User ImageNiveus perched himself on a large, flat rock by a small brook. Peering into his reflection, he gazed at his horns, his spaded tail, and then his bare, wingless back. Why would his mother, a kalona, choose to mate with a normal soquili? It didn't make much sense to him. But then again, not much she did made sense to him. She was strange, always speaking in riddles, always doing odd things. At first, he accepted it, but when he got older, he began to think she was simply insane. One minute, she was affectionate to her son, the next he was running for his life. It didn't take long for Niveus to flee his home, and his mother. How long could he have lasted in that environment? But the other question arose in his head once more. Why a normal soquili? Don't kalona all believe themselves superior? Perhaps his mother wanted to see if a half-blood would be half as superior. Niveus shrugged to himself, not even sure if his theory was nearly correct.

He should have at least been born with wings, they're more useful than this odd tail...He swished the tail behind him, imagining himself with a full set of wings and a white silky tail like his mane. Sighing, he looked around for another soquili to prank or tease, to make him feel less inferior.

Claudine walked silently in the direction of a small brook she had come across just the day before. She was consumed in her thoughts of a stallion she had met yesterday. He had, had a strong build and was rather cunning, so she decided that she would manipulate him to suit her needs. Which had been a task in and of itself. For him she had needed to sink to the lowest part of herself, the part she hated. She had to act like a kind and gentle mare, just like her mother. As she thought of this, her body shivered. "Never again." Claudine said shaking her head. Just remembering what she had to do just to use someone made her sick. Well, at least she had been sucessful. Kind of.

Shaking her head once more Claudine thought back to a time when she was a foal and she had met a skinwalker named Barracus. He had been her first experiance with another evil soquili as well as her first meet up with a skinwalker. Since then she had encountered only one other, however, he hadn't lived up to what she had been wanting. In fact, he was quite twisted. Claudine was evil, and she liked to hurt others for enjoyment, however, there was one thing she would never do. She would never kill anyone. Not that she hadn't thought about a few times, but in her mind killing someone was pointless. What would you gain from it? They would be dead and that would end your fun until you could find another, but then you would just end up killing them too. So what was the point? However, if she was being truthful with herself she would guess it wasn't actually because of this she would never kill a soquili. In all likelyhood it was because deep down inside her there was still some good. Although, it was buried deep, deep, deep, deep down in her heart. Nonetheless, it was still there.

Claudine sighed as she reached the brush that blocked her view of the brook. Taking in a deep breath she noticed the smell of another. Instantly she hardened her body, in case this soquili turned out to want a fight. Not that she wouldn't mind a little fun. Lightly, she sniffed at the air once more. Claudine deduced from the scent that this soquili had to parts. This is what sparked her interest. A small devilish grin crossed her muzzle as she walked out of the brush, quickly looking over the soquili. So it's a stallion. He seems to be rather strong in build... Claudine thought to herself. As she looked the stallion over she noticed his horns and tail and thought of the stories her mother had told to her while she was just a filly trapped in her basket. Her mother had told her of Kalona's that shared these traits, however, they had wings. As she looked at the stallions back she noticed his lack of wings. So he's not a kalona. She thought once more to herself. Well, even though he wasn't a kalona he still was quite remarkable in appearance. Claudine decided she would test this stallion to see if he was even worth her time.

"Why are you looking at yourself so fondly?" Claudine asked in a even voice.

Niveus lurched at the sound of another voice. Each leg twitched one after another as he squirmed to see the soquili without having to get up off his rock. Being upwind of the owner of the voice, he spared himself the mono-lecture about not paying attention. This time it wasn't his fault. Peering at her, he repeated her question in his mind. Was he smiling? Did he really look like he was enjoying himself?

"I wasn't...oh wait, I was. Yes." he said, remembering his little fantasy of having wings. But he deemed it unwise to enlighten her on his inner desires. He didn't even know the mare, after all. He decided to think something up on the fly. "You see, I'm a very handsome stallion." he answered. Yes. That was -indeed- a wiser answer...he thought to himself, almost immediately regretting opening his mouth.

"I mean...well..just...nevermind." he said, failing to repair what damage was done to his first impressions. Clearing his throat, he hoped to start again. "I am Niveus, and who might this pretty mare be?" he said, throwing in an innocent compliment. That was sure to grab her attention away from what he said before!

As soon as the stallion began to talk Claudine was both shocked and a little confused. Does he have brain damage? She thought to herself as she listened to the stallion talk. Claudine sighed and tried to keep herself from shaking her head, however, she failed. "What?" She said, gathering herself. It was not unlikely that this stallion was just playing around to trick her or do something more sinister. Yes, that must be it. Claudine thought, looking into the stallions eyes. "Niveus, that's a very strong name." She said still with a even tone. It would be a shame to give away her possible plot right away. Maybe she would play with him a bit more. "My name?" Claudine said with a grin. "My name is Claudine Braen Broncach. But you may have the pleasure to call me Claudine." She said plainly. Yes, it would be his pleasure since she was so graciously not ripping him apart at the moment. "So you were staring at yourself because you are handsome?" Claudine asked as she looked at the water, then back at him. "Hmm." She replied. Maybe..... She thought as she looked him over once again.

Nothing prepared her for him calling her pretty. Yes, he must be brain dead. Or simply just stupid. Claudine shook her head. "I'm NOT pretty." Claudine said honestly. She may be evil and even manipulative, but she was certainly not concieted. Also, she didn't want to be just a pretty mare, if she was one. What would that get her? A one night stand? Certainly that was not what she wanted for her life. Claudine's thought process was a confusing one for others to grasp, which made her encounters more fun. Of course only for her.

Niveus beamed at the compliment towards his name. Yes! Forget all about what he said first! When he heard her name, it being so long compared to his, all he could remember was Braen...

So Braen it was! But, ouf, she brought up the handsome bit again. "That was..actually..not really...what happened. But we can go with that if you want.." he said, looking around himself nervously.

But when she denied being pretty, Niveus reared his head back slightly in surprise. Oh. This must be one of those modest mares. They always annoyed him slightly. They should accept that they're pretty! He wouldn't have said it if it weren't at least a little bit true..

"Of course you are, Braen! Beautiful, even. Bucks should be kneeling at your feet for a chance to even glance upon you." he said, trying his luck at being poetic. He hoped it would work. He'd be one step closer to being the ultimate mare's stallion.

Claudine found herself beyond confused by this stallion. Was he okay? He simply must be a bit crazy to first off dare say she was pretty and second to keep going on about it. Not for one second did she want to believe she was or even cared that she might be. "Sure, whatever..." Claudine said, looking away from him for a moment, debating walking away from him. This one would probably follow though. She thought to herself truthfully. A small huff of air escaped her lips as she turned her head back to him. "Why are you?" Claudine managed to get out. "What could you possibly gain?" She asked him.

What was she going to do now? She couldn't really understand this stallion which bothered her to no end. Most that she tried to manipulate to her use were not so.... him. Claudine thought for several more minutes, not sure if she should try the idea that had popped in her head. Being flirtacious really wasn't her style, but that seemed to be the only way she could direct this stallion towards something she could use. "You're very handsome yourself stallion." She said with a smile. "What's your name exactly?" Claudine asked as she stepped closer to him.
