Notes: Again, this is a book I am writing with my two friends. More bits and pieces may be added later on.
There are two parts.
Other:
This is based on greek mythology.
Part 1:
The hallways bustled with activity as they always did. There were people charging to class to class and people relaxing in their free time. Naturally, my wristband vibrated and the boards around me flashed bright red and yellow. I didn't even have to look directly at them. I knew what they said.
I was challenged.
I immediately ran into the elevator and pushed the button for the first floor. Of course, first floor always got priority. The moment it touched bottom I stepped out and walked into the defender's arena lobby. The monitors were sitting there, dressed in all black as usual.
One would think that someone died, but they don't. No one ever dies in the arena. It's designed to keep people alive after the battle, even after they should have been killed, due to the jumpsuit that they make us always wear. The jumpsuit was made of enchanted cloth and covers every part of the body, save for the face. Some spots send a signal to the monitors when they're hit with enough power. With less, it deflects the hit, both leaving the person unharmed. The signals cause the fight to stop.
They fitted me with the jumpsuit, made from light cotton and full black. Of course, this was part of my conditions. This way, I could see my opponent, but they couldn't see me.
"Conditions, Alysander?" Asked one of the monitors beside me.
"Same as usual, blackout, no wind, black suit, but please make the ground mountainous, a single peak in the center, but no trees or water," I said. The monitor nodded and moved her hands on a screen. I moved over to the weapons rack and grabbed a small knife. After a few moments, the door opened. My opponent was ready.
I entered the arena and my vision changed. Everything was tinted blue, on the extremes, either light or dark. I moved around the arena. The ground was rocky, and hard to navigate. I moved around to my enemy's gate and saw a silhouette of a girl I knew very well at this point.
Nikki.
Of course it was her! At this point, she challenges whenever the wait time allows it. It's been exactly two weeks since my last battle with her, so she was back.
As I readied the shadow-darts in my hand, a thought hit me. Why don't I give her a fair fight this time?
So, instead I shadowed her. She bounded up the rocks silently, as I struggled to keep up. After a while, she was on top of the peak in the center. I finally saw her plan.
As I would've looked for her, she would be up here, firing at me. She obviously didn't know that I was behind her.
I changed the darts into a dagger and snuck up behind her, moving the dagger near the thin spot on her neck.
"Nicole, why were you so stupid that you thought you can beat me?"
She whipped around and almost stabbed me in the belly with her knife, but there was thick padding to protect it. I, instead, touched the shadow dagger to the c***k near her heart.
"You lose." I said, walking away as the lights came on.
Someday my little friend Nikki would learn. No one beats Alysander.
Part 2:
woke up to a large raccoon staring into my face. The night was dark, the stars lighting the sky. I could feel the familiar rush of energy that always came at night. When I sat up, my whole body was aching. I looked around me. The woods weren't familiar. I couldn't remember how I got there. In fact, I couldn't remember the past few days. I rubbed my temples, staring at the dark grass and my black hair falling into my face. Where were Christine and Daniel? Usually, Christine would wait to prank me while Daniel would sit by nervously. I looked at the trees and bushes surrounding me.
"Not funny, Christine! Seriously! Not funny!" I screamed. All that answered is silence. Daniel didn't run out to confess, and Christine didn't start giggling. I stood up.
"Not funny!"
Suddenly, the bushes ruffled and I whipped around to them, startling the raccoon.
"Christine?"
I walked over to the bushes cautiously, but whatever had been in them had run away. Another bush rustled.
"Daniel?"
I turned over to the bush to see a boy about my age. He had black hair and incredibly dark eyes.
"Well, someone seems a little out of sorts," he said, looking me over.
I watched him for another moment, before I said, "Well, that'd happen from waking up in an unfamiliar area."
He walked toward me and raised an eyebrow "Well, someone probably pranked you. It was probably Nyla, if you just suddenly woke up somewhere. I need to have a talk with Hecate-"
"Who is Nyla? Where am I?" I cut him off, suddenly incredibly confused. I felt the raccoon jump onto my shoulder.
"Wait, how do you not know who Nyla is? That takes some effort, knowing that she is the only person to be officially unranked because-" his gaze landed on my wrist and he edged away. I looked down on it and there was nothing. Then I looked at his. There was a gold band.
He then looked up on my face and I saw a slight flash of recognition in his eyes before he ran away. I immediately took off after him, the raccoon flying off of my shoulder. It took a lot of energy to see him in the darkness, even with eyes like mine. They are much like a cat's eyes- they reflect light. I kept running after him, expertly stepping around and over the branches and roots jutting out of the ground. He made a huge curve, I could tell, and we made it past a big black statue. Then, he disappeared and I nearly stumbled into a river. My extra energy started sapping away as the sun rose and I collapsed.
