I'm making this thread because I'm 99.99% sure I haven't seen one in a LONG time
I thought it might be interesting to compile a large amount of odd, unique or even discriminatory observations about Pokemon (battling, aesthetic, resemblances, names etc.). Well, there isn't much else to say here so I'll start off.
Ferrothorn is, design-wise, possibly the most confusing Pokemon ever created. The best explanation to date is a flattened durian fruit that can climb walls (well done, Bulbapedia!).
Combee can pack together in clumps to sleep and collect honey, but their wings remain intact and undamaged despite their frailty.
Cubchoo's mucus is the raw material behind all of its attacks. Essentially, every move it uses is made of or derived from its snot or the energy it produces!
Looking at Watchog's eyes in its sprite can induce headaches (this is probably just me from staring at Serebii and Arkeis, though).
Klink's shiny form is made of copper.
In Pokemon HeartGold and Soulsilver, Diglett and Dugtrio 'jump' underneath Hurdles and can participate in Lamp Jump and Disc Catch, but their feet are obscured to maintain the mystery of what is underneath. Also, all sprites in B/W never change the position of the ground and rubble surrounding their bodies.

Until B/W, Scizor's backsprite never feautured it's wings. Only the wing bases.
Stunfisk is the only fish pokemon that is weak to water(yes, he is a flounder).
Shelmet and Karrablast are the first pokemon to only evolve if traded for another specific pokemon.
Zebstrika is the new "last pokemon" in alphabetical order.
Pikachu has been the first non-5th Gen pokemon featured in B/W (Armaldo being the second. Charizard being the third. Surely there are more.).
Munna was actually referenced in a past generation by a little girl who "Wants a pretty pink pokemon with a flower design", making it the only pokemon to ever have a pre-appearance before its own generation was released.

Zangoose while clearly having sharp claws, has never and still doesn't learn the move "Cut".
Regirock's Pokedex states when a part of its body is chopped, it can attach to rocks to heal itself, yet it doesn't have the ability Regenerator or an ability that makes Rock-typed move heal it.
Steelix does not learn Iron Defense despite having a high defense stat and being a steel type.

Charizard and Rhyhorn's cries are the same, exactly, no pitch or speed differences.
In the Red and Blue versions Lickitung couldn't learn Lick.

yay-for-cake-and-sodomy Charizard and Rhyhorn's cries are the same, exactly, no pitch or speed differences. In the Red and Blue versions Lickitung couldn't learn Lick. Whoa! I'm learning a lot of facts here. xd I didn't know that charizard and rhyhorn's cries are the same. it's true: You learn something new everyday.

Buterfree and Venomoth have the same abilities (some extra for those that support that they were changed before the games)
I've always think that it's weird that Mew/Celebi/Jirachi are vulnerable (and jirachi even week) to ground attacks when they obviously float (this goes too for half the fully evolved bugs)
Pokemon regions have a horrible problem with un-native species problems invading the natural habitat of other (more rare) species and the un-native ones even eating the ones that lived there (and always invading conveniently after the E4)
There's a theory that saids that the celebis that save Celebi in the movie (don't remember number) are actually the same celebi (the one they are saving) traveling back and forth in time from multiple times to save itself (which would make it the "only" celebi)

1.Pokemon and Pulseman
-One of Pikachu's attacks is called "Volt Tackle", which in Japan is called "Voltteccer" and utilizes the same idea of turning into an electrically-charged ball and smashing into an enemy. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Volt Tackle is Pikachu's Final Smash and operates like Pulseman's version of the attack. -In Pokémon Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum, the organization 'Team Galactic' ( (ギンガ団, Ginga Dan?, literally “Galaxy Gang” or “Galaxy Brigade” ) may be a reference to Doctor Waruyama's gang of the same name. -The Gunfish enemy that appears underwater in Stage 6 of Pulseman resembles Remoraid, as they are both combinations of fish and revolver pistols. -The Pokémon Rotom has a similarly shaped head to Pulseman, and is able to enter electrical devices much like Pulseman. Rotom is also surrounded by a blue electrical aura that resembles Pulseman’s electrical powers. When Rotom is first encountered, it comes out of a television with only static on the screen, similar to how the game Pulseman begins. -Commander Charon from Pokémon Platinum, who is said to have first discovered the Pokémon Rotom, has a very similar hairstyle to the Doc Waruyama, the character who created Pulseman. (Pulseman is on Virtual Console)
2 Arbok
-Ekans spells Snake backwards and Arbok spells Cobra with a k backwards
In Generation I games, Arbok had a pair of black stripes in a pattern on its back. This never appeared in any future generation.
The "face" pattern on Arbok's chest has subtle differences between generations
3 Little things
-Marill was dubbed "Pikablu by fans
-Cubone's name for English audiences was originally going to be "Orphon," a reference to how it's orphaned at birth and the Pokedex states that it wears the skull of its dead mother
-Koffing name was going to be Ny for New York's polluted air and Weezing La for Los Angeles' polluted air. and that Koffing and Weezzing were made by Team Rocket
-Kecleon can be Green Purple and Yellow but you can only get the Green one
-Spinda's has 8,589,934,592 possible pattrens ( that with shinys)
And last Bouffalant signature move Head Charge is called Afro Break in Japan.

In the first pokemon movie... we can clearly see that Mewtwo is a clone of a fossil of Mew. The Japanese version showed Mewtwos adventure to becoming good to bad with a little girl who was the professors dead daughter in Mewtwo's dreams, when he was still developing. The girl eventually died in Mewtwo's dream, thus, making him angry and sad, and the will to become a pokemon master. Mewtwo kills the scientists and the dead girl's father. This whole scene about the development of Mewtwo was cut off in the American released version.
