Classes were drawing to a close, exams were finishing up, and summer was just around the bend. It seemed a lot of students of Amity were heading away for a while, back home or on vacation. A well deserved break. Junko had plans to stay with Momo, though somehow it had been arranged for her to come with him back to visit his adopted parents when he went back towards the end of the break. He wasn't sure how exactly that had happened, but it was set now, and he supposed he was excited for it, though a wee bit apprehensive.

The majority of the time though he'd remain at school. Take a few summer courses and try to catch up with the others that had been enrolled before him. Sure he'd started a lot later, but it still sucked seeing all his friends moving onto the second year.

Studying was for later though. He'd heard that certain other little ghost was staying behind as well to hit the books, and he wasn't about to let the kid's summer slip by without a bit of fun and relaxation.

Stopping outside Jove's door he brought a hand up to knock softly.

The little pup was indeed busy studying as Seiji approached his room. It had already been decided he would visit his caretaker briefly during the summer, but he was determined to spend most of his time immersed in study and summer classes. He couldn't just lounge around relax with his anxiety over year two courses gnawing at him day and night, if he didn't get a head start in studying he'd never make it through!

Jove was struggling through a giant textbook on the history of subtle scare tactics, when the soft knock startled him just as effectively as a gunshot. His book was knocked off his lap with a loud THUD and his tail poofed out like a bottle brush as he scrambled to his feet, and then ran over to answer the door with ears perked and eyes wide.

When he realized who it was on the other side, the pup's tail began to wag happily. He hadn't seen much of anyone right before and after exams, Seiji included. But what brought the older ghost to visit?

He heard a heavy thud before the sound of feet hitting the floor and crossing the room towards the door and the older ghost's brows arched curiously, a smile twitching at his lips as it opened to show Jove standing there with his tail wagging happily. Always nice to know your presence is welcome. "Hey Kid, what's up?"

He glanced over Jove's head, noting the book, and rolled his eyes. "Studying?" Not that it was a bad idea, really. It was a very good one, but you can't spend all your time with you nose to the grind. Had to have a little fun from time to time.

He also thought it was high time the two spent a little more time together. Seiji had been placing a lot of focus on Junko lately, not that he regretted one second of it, but he did feel a little bad for having neglected his other friends in the process. "Hey, do you wanna go get lunch? Maybe stop at the scarcade?" He jerked a finger over his shoulder in the direction of the stairs that led up to the entrance to the dorm.

The pup's tail wagged more. Nothing was up, just stuff, lots of studying, lots of preparation. He would need to put in lots of work if he was going to master his second year curriculum. And maybe if he worked hard enough, he could be as big and scary as Seiji!

At the mention of something not so school-oriented, Jove's ears flicked backwards briefly. He wasn't ever very hungry these days, and the thought of beating up little videogame characters... Maybe not while he was still so easy to beat up himself. Still, he glanced up at Seiji with an uncertain expression combined with a slower tail wag as though saying "Yeah, I want to do what you do..."

Noting the slower wag the older boil back tracked a bit, glancing down the hall then back down to the pup again. "Or maybe some eye scream and just wander around until we find something that catches our fancy?" Still, he had sort of agreed to go regardless, so he stepped further back from the door to allow room for Jove. "We can do anything really," he continued on, quite possibly rambling now. "But I thought it'd be nice to do something, just the two of us."

Wow, clearly he should have thought of a more concrete plan when he'd decided to wander down the hall to pester the other boil.

Eye scream would be okay, or wandering... Jove glanced up with another tail wag to reinforce his earlier expression, the thick fluff already recovering from the frightened poofing and smoothing down.

But when he glanced up, something caught his eye. His fluffy ears perked. His tail wagged more excitedly. And then he pointed at the side of Seiji's head. I want that too!

The pup knew a couple boils with earrings, and they were tough, with no difficulties being scary. Maybe if he wasn't studying, he could have fun without worrying if he was going to become scarier at the same time!

The more energetic wag made the older ghost relax a bit, rambling ceasing as it seemed he'd offered up something that seemed relatively entertaining. "Alright, should we go then?" Grinning, he turned in the direction of the stairs.

Then paused as Jove pointed excitedly at the side of his head. "What?" His hand came up automatically to grope at the side of his face and ear as if expecting to find something there that shouldn't be, then frowned as he came up with nothing but the few bits of metal piercing his ear. "You want your ear pierced?" He sounded a little doubtful. Somehow he couldn't quite imagine one of those fluffy ears with a hoop through them.

"Are you sure?" If he really wanted to, Seiji would take him. It just seemed an odd request from the whisp.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 07, 2011 6:39 pm

Jove nodded enthusiastically. He was sure, even though it was a spur of the moment decision. And not just spur of the moment, it was a decision made without knowing anything about it. Except that an ear piercing was suddenly important for his quest towards scariness!

Maybe he wouldn't have been so eager if he took a minute to consider the actual mechanics of getting his ear pierced. But he was still just a puppy, and sometimes he didn't think ahead as well as his peers... So with another tail wag he darted into his room to grab his scarf, and then ran back to grab Seiji's hand and drag him down the hallway.

Dark eyes watched that fluffed tail wag even more excitedly and then rolled. "Alright, if you're really sure." If the way in which the pup grabbed his hand to drag him towards the stairs leading up and out of the ghost dorms it was safe to say he was indeed sure of his spontaneous decision. Somehow Seiji doubted he'd really dedicated a whole lot of thought towards this, but he was willing to go along with it. He'd just have to make sure Jove understood what exactly he was asking for when they actually got to the parlor.

Jogging a little to catch up, he pulled Jove to a walk once they reached the lawns outside the dorms, releasing his hand. If the younger boil wanted to appear more scary and manly, then holding hands with an older boil was not the way to do that. Seiji didn't mind it, he was just looking out for his friend's reputation.

The piercing parlor was in just in town, so it wouldn't be too long a walk, and the eye scream place was only a block or so beyond that.

Jove scampered ahead until he felt the tug on his hand, and took the hint. Instead he ran a circle around Seiji and continued to perk his ears in an excited manner. This would be so great! His own earring!

He bounced around exuberantly until they reached the edge of campus. That was about the limit of his adventuring, having been in town only a couple times since his enrolment at the academy. It was always an unusual place, with people coming and going all the time, just walking here and there and always moving on to something important. There were tons of noises too. Voices and squawks of city birds, and the rumble and honk of cars... For some reason Jove had never liked the cars. Riding in one was okay, but crossing the street worried him, and getting too close to a moving car always made him a little skittish.

Since he didn't know the town, and furthermore, didn't know where Seiji was taking him, he stuck close to the older boil. And stayed on the side away from the road.

As luck would have it they had the cross the street immediately after leaving the gates to the school, and Seiji lead his smaller friend down the crosswalk to wait for the change in light. Watching the far signal for the red claw to change into the white monster to indicate it being safe to cross. When it changed he stepped forward, reaching down to lay his hand along Jove's back to make sure the pup kept up with him and didn't fall behind on the street. Letting him go again once they were safely on the sidewalk.

From here they could actually see the awning that decorated the shop front they were heading towards, it was black, but there was a splash of color that curled along it's side that was supposed to mimic a tattoo. It was at the opposite end of the block from where they were now, but they'd reach it in five minutes time.

"So you really want your ear pierced, huh?" Last chance to turn back, though could just go get eyescream and find something else to do today. He was still fairly confident Jove didn't really grasp the concept of piercing an ear.

The moment Seiji moved to step out onto the street Jove paused, and then resisted the pressure against his back. He didn't want to go... But when pushed into it he darted forward and practically pulled Seiji the rest of the way across the street. He didn't know why, but the less time they spent in front of those cars, the better.

He glanced up as Seiji asked him again. Almost as if... No way! Just because he hadn't wanted to cross the road, that didn't mean he had given up on his ear piercing! The pup puffed up and nodded. Of course he still wanted it pierced! He wasn't afraid, and he wanted to look scarier to!

Taking the older ghost's hand, he tugged his friend forward with decisive intent. It didn't matter that he had no clue where they were going. He just knew from Seiji's body language that his goal was in that direction.

Apparently Jove didn't like streets, or maybe cars. Good to know. The jikininki filed that knowledge away for later, chuckling softly under his breath at having been dragged across the cross walk at a jog before they'd reached the other side. He did not however comment, and would simply play it off as eagerness to get where they were going.

He let himself get tugged along down the block until they came to the building with the colorful awning, pulling Jove to a stop beside him and gesturing towards the door. "Here we are, you ready?" He still didn't think the pup really knew what he was getting himself in for, but he'd see. And really, an ear piercing wasn't all that hard to handle, they hardly hurt. Of course Seiji reacted to pain a little bit different then those around him, so perhaps he was wrong?

Now that they were here the older boil wondered if perhaps he should get another piercing himself. Another hole in one of his ears or maybe something a little more interesting. He'd think about it.

Jove found himself jerked to a stop, but he didn't even bother to give Seiji a displeased expression. Instead he just stared up at the place in silence. It wasn't like anywhere else he had been to before, instead of clothing or merchandise in the window it was all fancy designs and posters and whatnot. The pup wouldn't have recognized them as tattoo designs, that was another area of body modification he had no experience with.

The pup nodded. His tail wagged. He was so ready for this! He trusted Seiji would be close behind him as he pushed the door open and entered, peering around with an innocent excitement. It wasn't what he was expecting... Normally children his age would have been accompanied by a parent, but today Seiji would just have to play that role as he trotted up to the counter.

He expected the nod, and opened the door for Jove so he could hurry in and up to the desk, making his way back to his friend's side at a slightly more casual pace. The ghoul behind the receptionist desk was a demon with long sweeping horns, a few hoops piercing the lengths of each. He smiled at, leaning on the counter. "Hi, we're here to get my friend's ear pierced."

The ghoul smiled and slide a couple forms over the counter towards them, and Seiji thanked her as he took them and pen, dropping his gaze so he could fill in everything he could before passing it along to Jove. "It's a wavier, just print and sign your name." Frankly the waivers seemed overkill for something like an ear piercing, but he understood the need for a legal paper trail.

When everything was filled he slid the paper work back to the ghoul. She stamped both sheets then walked around to the opening beside the desk and ushering them back and around to one of the partitioned stations before excusing herself. There was a bench for clients receiving various services, and Seiji nudged Jove towards it, taking a seat in one of the spare chairs. Beside them was a counter with numerous things laid out. A sectioned box with varying piercings, a tattoo gun, a jar with sealed hypodermic needles. Anything and everything one might need while working in a piercing and tattoo parlor.
