The Financial Backer didn’t look like he wanted to be there at all. He had money to make and other people he worked with to check up on. He sat on one of the benches near an old space shuttle that had somehow found its way there instead of the city dump. In his hands were a small notebook with a bunch of numbers and equations scrawled on the pages, his phone in the other — he was obviously checking something that dealt with stocks or money in general.
He wore a business suit of dark grey with silver buttons and cuff links, and a red tie. He took a moment to balance the notebook on his knee to scribble down a few more numbers, before picking it back up again. The young man had his mahogany hair brushed back and sprayed so it wouldn’t fall out of place, and his face was rough with what looked like a couple days of not shaving, although it was still groomed well enough.
He didn’t appear too nervous as he sat there, although he did glance up randomly every so often, as though he was expecting someone to approach him. If anything, he looked annoyed. The Scientist had ripped him off, he was sure of it. But he had been expected to appear at the showing of this stupid invention, only for The Scientist to turn up dead.
It was only a matter of time before people started pointing fingers, bored with the other suspects, but he wasn’t interested in things like that. All he cared about was the money he might have just lost, and he wasn’t too thrilled about trying to gain it back, especially if he was going to have to call in his lawyer to take care of all this mucky business.
He looked up with a scowl, finally realizing that he had people gathering around him. “What do you want?” he snapped at them, before looking back down at his book. This was a waste of time.

What, no speech? This one was hard - Gigi didn’t really know what to ask him. She leafed through her notes as she approached, wondering what a financial backer had to gain by killing his back-ee. Oh wait, something the Intern had said...
She stepped forward, suddenly confident.
“I just wanted to check if your insurance policy is still valid? Since the scientist died in the machine and all. The police are probably going to lock the whole thing up for aaages while they investigate. That must be, like, a pretty big loss for you?
She craned her neck to get a look at the numbers he was writing down. Maybe there was a written clue in here somewhere. She wondered if she was allowed to go look inside the machine now the lights were back on.
"Do you fund any other scientists? It sounds like it's a pretty risky investment."

The Financial Backer scowled at the girl that approached him, taking a moment to set aside his scribblings. "Of course it's a big loss for me!" he told the girl. "The Scientist has been cheating me out of my money! Do you think he was sincere when he thanked me for my help? Of course he didn't! He was just glad I hadn't taken him to court yet! And now look what happened! Talk about a waste of time!"
Granted, if this had been a real investigation, Chris would be telling everyone 'I plead the fifth!' and then tell them to talk to his lawyer. But since it was a game and people had to get information and whatnot... Chris supposed he would do his best to try and... ignore standard legal procedures.
"I fund only those I can get backed by the courts if I don't get my money's worth. Otherwise they're better finding a different person to hold their hand," he explained. "But if you think I killed him? Ha! What good would that do for me??"

Zia had been still laughing at the dramatics of it all when everyone took their places to be questioned and she tugged at the girl on her arm. "Come on, Lily, let's to 'question' that suspicious looking guy over there," She joked, jerking a quick finger in Chris' direction before she tugged along the red head she had linked arms with earlier and remained pretty latched onto.
They'd gotten there just in time to hear his response to someone's earlier question and Zia stifiled a chucked and scratched her chin, her best look of fake suspicion on her face. "Maybe your case was going to fall through," She suggested, as first seriously going along with the act, but she had to tease him at least once. "You look like you have some serious anger issues."

Lily giggled as she was pulled away by Zia to be tugged over to Chris. She shook her head at Zia's antics but only because Chris was probably the least suspious looking guy she could imagine.
She looked to Zia as the other girl spoke, but frowned, "he may look like he has anger issues, but I doubt it could help him to kill the scientist if his case was going to fall through. Wouldn't the case be dropped if one client dies or I guess they can settle, but if he had to finance that invention then I doubt the dead scientist could pay him back."
Lily shrugged thinking that she wasn't going to be very good at his game.

Chris almost sputtered at Zia's comment about his anger issues when she made her way over with Lily, turning their way and almost forgetting to keep character.
He rolled his eyes and forced a frown on his face. "Anger issues??" he snapped, "What the heck do you know about my anger issues??" He made sure to sensor himself since there were kids around, of course. "You think I killed him?? What do you know?"
Pausing, he lifted a hand to point at Lily. "See? I like how she thinks. What am I going to do with a dead scientist?? He's already got my money! I'd at least need a signature to get into his bank account! No, I'm gonna sue whoever ends up owning that piece of junk! Sue them and sue whoever killed him!"
Hey, if he did end up being the murderer, he would at least be surprised, himself?? Or maybe he wasn't that good at this game, either.

Zia had to stifle a laugh, and really force herself to keep with the in character theme and not pull her usual doting and d'aaaw'ing that came with teasing Chris.
"Well, I'm just saying. If your contract wasn't as airtight as you thought you could've easily ended up with nothing. And then what would you have? Just a whole lot of rage and no way of getting paid, so you might as well get your revenge," She rambled off her clear excuse for just wanting to interrogate him because he was her friend.

Lily wanted to giggle as well and was fighting it, but she knew it wouldn't be long before it came forth. Still for now she tried to keep a straight face while looking to Zia. "She is right though, if you would end up with nothing and believed you would get away with the crime, then why not."
She grinned, " and beside. We live in the 21st century, forgery is not exactly what one would call difficult and if he is dead he most certainly can't contest it. Did he even have a lawyer," she said before the giggle escaped and she turned away.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," she mumbled.
