Crossing her arms, Dr. Durand glared around around at the assembled crowd, one of her heels tapping impatiently on the floor. She vibrated with rage, from the top of her head to the toes of her polished heels. Words of outrage hissed from her mouth as hot as though she was spitting fire, and her expression hinted that if she only had the power, she would truly be roasting everyone in this room with her anger.
"I don't see why I have to be dragged into this little charade, it's a waste of everyone's time, including mine. Clearly the police should start hunting down whoever did this, but first they need to start questioning the right people! I was just working with him in the lab, what possible motivation would I have? Not to mention today was supposed to be our glorious unveiling of the invention that would revolutionize the world! The press from this event was supposed to launch our project out into the world, now the press will all go to him, even in death he hogs the spotlight. Che!"
Tossing her head in disgust, she began to pace, black thunder etched across her face. Her heels clicked in a precise beat as she stormed back and forth, the words continuing to shoot from her mouth as though they were edged weapons.
"All my work on this project, spending day after day and night after night pouring my energy into this, only to have it disrupted by his - his petty drama! I have no time for murder, and all the small minded, unimportant emotion surrounding it, I am a scientist! First and foremost! All this does is disrupt my - I mean our - greatest moment!! We were going to be famous! Our names were to go down in history! With his in much larger type, of course. But no, some mouth breathing little pest got it into their mind that this was the ideal time to strike him down. And down with him goes any hope this project has for crediblity and success. So there, my motivation is clearly obvious, to sabotage myself! Because that is all I have gained from the events tonight, I am ruined!!"
Wheeling around, she eyed the room dangerously, as if daring someone to come forward and present themselve as a target for her frustration.
"And is that all clear? Or do some of you require I repeat myself again?"

Gigi studied the meteorite as she listened to the Collaborator say her piece. Did she know she sounded like a supervillain, ranting like that? She definitely ‘dun it’, Gigi thought, if she was that worked up. Then again, maybe it was just the acting.
“No, I think we got it. But there was one more thing. Um.” Gigi took a few steps back before she continued, consulting her notes. The woman was kind of scary.
“So you were working with him in the lab today? About what time was that? Was anyone else around? I mean, it kind of sounds like you were putting in some super-duper overtime for a research assistant. If anyone suspicious was messing with the project, you’d have seen them, right?” she suggested hopefully.

The collaborator tossed her head and gave a short laugh, but her face showed no signs of humour.
"Back at the lab, it was working perfectly! Do you think he would have gotten in it if we had results like this back there? And yes, I worked my hands to the bone for him. And this is my reward? Unacceptable!"
Pausing, she seemed to calm down a little and consider the questions given. When she replied, she seemed a little more in control, and for the first time almost thoughtful, as if struck by an idea.
"Well, yes, that intern of his and I were in before the sun came up, tweaking and adjusting here, polishing there. It was the four of us there, before it was moved, her and I, him and that woman, who he had no place bringing into a room of science! I was busy dealing with the men in charge of moving it, making sure their clumsy hands didn't damage it and insuring they had the proper padding to prevent it from being scratched. I wasn't in the room with the actual machine for a good deal of time. Everyone was rushing in and out, I suppose ... it was easy enough for someone to slip on and tamper. Oh! Just thinking about someone touching my baby, making it their weapon for such a disgusting crime, if I ever find out who did this I will bring them to the highest court! The whole thing infuriates me!"

Gigi nodded along, pigtails bobbing in overzealous agreement. Yep, this lady was out the deep end of mad science. But still, she sympathised. Now the poor researchers would probably never get to see their hard work finished.
"Which woman?" she asked, perking up like it was a magic word and glancing around for the unnamed mystery suspect to pop out from behind the meteor. And checking how close the rest of the players were.
"Your baby? But it's not actually yours is it? I heard there was a will?"

Waving a hand dismissively in the air at first, and making a dismissive noise, it was clear that Dr Durand didn't think to highly of the importance of the first question. As the will was brought up however, her face began to cloud over and her lower lip began to jut out.
"Oh I don't know, he's always got some awful thing or another hanging off his lab coat. They all look the same to me, vapid, unintelligent, and intensely irritating. Always going on at him about something inane, and getting in the way of everyone around them. And don't talk to me about wills - the man was a fool in more places than his choice in female companionship! If people think he can just hand that machine over to whoever held his fancy at his time of writing it, they think wrong."
