
Moveset: Stone Edge / Close Combat / Sword Dance / Poison Jab or Earthquake or X-scissor
=About the same with cobalion. The fourth slot is open to any move, Earthquake would be preferred with its seemingly higher attack but poison jab or x-scissor having more coverage.
Scrafty: Shed Skin | Moxxy
Nature: Careful | Adamant
Held Item: Leftovers | Choice Scarf
EVs: 252 SpD / 252 HP / 4 Def | 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 SpD
Moveset: Drain Punch / Payback / Rest / Bulk Up | Hi Jump Kick / Pursuit / Drain Punch / Protect
=This is strange, but let me explain for both |. The shed skin tactic is used to gain Bulk ups while shed skin wakes it up, that's the best part about that set, drain punch restores HP back as well. The other set is Scarf'd Hi Jump Kick with Moxxy, making it stronger as it KO's.
Ferrothorn: Steel Thorns
Nature: Careful
Held Item: Leftovers or rugged helmet
EVs: 252 HP / 8 Def / 248 SpD
Moveset: Thunder Wave / Spikes / Leech seed / Gyro Ball or protect
=The most common set on Ferrothorn. It's defences are enough to be split even at 330 and HP being at 352. Leech seed your opponent to help you get all 3 spikes in, protect every other turn.
Nidoking: Sheer Force
Nature: Modest
Held Item: Life orb
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moveset: Sludge Wave / Earth Power / Thunderbolt / Toxic Spikes
=Nidoking does so much damage with sheer force as his ability. Toxic Spikes is there in case needed, but not necessary.
Lilligant: Own Temple
Nature: Modest
Held Item: Life orb
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moveset: Giga Drain / Dream Eater / Sleep Powder / Butterfly Dance
=Sleep Powder and butterfly dance, or you can play mind games with your opponent into thinking you'll use dream eater again but actually use giga drain.
Leavanny: Swarm
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Expert Belt / Focus Sash / Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spd / 4 HP
Moveset: X-scissor / Leaf Blade / Shadow Claw / Sword Dance
=I love Hahakomori (Japanese name), it has access to sword dance and lots of attacks to use combined with expert belt. Once swarm activates due to Focus Sash, X-scissor becomes very deadly with a sword dance in.
Durant: Hustle or Swarm
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Red Card / Life orb / Expert Belt
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 Def
Moveset: X-scissor / Iron Head / Thunder wave / Crunch
=Durant Can work as a paraflincher. It's sort of like scissor in a way, but Durant still looks ominously evil.
Jellicent: Water Absorb
Nature: Calm
Held Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Moveset: Protect or Acid Armor / Night Shade / Will-o-wisp / Recover
=Burn + Protect + Night Shade + protect + Recover + Rage Quit.
Sunny Day:
Ninetales: Drought
Nature: Timid
Held Item: Focus Sash
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 SpD
Moveset: Flamethrower / Solar Beam or Energy Ball / Hypnosis / Nasty Plot
=Ninetales as a lead can be deadly once you get hypnosis'd. Ninetales has a high chance of getting 2 Nasty plots in before the pokemon wakes up to 4KO practically anything that doesnt resist it with flamethrower. The option between solarbeam and energy ball is to save Ninetales purpose to it's own team and weather being changed into something else.
Venusaur: Chlorphyll
Nature: Modest
Held Item: Bulb
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 4 Speed
Moveset: Solar Beam / Sludge Bomb / Growth / Sleep Powder
=Switch onto Venasaur on a expecting Surf or Boiling water to boost it's special attack from bulb. Growth is the main move here as it will Increase Venusaurs already high special attack in sunny day with solar beam. Speed isn't needed as it's base speed (196 with 31 IV's) will be 392 with chlorophyll.
Magmortar: Flame Body
Nature: Timid
Held Item: Expert Belt
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 SpD
Moveset: Flamethrower / Solar Beam / Thunderbolt / Focus Blast
=This is the most advantage it has to get coverage for any pokemon. Stab boosted flamethrower is the perfect choice for a pokemon than solar beam.
Rain:
Lapras: Hydration
Nature: Calm
Held item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 SpD / 252 HP / 4 Def
Moveset: Perish song + Whirlpool / Rest / Ice beam
=The surprise here, your opponent might want to wait the 2nd turn, but whirlpool takes over by surprise. This is good for a rain team, as rest fully recovers due to lapras's ability.
Gorebyss: Swift Swim
Nature: Modest
Held Item: Focus Sash or White Herb
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 Speed / 4 HP
IVs: 31 HP / 31 Atk / 31 Def / 30 SpD / 31 Speed = Hidden Power Grass
Moveset: Surf or Hydro Pump / Ice Beam or Hidden Power Grass / Psychic / Shell Break
=A Bloody "Gore"byss set. Shell Smash and use surf or hydro pump and it will KO anything not named Chansey. A stab rain water type will deal more damage then the others, so just keep that in mind.
Ludicolo: Swift Swim
Nature: Calm
Held Item: Choice specs or life orb
EVs: 252 SpA / 252 SpD / 4 Speed
Moveset: Energy Ball / Surf / Ice Beam / Focus Blast
=Mirror B's long relationship dancing companion! Ludicolos speed will be 352 with rain in play, Ludicolo is threatening in rain, so surfs up.
Kabutops: Swift Swim
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Focus sash or life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Def / 4 Speed
Moveset: Waterfall or Aqua Tail / Stone edge / Night Slash / Sword Dance
=Kabutops may not seem like much, but it's power is classed with Ubers. Sword Dance will KO practically anything. Kabutops speed is enough to outspeed even a jolteon with rain in play.
Omastar: Swift Swim
Nature: Modest
Held Item: White herb
EVs: 252 Def / 252 SpA / 4 Speed
Moveset: Hydro Pump or Surf / Earth Power / Ice Beam / Shell Break
=Omastar finally because a part of the family with Kabutops, how nice. Shell Smash and then start your sweeping adventure.
Basculin (Red Striped Form): Adaptiability
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Choice Band or Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 HP
Moveset: Aqua Jet / Aqua Tail / Life Gamble / Taunt
=No turn set up, just Aqua jet (or aqua tail) with + Rain + Max attack + Max IV + Stab + Choice Band and it'll practically hurt everything.
Sandstorm:
Tyranitar: Sand Stream
Nature: Adamant
Held Item: Leftovers or Life orb
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Speed / 4 SpD
Moveset: Stone Edge / Crunch / Outrage / Dragon Dance
=Dragon Dance for starters and use Stone Edge and Crunch for stab moves. Outrage is to take out any dragon types by surprise.
Hippowdon: Sand Stream
Nature: Careful
Held Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Def
Moveset: Earthquake / Toxic, fire fang, ice fang or stone edge / Slack Off / Curse
=Curse curse curse #$^*%! Just watch out for any red card's, whirlwind, roar, trick or switcheroos.
Aron (Level 1): Sturdy
Item: Shell Bell
Moveset: Endeavor / tackle / protect / toxic
=Ahhhh, the aron, everyone has seen this at least once, but if it's all new to you, this is how it works: Have a tyranitar sandstorm the whole game and just wait till Tyranitar Dies. Aron is the main one here, as it will go last, to endeavor the HP back with shell bell and still live due to sturdy. The only thing aron has to watch out is: spikes, stealth rocks, toxic spikes, ghost, steel, ground, rock, and sand veilers (which is all common in OU). This set should be used with hippotas and aron in NU. [Watch out for status condition pokemon!]
Excadrill: Sand Throw
Nature Adamant
Item: Life Orb
Moveset: Brick Break / Shadow Claw / Earthquake / Sword Dance
=Doesn't even need to set up using sword dance, it is a potential sweeper all by itself. Earthquake deals a lot of damage with stab, brick break those shields, shadow claw any ghosts.
Hail:
Beartic: Snow Cloak
Nature: Brave or Adamant
Held Item: Chesto
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Attack / 4 SpD
Moveset: Avalanche or Icicle spear / stone edge / Rest / Claw sharpen
=Abuse Snow cloak + Claw sharpen, some people may not like the Idea of evasion clause though. Avalanche deals lots of damage, accompanied by claw sharpen.
Vaniluxe: Ice Body
Nature: Bold
Held Item: Leftovers or Light Clay
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Moveset: Ice Beam or ice breath / Light Screen / Mirror Coat or Acid Armor / Toxic or Rest
=Doesn't have much to abuse except by straight out attacking or being bulky and setting up a light screen.
Double Battle:
Dusknoir: Pressure
Nature: Impish
Held item: Balloon
IVs: 252 SpD / 252 Def / 4 HP
Moveset: Trick Room / Disable / Shadow Punch / Pain Split
with
Wobbafet: Shadow Tag
Nature: Calm
Held Item: Leftovers
EVs: 252 SpD / 252 HP / 4 Def
Moveset: Encore / Counter / Mirror Coat / Safeguard
=The tactic here is abusing some moves in these two pokemons set. The two moves would be Encore + Disable. Disable stops the pokemon from using the same move twice, while encore causes the pokemon to use the move more than once, what happens when you use both while under shadow tag? Struggle. The other moves are explainable.
or
Shuckle: Sturdy
Nature: Relaxed
Held Item: Leichi Berry
EV's: 252 Defence / 252 SpD / 4 HP
Moveset: Power Trick / Protect / Stone edge / Earthquake
=The set for this goes like this: Dusknoir uses Trick room, Shuckle uses Power Trick. Then abuse the heck out of Earthquake while dusknoir (if lucky) is on a balloon. With Sturdy, it'll be able to survive one attack by a priority move cause once power trick is used, its defence is horrible.
45 Pokemon strategies so far o.o I'll continue tomorrow ^^
